וַֽיְהִי֙ And it came to pass, hāyâ כִּֽי when kî הֵחֵ֣ל began ḥālal הָֽאָדָ֔ם men ʾādām לָרֹ֖ב to multiply rābab עַל on ʿal פְּנֵ֣י the face pānîm הָֽאֲדָמָ֑ה of the earth, ʾădāmâ וּבָנ֖וֹת and daughters bat יֻלְּד֥וּ were born yālad לָהֶֽם׃ unto them,

וַיִּרְא֤וּ saw rāʾâ בְנֵי That the sons bēn הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ of God ʾĕlōhîm אֶת ʾēt בְּנ֣וֹת the daughters bat הָֽאָדָ֔ם of men ʾādām כִּ֥י that kî טֹבֹ֖ת fair; ṭôb הֵ֑נָּה they hēnnâ וַיִּקְח֤וּ and they took lāqaḥ לָהֶם֙ נָשִׁ֔ים them wives ʾiššâ מִכֹּ֖ל of all kōl אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer בָּחָֽרוּ׃ they chose. bāḥar

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said, ʾāmar יְהוָ֗ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ לֹֽא shall not lōʾ יָד֨וֹן strive dîn רוּחִ֤י My spirit rûaḥ בָֽאָדָם֙ with man, ʾādām לְעֹלָ֔ם always ʿôlām בְּשַׁגַּ֖ם also gam ה֣וּא for that he hûʾ בָשָׂ֑ר flesh: bāśār וְהָי֣וּ shall be hāyâ יָמָ֔יו yet his days yôm מֵאָ֥ה an hundred mēʾâ וְעֶשְׂרִ֖ים and twenty ʿeśrîm שָׁנָֽה׃ years. šāne

הַנְּפִלִ֞ים giants nĕpîl הָי֣וּ There were hāyâ בָאָרֶץ֮ in the earth ʾereṣ בַּיָּמִ֣ים days; yôm הָהֵם֒ in those hēm וְגַ֣ם and also gam אַֽחֲרֵי after ʾaḥar כֵ֗ן that, kēn אֲשֶׁ֨ר when ʾăšer יָבֹ֜אוּ came in bôʾ בְּנֵ֤י the sons bēn הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ of God ʾĕlōhîm אֶל unto ʾēl בְּנ֣וֹת the daughters bat הָֽאָדָ֔ם of men, ʾādām וְיָלְד֖וּ and they bare yālad לָהֶ֑ם הֵ֧מָּה to them, the same hēm הַגִּבֹּרִ֛ים mighty men gibbôr אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer מֵעוֹלָ֖ם of old, ʿôlām אַנְשֵׁ֥י men ʾîš הַשֵּֽׁם׃ of renown. šēm

וַיַּ֣רְא saw rāʾâ יְהוָ֔ה And God yĕhōwâ כִּ֥י that kî רַבָּ֛ה great rab רָעַ֥ת the wickedness raʿ הָאָדָ֖ם of man ʾādām בָּאָ֑רֶץ in the earth, ʾereṣ וְכָל and every kōl יֵ֙צֶר֙ imagination yēṣer מַחְשְׁבֹ֣ת of the thoughts maḥăšābâ לִבּ֔וֹ of his heart lēb רַ֥ק only raq רַ֖ע evil raʿ כָּל kōl הַיּֽוֹם׃ continually. yôm

וַיִּנָּ֣חֶם And it repented nāḥam יְהוָ֔ה the Lord yĕhōwâ כִּֽי that kî עָשָׂ֥ה he had made ʿāśâ אֶת ʾēt הָֽאָדָ֖ם man ʾādām בָּאָ֑רֶץ on the earth, ʾereṣ וַיִּתְעַצֵּ֖ב and it grieved ʿāṣab אֶל him at ʾēl לִבּֽוֹ׃ his heart. lēb

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said, ʾāmar יְהוָ֗ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶמְחֶ֨ה I will destroy māḥâ אֶת ʾēt הָאָדָ֤ם man ʾādām אֲשֶׁר whom ʾăšer בָּרָ֙אתִי֙ I have created bārāʾ מֵעַל֙ from ʿal פְּנֵ֣י the face pānîm הָֽאֲדָמָ֔ה of the earth; ʾădāmâ מֵֽאָדָם֙ both man, ʾādām עַד and ʿad בְּהֵמָ֔ה beast, bĕhēmâ עַד and ʿad רֶ֖מֶשׂ the creeping thing, remeś וְעַד and ʿad ע֣וֹף the fowls ʿôp הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם of the air; šāmayim כִּ֥י for kî נִחַ֖מְתִּי it repenteth nāḥam כִּ֥י me that kî עֲשִׂיתִֽם׃ I have made them. ʿāśâ

וְנֹ֕חַ But Noah nōaḥ מָ֥צָא found māṣāʾ חֵ֖ן grace ḥēn בְּעֵינֵ֥י in the eyes ʿayin יְהוָֽה׃ of the Lord. yĕhōwâ

אֵ֚לֶּה These ʾēlle תּוֹלְדֹ֣ת the generations tôlĕdâ נֹ֔חַ of Noah: nōaḥ נֹ֗חַ Noah nōaḥ אִ֥ישׁ man ʾĕnôš צַדִּ֛יק a just ṣaddîq תָּמִ֥ים perfect tāmîm הָיָ֖ה was hāyâ בְּדֹֽרֹתָ֑יו in his generations, dôr אֶת with ʾēt הָֽאֱלֹהִ֖ים God. ʾĕlōhîm הִֽתְהַלֶּךְ walked hālak נֹֽחַ׃ Noah nōaḥ

וַיּ֥וֹלֶד begat yālad נֹ֖חַ And Noah nōaḥ שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה three šālôš בָנִ֑ים sons, bēn אֶת ʾēt שֵׁ֖ם Shem, šēm אֶת ʾēt חָ֥ם Ham, ḥām וְאֶת ʾēt יָֽפֶת׃ and Japheth. yepet

וַתִּשָּׁחֵ֥ת also was corrupt šāḥat הָאָ֖רֶץ The earth ʾereṣ לִפְנֵ֣י before pānîm הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים God, ʾĕlōhîm וַתִּמָּלֵ֥א was filled mālēʾ הָאָ֖רֶץ and the earth ʾereṣ חָמָֽס׃ with violence. ḥāmās

וַיַּ֧רְא looked upon rāʾâ אֱלֹהִ֛ים And God ʾĕlōhîm אֶת ʾēt הָאָ֖רֶץ the earth, ʾereṣ וְהִנֵּ֣ה and, behold, hinnē נִשְׁחָ֑תָה it was corrupt; šāḥat כִּֽי for kî הִשְׁחִ֧ית had corrupted šāḥat כָּל all kōl בָּשָׂ֛ר flesh bāśār אֶת ʾēt דַּרְכּ֖וֹ his way derek עַל upon ʿal הָאָֽרֶץ׃ the earth. ʾereṣ

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said ʾāmar אֱלֹהִ֜ים And God ʾĕlōhîm לְנֹ֗חַ unto Noah, nōaḥ קֵ֤ץ The end qēṣ כָּל of all kōl בָּשָׂר֙ flesh bāśār בָּ֣א is come bôʾ לְפָנַ֔י before me; pānîm כִּֽי for kî מָלְאָ֥ה is filled with mālēʾ הָאָ֛רֶץ the earth ʾereṣ חָמָ֖ס violence ḥāmās מִפְּנֵיהֶ֑ם through them; pānîm וְהִנְנִ֥י and, behold, hēn מַשְׁחִיתָ֖ם I will destroy šāḥat אֶת them with ʾēt הָאָֽרֶץ׃ the earth. ʾereṣ

עֲשֵׂ֤ה Make ʿāśâ לְךָ֙ תֵּבַ֣ת thee an ark tēbâ עֲצֵי wood; ʿēṣ גֹ֔פֶר of gopher gōper קִנִּ֖ים rooms qēn תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֣ה shalt thou make ʿāśâ אֶת in ʾēt הַתֵּבָ֑ה the ark, tēbâ וְכָֽפַרְתָּ֥ and shalt pitch kāpar אֹתָ֛הּ ʾēt מִבַּ֥יִת it within bayit וּמִח֖וּץ and without ḥûṣ בַּכֹּֽפֶר׃ with pitch. kōper

וְזֶ֕ה And this ze אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֖ה thou shalt make ʿāśâ אֹתָ֑הּ ʾēt שְׁלֹ֧שׁ three šālôš מֵא֣וֹת hundred mēʾâ אַמָּ֗ה cubits, ʾammâ אֹ֚רֶךְ it The length ʾōrek הַתֵּבָ֔ה of the ark tēbâ חֲמִשִּׁ֤ים of it fifty ḥămiššîm אַמָּה֙ cubits, ʾammâ רָחְבָּ֔הּ the breadth rōḥab וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים of it thirty šĕlôšîm אַמָּ֖ה cubits. ʾammâ קוֹמָתָֽהּ׃ and the height qômâ

צֹ֣הַר׀ A window ṣōhar תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֣ה shalt thou make ʿāśâ לַתֵּבָ֗ה to the ark, tēbâ וְאֶל and in ʾēl אַמָּה֙ a cubit ʾammâ תְּכַלֶ֣נָּה shalt thou finish kālâ מִלְמַ֔עְלָה it above; maʿal וּפֶ֥תַח and the door petaḥ הַתֵּבָ֖ה of the ark tēbâ בְּצִדָּ֣הּ in the side ṣad תָּשִׂ֑ים shalt thou set śûm תַּחְתִּיִּ֛ם thereof; lower, taḥtî שְׁנִיִּ֥ם second, šēnî וּשְׁלִשִׁ֖ים and third šĕlîšî תַּֽעֲשֶֽׂהָ׃ shalt thou make it. ʿāśâ

וַֽאֲנִ֗י I, even I, ʾănî הִנְנִי֩ And, behold, hinnē מֵבִ֨יא do bring bôʾ אֶת ʾēt הַמַּבּ֥וּל a flood mabbûl מַ֙יִם֙ of waters mayim עַל upon ʿal הָאָ֔רֶץ the earth, ʾereṣ לְשַׁחֵ֣ת to destroy šāḥat כָּל all kōl בָּשָׂ֗ר flesh, bāśār אֲשֶׁר wherein ʾăšer בּוֹ֙ ר֣וּחַ the breath rûaḥ חַיִּ֔ים of life, ḥay מִתַּ֖חַת from under taḥat הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם heaven; šāmayim כֹּ֥ל thing kōl אֲשֶׁר every that ʾăšer בָּאָ֖רֶץ in the earth ʾereṣ יִגְוָֽע׃ shall die. gāwaʿ

וַהֲקִמֹתִ֥י thee will I establish qûm אֶת ʾēt בְּרִיתִ֖י my covenant; bĕrît אִתָּ֑ךְ But with ʾēt וּבָאתָ֙ and thou shalt come bôʾ אֶל into ʾēl הַתֵּבָ֔ה the ark, tēbâ אַתָּ֕ה thou, ʾattâ וּבָנֶ֛יךָ and thy sons, bēn וְאִשְׁתְּךָ֥ and thy wife, ʾiššâ וּנְשֵֽׁי wives ʾiššâ בָנֶ֖יךָ and thy sons' bēn אִתָּֽךְ׃ with thee. ʾēt

וּמִכָּל And of every kōl הָ֠חַי living thing ḥay מִֽכָּל of all kōl בָּשָׂ֞ר flesh, bāśār שְׁנַ֧יִם two šĕnayim מִכֹּ֛ל of every kōl תָּבִ֥יא shalt thou bring bôʾ אֶל into ʾēl הַתֵּבָ֖ה the ark, tēbâ לְהַֽחֲיֹ֣ת to keep alive ḥāyâ אִתָּ֑ךְ with ʾēt זָכָ֥ר male zākār וּנְקֵבָ֖ה and female. nĕqēbâ יִֽהְיֽוּ׃ thee; they shall be hāyâ

מֵהָע֣וֹף Of fowls ʿôp לְמִינֵ֗הוּ after their kind, mîn וּמִן and of min הַבְּהֵמָה֙ cattle bĕhēmâ לְמִינָ֔הּ after their kind, mîn מִכֹּ֛ל of every kōl רֶ֥מֶשׂ creeping thing remeś הָֽאֲדָמָ֖ה of the earth ʾădāmâ לְמִינֵ֑הוּ after his kind, mîn שְׁנַ֧יִם two šĕnayim מִכֹּ֛ל of every kōl יָבֹ֥אוּ shall come bôʾ אֵלֶ֖יךָ unto ʾēl לְהַֽחֲיֽוֹת׃ thee, to keep alive. ḥāyâ

וְאַתָּ֣ה thou ʾattâ קַח And take lāqaḥ לְךָ֗ מִכָּל unto thee of all kōl מַֽאֲכָל֙ food maʾăkāl אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer יֵֽאָכֵ֔ל is eaten, ʾākal וְאָסַפְתָּ֖ and thou shalt gather ʾāsap אֵלֶ֑יךָ to ʾēl וְהָיָ֥ה thee; and it shall be hāyâ לְךָ֛ וְלָהֶ֖ם לְאָכְלָֽה׃ for food for thee, and for them. ʾoklâ

וַיַּ֖עַשׂ Thus did ʿāśâ נֹ֑חַ Noah; nōaḥ כְּ֠כֹל according to all kōl אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ʾăšer צִוָּ֥ה commanded ṣāwâ אֹת֛וֹ ʾēt אֱלֹהִ֖ים God ʾĕlōhîm כֵּ֥ן him, so kēn עָשָֽׂה׃ did he. ʿāśâ
