וַתִּשָּׂ֨א lifted me up, nāśāʾ אֹתִ֜י ʾēt ר֗וּחַ Moreover the spirit rûaḥ וַתָּבֵ֣א and brought bôʾ אֹ֠תִי ʾēt אֶל me unto ʾēl שַׁ֨עַר gate šaʿar בֵּית house, bayit יְהוָ֤ה of the Lord's yĕhōwâ הַקַּדְמוֹנִי֙ the east qadmônî הַפּוֹנֶ֣ה which looketh pānâ קָדִ֔ימָה eastward: qādîm וְהִנֵּה֙ and behold hinnē בְּפֶ֣תַח at the door petaḥ הַשַּׁ֔עַר of the gate šaʿar עֶשְׂרִ֥ים and twenty ʿeśrîm וַחֲמִשָּׁ֖ה five ḥāmēš אִ֑ישׁ men; ʾîš וָאֶרְאֶ֨ה whom I saw rāʾâ בְתוֹכָ֜ם among tāwek אֶת ʾēt יַאֲזַנְיָ֧ה Jaazaniah yaʾăzanyâ בֶן the son bēn עַזֻּ֛ר of Azur, ʿazzûr וְאֶת ʾēt פְּלַטְיָ֥הוּ and Pelatiah pĕlaṭyâ בֶן the son bēn בְּנָיָ֖הוּ of Benaiah, bĕnāyâ שָׂרֵ֖י princes śar הָעָֽם׃ of the people. ʿam

וַיֹּ֖אמֶר Then said ʾāmar אֵלָ֑י he unto ʾēl בֶּן me, Son bēn אָדָ֕ם of man, ʾādām אֵ֣לֶּה these ʾēlle הָאֲנָשִׁ֞ים the men ʾîš הַחֹשְׁבִ֥ים that devise ḥāšab אָ֛וֶן mischief, ʾāwen וְהַיֹּעֲצִ֥ים and give yāʿaṣ עֲצַת counsel ʿēṣâ רָ֖ע wicked raʿ בָּעִ֥יר city: ʿîr הַזֹּֽאת׃ in this zōt

הָאֹ֣מְרִ֔ים Which say, ʾāmar לֹ֥א not lōʾ בְקָר֖וֹב near; qārôb בְּנ֣וֹת let us build bānâ בָּתִּ֑ים houses: bayit הִ֣יא this hûʾ הַסִּ֔יר the caldron, sîr וַאֲנַ֖חְנוּ and we ʾănaḥnû הַבָּשָֽׂר׃ the flesh. bāśār

לָכֵ֖ן Therefore kēn הִנָּבֵ֣א prophesy nābāʾ עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם against ʿal הִנָּבֵ֖א them, prophesy, nābāʾ בֶּן O son bēn אָדָֽם׃ of man. ʾādām

וַתִּפֹּ֣ל fell nāpal עָלַי֮ upon ʿal ר֣וּחַ And the Spirit rûaḥ יְהוָה֒ of the Lord yĕhōwâ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר me, and said ʾāmar אֵלַ֗י unto ʾēl אֱמֹר֙ me, Speak; ʾāmar כֹּה Thus kō אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֔ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ כֵּ֥ן Thus kēn אֲמַרְתֶּ֖ם have ye said, ʾāmar בֵּ֣ית O house bayit יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel: yiśrāʾēl וּמַעֲל֥וֹת the things that come maʿălâ רֽוּחֲכֶ֖ם into your mind, them. rûaḥ אֲנִ֥י for I ʾănî יְדַעְתִּֽיהָ׃ know yādaʿ

הִרְבֵּיתֶ֥ם Ye have multiplied rābâ חַלְלֵיכֶ֖ם your slain ḥālāl בָּעִ֣יר city, ʿîr הַזֹּ֑את in this zōt וּמִלֵּאתֶ֥ם and ye have filled mālēʾ חוּצֹתֶ֖יהָ the streets ḥûṣ חָלָֽל׃ thereof with the slain. ḥālāl

לָכֵ֗ן Therefore kēn כֹּֽה thus kō אָמַר֮ saith ʾāmar אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִה֒ God; yĕhōwi חַלְלֵיכֶם֙ Your slain ḥālāl אֲשֶׁ֣ר whom ʾăšer שַׂמְתֶּ֣ם ye have laid śûm בְּתוֹכָ֔הּ in the midst tāwek הֵ֥מָּה of it, they hēm הַבָּשָׂ֖ר the flesh, bāśār וְהִ֣יא and this hûʾ הַסִּ֑יר the caldron: sîr וְאֶתְכֶ֖ם ʾēt הוֹצִ֥יא but I will bring you forth yāṣāʾ מִתּוֹכָֽהּ׃ out of the midst of it. tāwek

חֶ֖רֶב the sword; ḥereb יְרֵאתֶ֑ם Ye have feared yārēʾ וְחֶ֙רֶב֙ a sword ḥereb אָבִ֣יא and I will bring bôʾ עֲלֵיכֶ֔ם upon ʿal נְאֻ֖ם you, saith nĕʾum אֲדֹנָ֥י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִֽה׃ God. yĕhōwi

וְהוֹצֵאתִ֤י And I will bring out yāṣāʾ אֶתְכֶם֙ ʾēt מִתּוֹכָ֔הּ you of the midst tāwek וְנָתַתִּ֥י thereof, and deliver nātan אֶתְכֶ֖ם ʾēt בְּיַד you into the hands yād זָרִ֑ים of strangers, zûr וְעָשִׂ֛יתִי and will execute ʿāśâ בָכֶ֖ם שְׁפָטִֽים׃ judgments among you. šepeṭ

בַּחֶ֣רֶב by the sword; ḥereb תִּפֹּ֔לוּ Ye shall fall nāpal עַל you in ʿal גְּב֥וּל the border gĕbûl יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel; yiśrāʾēl אֶשְׁפּ֣וֹט I will judge šāpaṭ אֶתְכֶ֑ם ʾēt וִֽידַעְתֶּ֖ם and ye shall know yādaʿ כִּֽי that kî אֲנִ֥י I ʾănî יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord. yĕhōwâ

הִ֗יא This hûʾ לֹֽא shall not lōʾ תִהְיֶ֤ה be hāyâ לָכֶם֙ לְסִ֔יר your caldron, sîr וְאַתֶּ֛ם neither shall ye ʾattâ תִּהְי֥וּ be hāyâ בְתוֹכָ֖הּ in the midst tāwek לְבָשָׂ֑ר the flesh bāśār אֶל you in ʾēl גְּב֥וּל the border gĕbûl יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel: yiśrāʾēl אֶשְׁפֹּ֥ט thereof; I will judge šāpaṭ אֶתְכֶֽם׃ ʾēt

וִֽידַעְתֶּם֙ And ye shall know yādaʿ כִּֽי that kî אֲנִ֣י I ʾănî יְהוָ֔ה the Lord: yĕhōwâ אֲשֶׁ֤ר for ʾăšer בְּחֻקַּי֙ in my statutes, ḥōq לֹ֣א ye have not lōʾ הֲלַכְתֶּ֔ם walked hālak וּמִשְׁפָּטַ֖י my judgments, mišpāṭ לֹ֣א neither lōʾ עֲשִׂיתֶ֑ם executed ʿāśâ וּֽכְמִשְׁפְּטֵ֧י after the manners mišpāṭ הַגּוֹיִ֛ם of the heathen gôy אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer סְבִיבוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם round about you. sābîb עֲשִׂיתֶֽם׃ but have done ʿāśâ

וַֽיְהִי֙ And it came to pass, hāyâ כְּהִנָּ֣בְאִ֔י when I prophesied, nābāʾ וּפְלַטְיָ֥הוּ that Pelatiah pĕlaṭyâ בֶן the son bēn בְּנָיָ֖ה of Benaiah bĕnāyâ מֵ֑ת died. mût וָאֶפֹּ֨ל Then fell I down nāpal עַל upon ʿal פָּנַ֜י my face, pānîm וָאֶזְעַ֣ק and cried zāʿaq קוֹל voice, qôl גָּד֗וֹל with a loud gādôl וָאֹמַר֙ and said, ʾāmar אֲהָהּ֙ Ah ʾăhāh אֲדֹנָ֣י Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִ֔ה God! yĕhōwi כָּלָה֙ a full end kālâ אַתָּ֣ה wilt thou ʾattâ עֹשֶׂ֔ה make ʿāśâ אֵ֖ת ʾēt שְׁאֵרִ֥ית of the remnant šĕʾērît יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel? yiśrāʾēl

וַיְהִ֥י came hāyâ דְבַר Again the word dābār יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵלַ֥י unto ʾēl לֵאמֹֽר׃ me, saying, ʾāmar

בֶּן Son bēn אָדָ֗ם of man, ʾādām אַחֶ֤יךָ thy brethren, ʾāḥ אַחֶ֙יךָ֙ thy brethren, ʾāḥ אַנְשֵׁ֣י the men ʾĕnôš גְאֻלָּתֶ֔ךָ of thy kindred, gĕʾullâ וְכָל and all kōl בֵּ֥ית the house bayit יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl כֻּלֹּ֑ה wholly, kōl אֲשֶׁר֩ they unto whom ʾăšer אָמְר֨וּ have said, ʾāmar לָהֶ֜ם יֹשְׁבֵ֣י the inhabitants yāšab יְרוּשָׁלִַ֗ם of Jerusalem yĕrûšālaim רַֽחֲקוּ֙ Get you far rāḥaq מֵעַ֣ל from ʿal יְהוָ֔ה the Lord: yĕhōwâ לָ֥נוּ הִ֛יא unto us is this hûʾ נִתְּנָ֥ה given nātan הָאָ֖רֶץ land ʾereṣ לְמוֹרָשָֽׁה׃ in possession. môrāšâ

לָכֵ֣ן Therefore kēn אֱמֹ֗ר say, ʾāmar כֹּֽה Thus kō אָמַר֮ saith ʾāmar אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִה֒ God; yĕhōwi כִּ֤י Although kî הִרְחַקְתִּים֙ I have cast them far off rāḥaq בַּגּוֹיִ֔ם among the heathen, gôy וְכִ֥י and although kî הֲפִֽיצוֹתִ֖ים I have scattered pûṣ בָּאֲרָצ֑וֹת them among the countries, ʾereṣ וָאֱהִ֤י yet will I be hāyâ לָהֶם֙ לְמִקְדָּ֣שׁ sanctuary miqdoš מְעַ֔ט to them as a little mĕʿaṭ בָּאֲרָצ֖וֹת in the countries ʾereṣ אֲשֶׁר where ʾăšer בָּ֥אוּ they shall come. bôʾ שָֽׁם׃ šām

לָכֵ֣ן Therefore kēn אֱמֹ֗ר say, ʾāmar כֹּֽה Thus kō אָמַר֮ saith ʾāmar אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִה֒ God; yĕhōwâ וְקִבַּצְתִּ֤י I will even gather qābaṣ אֶתְכֶם֙ you ʾēt מִן you from min הָ֣עַמִּ֔ים the people, ʿam וְאָסַפְתִּ֣י and assemble ʾāsap אֶתְכֶ֔ם ʾēt מִן you out of min הָ֣אֲרָצ֔וֹת the countries ʾereṣ אֲשֶׁ֥ר where ʾăšer נְפֹצוֹתֶ֖ם ye have been scattered, pûṣ בָּהֶ֑ם וְנָתַתִּ֥י and I will give nātan לָכֶ֖ם אֶת ʾēt אַדְמַ֥ת the land ʾădāmâ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel. yiśrāʾēl

וּבָ֖אוּ And they shall come bôʾ שָׁ֑מָּה thither, šām וְהֵסִ֜ירוּ and they shall take away sûr אֶת ʾēt כָּל all kōl שִׁקּוּצֶ֛יהָ the detestable things šiqqûṣ וְאֶת ʾēt כָּל thereof and all kōl תּוֹעֲבוֹתֶ֖יהָ the abominations tôʿēba מִמֶּֽנָּה׃ thereof from thence. min

וְנָתַתִּ֤י And I will give nātan לָהֶם֙ לֵ֣ב heart, lēb אֶחָ֔ד them one ʾeḥād וְר֥וּחַ spirit rûaḥ חֲדָשָׁ֖ה a new ḥādoš אֶתֵּ֣ן and I will put nātan בְּקִרְבְּכֶ֑ם within qereb וַהֲסִ֨רֹתִ֜י you; and I will take sûr לֵ֤ב heart lēb הָאֶ֙בֶן֙ the stony ʾeben מִבְּשָׂרָ֔ם out of their flesh, bāśār וְנָתַתִּ֥י and will give nātan לָהֶ֖ם לֵ֥ב them an heart lēb בָּשָֽׂר׃ of flesh: bāśār

לְמַ֙עַן֙ That maʿan בְּחֻקֹּתַ֣י in my statutes, ḥuqqâ יֵלֵ֔כוּ they may walk hālak וְאֶת them: ʾēt מִשְׁפָּטַ֥י mine ordinances, mišpāṭ יִשְׁמְר֖וּ and keep šāmar וְעָשׂ֣וּ and do ʿāśâ אֹתָ֑ם ʾēt וְהָיוּ and they shall be hāyâ לִ֣י לְעָ֔ם my people, ʿam וַאֲנִ֕י and I ʾănî אֶהְיֶ֥ה will be hāyâ לָהֶ֖ם לֵאלֹהִֽים׃ their God. ʾĕlōhîm

וְאֶל after ʾēl לֵ֧ב But whose heart lēb שִׁקּוּצֵיהֶ֛ם of their detestable things šiqqûṣ וְתוֹעֲבוֹתֵיהֶ֖ם and their abominations, tôʿēba לִבָּ֣ם the heart lēb הֹלֵ֑ךְ walketh hālak דַּרְכָּם֙ their way derek בְּרֹאשָׁ֣ם upon their own heads, rōš נָתַ֔תִּי I will recompense nātan נְאֻ֖ם saith nĕʾum אֲדֹנָ֥י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִֽה׃ God. yĕhōwâ

וַיִּשְׂא֤וּ lift up nāśāʾ הַכְּרוּבִים֙ Then did the cherubims kĕrûb אֶת ʾēt כַּנְפֵיהֶ֔ם their wings, kānāp וְהָאֽוֹפַנִּ֖ים and the wheels ʾôpān לְעֻמָּתָ֑ם beside ʿummâ וּכְב֧וֹד them; and the glory kābôd אֱלֹהֵֽי of the God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם over ʿal מִלְמָֽעְלָה׃ them above. maʿal

וַיַּ֙עַל֙ went up ʿālâ כְּב֣וֹד And the glory kābôd יְהוָ֔ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ מֵעַ֖ל from ʿal תּ֣וֹךְ the midst tāwek הָעִ֑יר of the city, ʿîr וַֽיַּעֲמֹד֙ and stood ʿāmad עַל upon ʿal הָהָ֔ר the mountain har אֲשֶׁ֖ר which ʾăšer מִקֶּ֥דֶם on the east side qedem לָעִֽיר׃ of the city. ʿîr

וְר֣וּחַ Afterwards the spirit rûaḥ נְשָׂאַ֗תְנִי took me up, nāśāʾ וַתְּבִאֵ֤נִי and brought bôʾ כַשְׂדִּ֙ימָה֙ into Chaldea, kaśdî אֶל to ʾēl הַגּוֹלָ֔ה them of the captivity. gôlâ בַּמַּרְאֶ֖ה me in a vision marʾe בְּר֣וּחַ by the Spirit rûaḥ אֱלֹהִ֑ים of God ʾĕlōhîm וַיַּ֙עַל֙ went up ʿālâ מֵֽעָלַ֔י from me. ʿal הַמַּרְאֶ֖ה So the vision marʾe אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer רָאִֽיתִי׃ I had seen rāʾâ

וָאֲדַבֵּ֖ר Then I spake dābar אֶל unto ʾēl הַגּוֹלָ֑ה them of the captivity gôlâ אֵ֛ת ʾēt כָּל all kōl דִּבְרֵ֥י the things dābār יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer הֶרְאָֽנִי׃ had shewed me. rāʾâ
