שִׁמְעוּ Hear šāmaʿ זֹ֨את ye this, zōt הַכֹּהֲנִ֜ים O priests; kōhēn וְהַקְשִׁ֣יבוּ׀ and hearken, qāšab בֵּ֣ית ye house bayit יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel; yiśrāʾēl וּבֵ֤ית O house bayit הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ of the king; melek הַאֲזִ֔ינוּ and give ye ear, ʾāzan כִּ֥י for kî לָכֶ֖ם הַמִּשְׁפָּ֑ט judgment mišpāṭ כִּֽי toward you, because kî פַח֙ a snare paḥ הֱיִיתֶ֣ם ye have been hāyâ לְמִצְפָּ֔ה on Mizpah, miṣpâ וְרֶ֖שֶׁת and a net rešet פְּרוּשָׂ֥ה spread pāraś עַל upon ʿal תָּבֽוֹר׃ Tabor. tābôr

וְשַׁחֲטָ֥ה to make slaughter, šāḥaṭ שֵׂטִ֖ים And the revolters śēṭ הֶעְמִ֑יקוּ are profound ʿāmaq וַאֲנִ֖י though I ʾănî מוּסָ֥ר a rebuker of them all. mûsār לְכֻלָּֽם׃ kōl

אֲנִי֙ I ʾănî יָדַ֣עְתִּי know yādaʿ אֶפְרַ֔יִם Ephraim, ʾeprayim וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל and Israel yiśrāʾēl לֹֽא is not lōʾ נִכְחַ֣ד hid kāḥad מִמֶּ֑נִּי from min כִּ֤י me: for kî עַתָּה֙ now, ʿattâ הִזְנֵ֣יתָ thou committest whoredom, zānâ אֶפְרַ֔יִם O Ephraim, ʾeprayim נִטְמָ֖א is defiled. ṭāmēʾ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Israel yiśrāʾēl

לֹ֤א They will not lōʾ יִתְּנוּ֙ frame nātan מַ֣עַלְלֵיהֶ֔ם their doings maʿălāl לָשׁ֖וּב to turn šûb אֶל unto ʾēl אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם their God: ʾĕlōhîm כִּ֣י for kî ר֤וּחַ the spirit rûaḥ זְנוּנִים֙ of whoredoms zānûn בְּקִרְבָּ֔ם in the midst qereb וְאֶת ʾēt יְהוָ֖ה the Lord. yĕhōwâ לֹ֥א of them, and they have not lōʾ יָדָֽעוּ׃ known yādaʿ

וְעָנָ֥ה doth testify ʿānâ גְאֽוֹן And the pride gāʾôn יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl בְּפָנָ֑יו to his face: pānîm וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל therefore shall Israel yiśrāʾēl וְאֶפְרַ֗יִם and Ephraim ʾeprayim יִכָּֽשְׁלוּ֙ fall kāšal בַּעֲוֺנָ֔ם in their iniquity; ʿāwōn כָּשַׁ֥ל shall fall kāšal גַּם also gam יְהוּדָ֖ה Judah yĕhûdâ עִמָּֽם׃ with them. ʿim

בְּצֹאנָ֣ם with their flocks ṣōn וּבִבְקָרָ֗ם and with their herds bāqār יֵֽלְכ֛וּ They shall go hālak לְבַקֵּ֥שׁ to seek bāqaš אֶת ʾēt יְהוָ֖ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ וְלֹ֣א but they shall not lōʾ יִמְצָ֑אוּ find māṣāʾ חָלַ֖ץ he hath withdrawn himself from them. ḥālaṣ מֵהֶֽם׃ hēm

בַּיהוָ֣ה against the Lord: yĕhōwâ בָּגָ֔דוּ They have dealt treacherously bāgad כִּֽי for kî בָנִ֥ים children: bēn זָרִ֖ים strange zûr יָלָ֑דוּ they have begotten yālad עַתָּ֛ה now ʿattâ יֹאכְלֵ֥ם devour ʾākal חֹ֖דֶשׁ shall a month ḥōdeš אֶת them with ʾēt חֶלְקֵיהֶֽם׃ their portions. ḥēleq

תִּקְע֤וּ Blow tāqaʿ שׁוֹפָר֙ ye the cornet šôpār בַּגִּבְעָ֔ה in Gibeah, gibʿâ חֲצֹצְרָ֖ה the trumpet ḥăṣōṣĕrâ בָּרָמָ֑ה in Ramah: rāmâ הָרִ֙יעוּ֙ cry aloud rûaʿ בֵּ֣ית אָ֔וֶן Beth-aven, bêt ʾāwen אַחֲרֶ֖יךָ after ʾaḥar בִּנְיָמִֽין׃ thee, O Benjamin. binyāmîn

אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ Ephraim ʾeprayim לְשַׁמָּ֣ה desolate šammâ תִֽהְיֶ֔ה shall be hāyâ בְּי֖וֹם in the day yôm תּֽוֹכֵחָ֑ה of rebuke: tôkēḥâ בְּשִׁבְטֵי֙ among the tribes šēbeṭ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl הוֹדַ֖עְתִּי have I made known yādaʿ נֶאֱמָנָֽה׃ that which shall surely be. ʾāman

הָיוּ֙ were hāyâ שָׂרֵ֣י The princes śar יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah yĕhûdâ כְּמַסִּיגֵ֖י like them that remove nāsag גְּב֑וּל the bound: gĕbûl עֲלֵיהֶ֕ם upon ʿal אֶשְׁפּ֥וֹךְ I will pour out šāpak כַּמַּ֖יִם them like water. mayim עֶבְרָתִֽי׃ my wrath ʿebrâ

עָשׁ֥וּק oppressed ʿāšaq אֶפְרַ֖יִם Ephraim ʾeprayim רְצ֣וּץ broken rāṣaṣ מִשְׁפָּ֑ט in judgment, mišpāṭ כִּ֣י because kî הוֹאִ֔יל he willingly yāʾal הָלַ֖ךְ walked hālak אַחֲרֵי after ʾaḥar צָֽו׃ the commandment. ṣǎw

וַאֲנִ֥י Therefore I ʾănî כָעָ֖שׁ as a moth, ʿoš לְאֶפְרָ֑יִם unto Ephraim ʾeprayim וְכָרָקָ֖ב as rottenness. rāqāb לְבֵ֥ית and to the house bayit יְהוּדָֽה׃ of Judah yĕhûdâ

וַיַּ֨רְא saw rāʾâ אֶפְרַ֜יִם When Ephraim ʾeprayim אֶת ʾēt חָלְי֗וֹ his sickness, ḥŏlî וִֽיהוּדָה֙ and Judah yĕhûdâ אֶת ʾēt מְזֹר֔וֹ his wound, māzôr וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ then went hālak אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ Ephraim ʾeprayim אֶל to ʾēl אַשּׁ֔וּר the Assyrian, ʾaššûr וַיִּשְׁלַ֖ח and sent šālaḥ אֶל to ʾēl מֶ֣לֶךְ king melek יָרֵ֑ב Jareb: yārēb וְה֗וּא he hûʾ לֹ֤א not lōʾ יוּכַל֙ yet could yākōl לִרְפֹּ֣א heal rāpāʾ לָכֶ֔ם וְלֹֽא you, nor lōʾ יִגְהֶ֥ה cure gāhâ מִכֶּ֖ם min מָזֽוֹר׃ you of your wound. māzôr

כִּ֣י For kî אָנֹכִ֤י I ʾānōkî כַשַּׁ֙חַל֙ as a lion, šaḥal לְאֶפְרַ֔יִם unto Ephraim ʾeprayim וְכַכְּפִ֖יר and as a young lion kĕpîr לְבֵ֣ית to the house bayit יְהוּדָ֑ה of Judah: yĕhûdâ אֲנִ֨י I, ʾănî אֲנִ֤י I, ʾănî אֶטְרֹף֙ will tear ṭārap וְאֵלֵ֔ךְ and go away; hālak אֶשָּׂ֖א I will take away, nāśāʾ וְאֵ֥ין and none ʾayin מַצִּֽיל׃ shall rescue nāṣal

אֵלֵ֤ךְ I will go hālak אָשׁ֙וּבָה֙ return šûb אֶל to ʾēl מְקוֹמִ֔י my place, māqôm עַ֥ד till ʿad אֲשֶֽׁר ʾăšer יֶאְשְׁמ֖וּ they acknowledge their offence, ʾāšam וּבִקְשׁ֣וּ and seek bāqaš פָנָ֑י my face: pānîm בַּצַּ֥ר in their affliction ṣar לָהֶ֖ם hēm יְשַׁחֲרֻֽנְנִי׃ they will seek me early. šāḥar
