וַיֹּ֤אמֶר spake ʾāmar יְהוָה֙ And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶל unto ʾēl מֹשֶׁ֔ה Moses, mōše בֹּ֖א Go bôʾ אֶל unto ʾēl פַּרְעֹ֑ה Pharaoh, parʿō וְאָֽמַרְתָּ֣ and say ʾāmar אֵלָ֗יו unto ʾēl כֹּ֚ה him, Thus kō אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֔ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ שַׁלַּ֥ח go, šālaḥ אֶת Let ʾēt עַמִּ֖י my people ʿam וְיַֽעַבְדֻֽנִי׃ that they may serve me. ʿābad

וְאִם And if ʾim מָאֵ֥ן refuse māʾēn אַתָּ֖ה thou ʾattâ לְשַׁלֵּ֑חַ to let go, šālaḥ הִנֵּ֣ה behold, hinnē אָֽנֹכִ֗י I ʾānōkî נֹגֵ֛ף will smite nāgap אֶת ʾēt כָּל all kōl גְּבֽוּלְךָ֖ thy borders gĕbûl בַּֽצְפַרְדְּעִֽים׃ with frogs: ṣĕpardēaʿ

וְשָׁרַ֣ץ shall bring forth šāraṣ הַיְאֹר֮ And the river yĕʾōr צְפַרְדְּעִים֒ frogs ṣĕpardēaʿ וְעָלוּ֙ abundantly, which shall go up ʿālâ וּבָ֣אוּ and come bôʾ בְּבֵיתֶ֔ךָ into thine house, bayit וּבַֽחֲדַ֥ר and into thy bedchamber, ḥeder מִשְׁכָּֽבְךָ֖ miškāb וְעַל and upon ʿal מִטָּתֶ֑ךָ thy bed, miṭṭâ וּבְבֵ֤ית and into the house bayit עֲבָדֶ֙יךָ֙ of thy servants, ʿebed וּבְעַמֶּ֔ךָ and upon thy people, ʿam וּבְתַנּוּרֶ֖יךָ and into thine ovens, tannûr וּבְמִשְׁאֲרוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ and into thy kneadingtroughs: mišʾeret

וּבְכָ֥ה וּֽבְעַמְּךָ֖ both on thee, and upon thy people, ʿam וּבְכָל and upon all kōl עֲבָדֶ֑יךָ thy servants. ʿebed יַֽעֲל֖וּ shall come up ʿālâ הַֽצְפַרְדְּעִֽים׃ And the frogs ṣĕpardēaʿ

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר spake ʾāmar יְהוָה֮ And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶל unto ʾēl מֹשֶׁה֒ Moses, mōše אֱמֹ֣ר Say ʾāmar אֶֽל unto ʾēl אַהֲרֹ֗ן Aaron, ʾahărôn נְטֵ֤ה Stretch forth nāṭâ אֶת ʾēt יָֽדְךָ֙ thine hand yād בְּמַטֶּ֔ךָ with thy rod maṭṭe עַל over ʿal הַ֨נְּהָרֹ֔ת the streams, nāhār עַל over ʿal הַיְאֹרִ֖ים the rivers, yĕʾōr וְעַל and over ʿal הָֽאֲגַמִּ֑ים the ponds, ʾăgam וְהַ֥עַל to come up ʿālâ אֶת and cause ʾēt הַֽצְפַרְדְּעִ֖ים frogs ṣĕpardēaʿ עַל upon ʿal אֶ֥רֶץ the land ʾereṣ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ of Egypt. miṣrayim

וַיֵּ֤ט stretched out nāṭâ אַֽהֲרֹן֙ And Aaron ʾahărôn אֶת ʾēt יָד֔וֹ his hand yād עַ֖ל over ʿal מֵימֵ֣י the waters mayim מִצְרָ֑יִם of Egypt; miṣrayim וַתַּ֙עַל֙ came up, ʿālâ הַצְּפַרְדֵּ֔עַ and the frogs ṣĕpardēaʿ וַתְּכַ֖ס and covered kāsâ אֶת ʾēt אֶ֥רֶץ the land ʾereṣ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ of Egypt. miṣrayim

וַיַּֽעֲשׂוּ did ʿāśâ כֵ֥ן so kēn הַֽחֲרְטֻמִּ֖ים And the magicians ḥarṭōm בְּלָֽטֵיהֶ֑ם with their enchantments, lāṭ וַיַּֽעֲל֥וּ and brought up ʿālâ אֶת ʾēt הַֽצְפַרְדְּעִ֖ים frogs ṣĕpardēaʿ עַל upon ʿal אֶ֥רֶץ the land ʾereṣ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ of Egypt. miṣrayim

וַיִּקְרָ֨א called qārāʾ פַרְעֹ֜ה Then Pharaoh parʿō לְמֹשֶׁ֣ה for Moses mōše וּֽלְאַהֲרֹ֗ן and Aaron, ʾahărôn וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ and said, ʾāmar הַעְתִּ֣ירוּ Intreat ʿātar אֶל ʾēl יְהוָ֔ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ וְיָסֵר֙ that he may take away sûr הַֽצְפַרְדְּעִ֔ים the frogs ṣĕpardēaʿ מִמֶּ֖נִּי from min וּמֵֽעַמִּ֑י me, and from my people; ʿam וַֽאֲשַׁלְּחָה֙ go, šālaḥ אֶת and I will let ʾēt הָעָ֔ם the people ʿam וְיִזְבְּח֖וּ that they may do sacrifice zābaḥ לַֽיהוָֽה׃ unto the Lord. yĕhōwâ

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said ʾāmar מֹשֶׁ֣ה And Moses mōše לְפַרְעֹה֮ unto Pharaoh, parʿō הִתְפָּאֵ֣ר Glory pāʾar עָלַי֒ over ʿal לְמָתַ֣י׀ me: when mātay אַעְתִּ֣יר shall I intreat ʿātar לְךָ֗ וְלַֽעֲבָדֶ֙יךָ֙ for thee, and for thy servants, ʿebed וּֽלְעַמְּךָ֔ and for thy people, ʿam לְהַכְרִית֙ to destroy kārat הַֽצֲפַרְדְּעִ֔ים the frogs ṣĕpardēaʿ מִמְּךָ֖ from min וּמִבָּתֶּ֑יךָ thee and thy houses, bayit רַ֥ק only? raq בַּיְאֹ֖ר in the river yĕʾōr תִּשָּׁאַֽרְנָה׃ they may remain šāʾar

וַיֹּ֖אמֶר And he said, ʾāmar לְמָחָ֑ר To morrow. māḥār וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ And he said, ʾāmar כִּדְבָ֣רְךָ֔ according to thy word: dābār לְמַ֣עַן that maʿan תֵּדַ֔ע thou mayest know yādaʿ כִּי that kî אֵ֖ין none ʾayin כַּֽיהוָ֥ה like unto the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ our God. ʾĕlōhîm

וְסָר֣וּ shall depart sûr הַֽצְפַרְדְּעִ֗ים And the frogs ṣĕpardēaʿ מִמְּךָ֙ from min וּמִבָּ֣תֶּ֔יךָ thee, and from thy houses, bayit וּמֵֽעֲבָדֶ֖יךָ and from thy servants, ʿebed וּמֵֽעַמֶּ֑ךָ and from thy people; ʿam רַ֥ק only. raq בַּיְאֹ֖ר in the river yĕʾōr תִּשָּׁאַֽרְנָה׃ they shall remain šāʾar

וַיֵּצֵ֥א went out yāṣāʾ מֹשֶׁ֛ה And Moses mōše וְאַֽהֲרֹ֖ן and Aaron ʾahărôn מֵעִ֣ם from ʿim פַּרְעֹ֑ה Pharaoh: parʿō וַיִּצְעַ֤ק cried ṣāʿaq מֹשֶׁה֙ and Moses mōše אֶל unto ʾēl יְהוָ֔ה the Lord yĕhōwâ עַל ʿal דְּבַ֥ר because of dābār הַֽצְפַרְדְּעִ֖ים the frogs ṣĕpardēaʿ אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer שָׂ֥ם he had brought śûm לְפַרְעֹֽה׃ against Pharaoh. parʿō

וַיַּ֥עַשׂ did ʿāśâ יְהוָ֖ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ כִּדְבַ֣ר according to the word dābār מֹשֶׁ֑ה of Moses; mōše וַיָּמֻ֙תוּ֙ died mût הַֽצְפַרְדְּעִ֔ים and the frogs ṣĕpardēaʿ מִן out of min הַבָּתִּ֥ים the houses, bayit מִן out of min הַֽחֲצֵרֹ֖ת the villages, ḥāṣēr וּמִן and out of min הַשָּׂדֹֽת׃ the fields. śāde

וַיִּצְבְּר֥וּ And they gathered them together ṣābar אֹתָ֖ם ʾēt חֳמָרִ֣ם upon heaps: ḥōmer חֳמָרִ֑ם ḥōmer וַתִּבְאַ֖שׁ stank. bāʾaš הָאָֽרֶץ׃ and the land ʾereṣ

וַיַּ֣רְא saw rāʾâ פַּרְעֹ֗ה But when Pharaoh parʿō כִּ֤י that kî הָֽיְתָה֙ there was hāyâ הָֽרְוָחָ֔ה respite, rĕwāḥâ וְהַכְבֵּד֙ he hardened kābad אֶת ʾēt לִבּ֔וֹ his heart, lēb וְלֹ֥א not lōʾ שָׁמַ֖ע and hearkened šāmaʿ אֲלֵהֶ֑ם unto ʾēl כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֖ר them; as ʾăšer דִּבֶּ֥ר had said. dābar יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord yĕhōwâ

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said ʾāmar יְהוָה֮ And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶל unto ʾēl מֹשֶׁה֒ Moses, mōše אֱמֹר֙ Say ʾāmar אֶֽל unto ʾēl אַהֲרֹ֔ן Aaron, ʾahărôn נְטֵ֣ה Stretch out nāṭâ אֶֽת ʾēt מַטְּךָ֔ thy rod, maṭṭe וְהַ֖ךְ and smite nākâ אֶת ʾēt עֲפַ֣ר the dust ʿāpār הָאָ֑רֶץ of the land, ʾereṣ וְהָיָ֥ה that it may become hāyâ לְכִנִּ֖ם lice kēn בְּכָל throughout all kōl אֶ֥רֶץ the land ʾereṣ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ of Egypt. miṣrayim

וַיַּֽעֲשׂוּ And they did ʿāśâ כֵ֗ן so; kēn וַיֵּט֩ stretched out nāṭâ אַֽהֲרֹ֨ן for Aaron ʾahărôn אֶת ʾēt יָד֤וֹ his hand yād בְמַטֵּ֙הוּ֙ with his rod, maṭṭe וַיַּךְ֙ and smote nākâ אֶת ʾēt עֲפַ֣ר the dust ʿāpār הָאָ֔רֶץ of the earth, ʾereṣ וַתְּהִי֙ and it became hāyâ הַכִּנָּ֔ם lice kēn בָּֽאָדָ֖ם in man, ʾādām וּבַבְּהֵמָ֑ה and in beast; bĕhēmâ כָּל all kōl עֲפַ֥ר the dust ʿāpār הָאָ֛רֶץ of the land ʾereṣ הָיָ֥ה became hāyâ כִנִּ֖ים lice kēn בְּכָל throughout all kōl אֶ֥רֶץ the land ʾereṣ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ of Egypt. miṣrayim

וַיֹּֽאמְר֤וּ said ʾāmar הַֽחַרְטֻמִּם֙ Then the magicians ḥarṭōm אֶל unto ʾēl פַּרְעֹ֔ה Pharaoh, parʿō אֶצְבַּ֥ע the finger ʾeṣbaʿ אֱלֹהִ֖ים of God: ʾĕlōhîm הִ֑וא This hûʾ וַיֶּֽחֱזַ֤ק was hardened, ḥāzaq לֵב heart lēb פַּרְעֹה֙ and Pharaoh's parʿō וְלֹֽא not lōʾ שָׁמַ֣ע and he hearkened šāmaʿ אֲלֵהֶ֔ם unto ʾēl כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֖ר them; as ʾăšer דִּבֶּ֥ר had said. dābar יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord yĕhōwâ

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said ʾāmar יְהוָ֜ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶל unto ʾēl מֹשֶׁ֗ה Moses, mōše הַשְׁכֵּ֤ם Rise up early šākam בַּבֹּ֙קֶר֙ in the morning, bōqer וְהִתְיַצֵּב֙ and stand yāṣab לִפְנֵ֣י before pānîm פַרְעֹ֔ה Pharaoh; parʿō הִנֵּ֖ה lo, hinnē יוֹצֵ֣א he cometh forth yāṣāʾ הַמָּ֑יְמָה to the water; mayim וְאָֽמַרְתָּ֣ and say ʾāmar אֵלָ֗יו unto ʾēl כֹּ֚ה him, Thus kō אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֔ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ שַׁלַּ֥ח go, šālaḥ עַמִּ֖י Let my people ʿam וְיַֽעַבְדֻֽנִי׃ that they may serve me. ʿābad

כִּ֣י Else, kî אִם if ʾim אֵֽינְךָ֮ thou wilt not ʾayin מְשַׁלֵּ֣חַ go, šālaḥ אֶת let ʾēt עַמִּי֒ my people ʿam הִנְנִי֩ behold, hēn מַשְׁלִ֨יחַ I will send šālaḥ בְּךָ֜ וּבַֽעֲבָדֶ֧יךָ upon thee, and upon thy servants, ʿebed וּֽבְעַמְּךָ֛ and upon thy people, ʿam וּבְבָתֶּ֖יךָ and into thy houses: bayit אֶת ʾēt הֶֽעָרֹ֑ב swarms ʿārōb וּמָ֨לְא֜וּ shall be full mālēʾ בָּתֵּ֤י and the houses bayit מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ of the Egyptians miṣrayim אֶת of ʾēt הֶ֣עָרֹ֔ב swarms ʿārōb וְגַ֥ם and also gam הָֽאֲדָמָ֖ה the ground ʾădāmâ אֲשֶׁר ʾăšer הֵ֥ם they hēm עָלֶֽיהָ׃ whereon ʿal

וְהִפְלֵיתִי֩ And I will sever pālâ בַיּ֨וֹם day yôm הַה֜וּא in that hûʾ אֶת ʾēt אֶ֣רֶץ the land ʾereṣ גֹּ֗שֶׁן of Goshen, gōšen אֲשֶׁ֤ר which ʾăšer עַמִּי֙ my people ʿam עֹמֵ֣ד dwell, ʿāmad עָלֶ֔יהָ in ʿal לְבִלְתִּ֥י that no biltî הֱיֽוֹת shall be hāyâ שָׁ֖ם there; šām עָרֹ֑ב swarms ʿārōb לְמַ֣עַן to the end maʿan תֵּדַ֔ע thou mayest know yādaʿ כִּ֛י that kî אֲנִ֥י I ʾănî יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ בְּקֶ֥רֶב in the midst qereb הָאָֽרֶץ׃ of the earth. ʾereṣ

וְשַׂמְתִּ֣י And I will put śûm פְדֻ֔ת a division pĕdût בֵּ֥ין between bên עַמִּ֖י my people ʿam וּבֵ֣ין bên עַמֶּ֑ךָ and thy people: ʿam לְמָחָ֥ר to morrow māḥār יִֽהְיֶ֖ה be. hāyâ הָאֹ֥ת sign ʾôt הַזֶּֽה׃ shall this ze

וַיַּ֤עַשׂ did ʿāśâ יְהוָה֙ And the Lord yĕhōwâ כֵּ֔ן so; kēn וַיָּבֹא֙ and there came bôʾ עָרֹ֣ב swarm ʿārōb כָּבֵ֔ד a grievous kābēd בֵּ֥יתָה into the house bayit פַרְעֹ֖ה of Pharaoh, parʿō וּבֵ֣ית houses, bayit עֲבָדָ֑יו and his servants' ʿebed וּבְכָל and into all kōl אֶ֧רֶץ the land ʾereṣ מִצְרַ֛יִם of Egypt: miṣrayim תִּשָּׁחֵ֥ת was corrupted šāḥat הָאָ֖רֶץ the land ʾereṣ מִפְּנֵ֥י by reason of pānîm הֶֽעָרֹֽב׃ the swarm ʿārōb

וַיִּקְרָ֣א called qārāʾ פַרְעֹ֔ה And Pharaoh parʿō אֶל for ʾēl מֹשֶׁ֖ה Moses mōše וּֽלְאַהֲרֹ֑ן and for Aaron, ʾahărôn וַיֹּ֗אמֶר and said, ʾāmar לְכ֛וּ Go hālak זִבְח֥וּ ye, sacrifice zābaḥ לֵֽאלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם to your God ʾĕlōhîm בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ in the land. ʾereṣ

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said, ʾāmar מֹשֶׁ֗ה And Moses mōše לֹ֤א It is not lōʾ נָכוֹן֙ meet kûn לַֽעֲשׂ֣וֹת to do; ʿāśâ כֵּ֔ן so kēn כִּ֚י for kî תּֽוֹעֲבַ֣ת the abomination tôʿēba מִצְרַ֔יִם of the Egyptians miṣrayim נִזְבַּ֖ח we shall sacrifice zābaḥ לַֽיהוָ֣ה to the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ our God: ʾĕlōhîm הֵ֣ן lo, hēn נִזְבַּ֞ח shall we sacrifice zābaḥ אֶת ʾēt תּֽוֹעֲבַ֥ת the abomination tôʿēba מִצְרַ֛יִם of the Egyptians miṣrayim לְעֵֽינֵיהֶ֖ם before their eyes, ʿayin וְלֹ֥א and will they not lōʾ יִסְקְלֻֽנוּ׃ stone us? sāqal

דֶּ֚רֶךְ journey derek שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת three šālôš יָמִ֔ים days' yôm נֵלֵ֖ךְ We will go hālak בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר into the wilderness, midbār וְזָבַ֙חְנוּ֙ and sacrifice zābaḥ לַֽיהוָ֣ה to the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ our God, ʾĕlōhîm כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֖ר as ʾăšer יֹאמַ֥ר he shall command ʾāmar אֵלֵֽינוּ׃ us. ʾēl

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said, ʾāmar פַּרְעֹ֗ה And Pharaoh parʿō אָֽנֹכִ֞י I ʾānōkî אֲשַׁלַּ֤ח will let you go, šālaḥ אֶתְכֶם֙ ʾēt וּזְבַחְתֶּ֞ם that ye may sacrifice zābaḥ לַֽיהוָ֤ה to the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙ your God ʾĕlōhîm בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר in the wilderness; midbār רַ֛ק only raq הַרְחֵ֥ק very rāḥaq לֹֽא ye shall not lōʾ תַרְחִ֖יקוּ far away: rāḥaq לָלֶ֑כֶת go hālak הַעְתִּ֖ירוּ intreat ʿātar בַּֽעֲדִֽי׃ for me. bĕʿad

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said, ʾāmar מֹשֶׁ֗ה And Moses mōše הִנֵּ֨ה Behold, hinnē אָֽנֹכִ֜י I ʾānōkî יוֹצֵ֤א go out yāṣāʾ מֵֽעִמָּךְ֙ from ʿim וְהַעְתַּרְתִּ֣י thee, and I will intreat ʿātar אֶל ʾēl יְהוָ֔ה the Lord yĕhōwâ וְסָ֣ר may depart sûr הֶֽעָרֹ֗ב that the swarms ʿārōb מִפַּרְעֹ֛ה from Pharaoh, parʿō מֵֽעֲבָדָ֥יו from his servants, ʿebed וּמֵֽעַמּ֖וֹ and from his people, ʿam מָחָ֑ר to morrow: māḥār רַ֗ק but raq אַל let not ʾal יֹסֵ֤ף any more yāsap פַּרְעֹה֙ Pharaoh parʿō הָתֵ֔ל deal deceitfully hātal לְבִלְתִּי֙ in not biltî שַׁלַּ֣ח go šālaḥ אֶת letting ʾēt הָעָ֔ם the people ʿam לִזְבֹּ֖חַ to sacrifice zābaḥ לַֽיהוָֽה׃ to the Lord. yĕhōwâ

וַיֵּצֵ֥א went out yāṣāʾ מֹשֶׁ֖ה And Moses mōše מֵעִ֣ם from ʿim פַּרְעֹ֑ה Pharaoh, parʿō וַיֶּעְתַּ֖ר and intreated ʿātar אֶל ʾēl יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord. yĕhōwâ

וַיַּ֤עַשׂ did ʿāśâ יְהוָה֙ And the Lord yĕhōwâ כִּדְבַ֣ר according to the word dābār מֹשֶׁ֔ה of Moses; mōše וַיָּ֙סַר֙ and he removed sûr הֶֽעָרֹ֔ב the swarms ʿārōb מִפַּרְעֹ֖ה from Pharaoh, parʿō מֵֽעֲבָדָ֣יו from his servants, ʿebed וּמֵֽעַמּ֑וֹ and from his people; ʿam לֹ֥א not lōʾ נִשְׁאַ֖ר there remained šāʾar אֶחָֽד׃ one. ʾeḥād

וַיַּכְבֵּ֤ד hardened kābad פַּרְעֹה֙ And Pharaoh parʿō אֶת ʾēt לִבּ֔וֹ his heart lēb גַּ֖ם also, gam בַּפַּ֣עַם time paʿam הַזֹּ֑את at this zōt וְלֹ֥א neither lōʾ שִׁלַּ֖ח go. šālaḥ אֶת would he let ʾēt הָעָֽם׃ the people ʿam
