  1. וּמֹשֶׁ֗ה Now Moses mōše הָיָ֥ה kept hāyâ רֹעֶ֛ה rāʿâ אֶת ʾēt צֹ֛אן the flock ṣōn יִתְר֥וֹ of Jethro yitrô חֹֽתְנ֖וֹ his father in law, ḥātan כֹּהֵ֣ן the priest kōhēn מִדְיָ֑ן of Midian: midyān וַיִּנְהַ֤ג and he led nāhag אֶת ʾēt הַצֹּאן֙ the flock ṣōn אַחַ֣ר to the backside ʾaḥar הַמִּדְבָּ֔ר of the desert, midbār וַיָּבֹ֛א and came bôʾ אֶל to ʾēl הַ֥ר the mountain har הָֽאֱלֹהִ֖ים of God, ʾĕlōhîm חֹרֵֽבָה׃ to Horeb. ḥōrēb
  2. וַ֠יֵּרָא appeared rāʾâ מַלְאַ֨ךְ And the angel mălʾok יְהוָֹ֥ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵלָ֛יו unto ʾēl בְּלַבַּת him in a flame labbâ אֵ֖שׁ of fire ʾēš מִתּ֣וֹךְ out of the midst tāwek הַסְּנֶ֑ה of a bush: sĕne וַיַּ֗רְא and he looked, rāʾâ וְהִנֵּ֤ה and, behold, hinnē הַסְּנֶה֙ the bush sĕne בֹּעֵ֣ר burned bāʿar בָּאֵ֔שׁ with fire, ʾēš וְהַסְּנֶ֖ה and the bush sĕne אֵינֶ֥נּוּ not ʾayin אֻכָּֽל׃ consumed. ʾākal
  3. וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said, ʾāmar מֹשֶׁ֔ה And Moses mōše אָסֻֽרָה turn aside, sûr נָּ֣א I will now nāʾ וְאֶרְאֶ֔ה and see rāʾâ אֶת ʾēt הַמַּרְאֶ֥ה sight, marʾe הַגָּדֹ֖ל great gādôl הַזֶּ֑ה this ze מַדּ֖וּעַ why maddûaʿ לֹֽא is not lōʾ יִבְעַ֥ר burnt. bāʿar הַסְּנֶֽה׃ the bush sĕne
  4. וַיַּ֥רְא saw rāʾâ יְהוָ֖ה And when the Lord yĕhōwâ כִּ֣י that סָ֣ר he turned aside sûr לִרְא֑וֹת to see, rāʾâ וַיִּקְרָא֩ called qārāʾ אֵלָ֨יו unto ʾēl אֱלֹהִ֜ים God ʾĕlōhîm מִתּ֣וֹךְ him out of the midst tāwek הַסְּנֶ֗ה of the bush, sĕne וַיֹּ֛אמֶר and said, ʾāmar מֹשֶׁ֥ה Moses, mōše מֹשֶׁ֖ה Moses. mōše וַיֹּ֥אמֶר And he said, ʾāmar הִנֵּֽנִי׃ Here I. hinnē
  5. וַיֹּ֖אמֶר And he said, ʾāmar אַל ʾal תִּקְרַ֣ב Draw not nigh qārab הֲלֹ֑ם hither: hălōm שַׁל put off nāšal נְעָלֶ֙יךָ֙ thy shoes naʿal מֵעַ֣ל from off ʿal רַגְלֶ֔יךָ thy feet, regel כִּ֣י for הַמָּק֗וֹם the place māqôm אֲשֶׁ֤ר whereon ʾăšer אַתָּה֙ thou ʾattâ עוֹמֵ֣ד standest ʿāmad עָלָ֔יו ʿal אַדְמַת ground. ʾădāmâ קֹ֖דֶשׁ holy qōdeš הֽוּא׃ hûʾ
  6. וַיֹּ֗אמֶר Moreover he said, ʾāmar אָֽנֹכִי֙ I ʾānōkî אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ʾĕlōhîm אָבִ֔יךָ of thy father, ʾāb אֱלֹהֵ֧י the God ʾĕlōhîm אַבְרָהָ֛ם of Abraham, ʾabrāhām אֱלֹהֵ֥י the God ʾĕlōhîm יִצְחָ֖ק of Isaac, yiṣḥāq וֵֽאלֹהֵ֣י and the God ʾĕlōhîm יַֽעֲקֹ֑ב of Jacob. yaʿăqōb וַיַּסְתֵּ֤ר hid sātar מֹשֶׁה֙ And Moses mōše פָּנָ֔יו his face; pānîm כִּ֣י for יָרֵ֔א he was afraid yārēʾ מֵֽהַבִּ֖יט to look nābaṭ אֶל upon ʾēl הָֽאֱלֹהִֽים׃ God. ʾĕlōhîm
  7. וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said, ʾāmar יְהוָ֔ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ רָאֹ֥ה I have surely rāʾâ רָאִ֛יתִי seen rāʾâ אֶת ʾēt עֳנִ֥י the affliction ʿŏnî עַמִּ֖י of my people ʿam אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer בְּמִצְרָ֑יִם in Egypt, miṣrayim וְאֶת ʾēt צַֽעֲקָתָ֤ם their cry ṣaʿăqâ שָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙ and have heard šāmaʿ מִפְּנֵ֣י by reason of pānîm נֹֽגְשָׂ֔יו their taskmasters; nāgaś כִּ֥י for יָדַ֖עְתִּי I know yādaʿ אֶת ʾēt מַכְאֹבָֽיו׃ their sorrows; makʾōb
  8. וָֽאֵרֵ֞ד And I am come down yārad לְהַצִּיל֣וֹ׀ to deliver nāṣal מִיַּ֣ד them out of the hand yād מִצְרַ֗יִם of the Egyptians, miṣrayim וּֽלְהַעֲלֹתוֹ֮ and to bring ʿālâ מִן them up out of min הָאָ֣רֶץ land ʾereṣ הַהִוא֒ that hûʾ אֶל unto ʾēl אֶ֤רֶץ land ʾereṣ טוֹבָה֙ a good ṭôb וּרְחָבָ֔ה and a large, rāḥāb אֶל unto ʾēl אֶ֛רֶץ a land ʾereṣ זָבַ֥ת flowing zûb חָלָ֖ב with milk ḥālāb וּדְבָ֑שׁ and honey; dĕbaš אֶל unto ʾēl מְק֤וֹם the place māqôm הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ of the Canaanites, kĕnaʿanî וְהַ֣חִתִּ֔י and the Hittites, ḥittî וְהָֽאֱמֹרִי֙ and the Amorites, ʾĕmōrî וְהַפְּרִזִּ֔י and the Perizzites, pĕrizzî וְהַֽחִוִּ֖י and the Hivites, ḥiwwî וְהַיְבוּסִֽי׃ and the Jebusites. yĕbûsî
  9. וְעַתָּ֕ה Now ʿattâ הִנֵּ֛ה therefore, behold, hinnē צַֽעֲקַ֥ת the cry ṣaʿăqâ בְּנֵֽי of the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl בָּ֣אָה is come bôʾ אֵלָ֑י unto ʾēl וְגַם me: and I have also gam רָאִ֙יתִי֙ seen rāʾâ אֶת ʾēt הַלַּ֔חַץ the oppression laḥaṣ אֲשֶׁ֥ר wherewith ʾăšer מִצְרַ֖יִם the Egyptians miṣrayim לֹֽחֲצִ֥ים oppress them. lāḥaṣ אֹתָֽם׃ ʾēt
  10. וְעַתָּ֣ה now ʿattâ לְכָ֔ה Come hālak וְאֶֽשְׁלָחֲךָ֖ therefore, and I will send šālaḥ אֶל thee unto ʾēl פַּרְעֹ֑ה Pharaoh, parʿō וְהוֹצֵ֛א that thou mayest bring forth yāṣāʾ אֶת ʾēt עַמִּ֥י my people ʿam בְנֵֽי the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃ out of Egypt. miṣrayim
  11. וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said ʾāmar מֹשֶׁה֙ And Moses mōše אֶל unto ʾēl הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים God, ʾĕlōhîm מִ֣י Who אָנֹ֔כִי I, ʾānōkî כִּ֥י that אֵלֵ֖ךְ I should go hālak אֶל unto ʾēl פַּרְעֹ֑ה Pharaoh, parʿō וְכִ֥י and that אוֹצִ֛יא I should bring forth yāṣāʾ אֶת ʾēt בְּנֵ֥י the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃ out of Egypt? miṣrayim
  12. וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ And he said, ʾāmar כִּֽי Certainly אֶֽהְיֶ֣ה I will be hāyâ עִמָּ֔ךְ with ʿim וְזֶה thee; and this ze לְּךָ֣ הָא֔וֹת a token ʾôt כִּ֥י unto thee, that אָֽנֹכִ֖י I ʾānōkî שְׁלַחְתִּ֑יךָ have sent šālaḥ בְּהוֹצִֽיאֲךָ֤ thee: When thou hast brought forth yāṣāʾ אֶת ʾēt הָעָם֙ the people ʿam מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם out of Egypt, miṣrayim תַּֽעַבְדוּן֙ ye shall serve ʿābad אֶת ʾēt הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים God ʾĕlōhîm עַ֖ל upon ʿal הָהָ֥ר mountain. har הַזֶּֽה׃ this ze
  13. וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said ʾāmar מֹשֶׁ֜ה And Moses mōše אֶל unto ʾēl הָֽאֱלֹהִ֗ים God, ʾĕlōhîm הִנֵּ֨ה Behold, hinnē אָֽנֹכִ֣י I ʾānōkî בָא֮ come bôʾ אֶל unto ʾēl בְּנֵ֣י the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ of Israel, yiśrāʾēl וְאָֽמַרְתִּ֣י and shall say ʾāmar לָהֶ֔ם אֱלֹהֵ֥י unto them, The God ʾĕlōhîm אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם of your fathers ʾāb שְׁלָחַ֣נִי hath sent šālaḥ אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם me unto ʾēl וְאָֽמְרוּ you; and they shall say ʾāmar לִ֣י מַה to me, What שְּׁמ֔וֹ his name? šēm מָ֥ה what אֹמַ֖ר shall I say ʾāmar אֲלֵהֶֽם׃ unto them? ʾēl
  14. וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said ʾāmar אֱלֹהִים֙ And God ʾĕlōhîm אֶל unto ʾēl מֹשֶׁ֔ה Moses, mōše אֶֽהְיֶ֖ה I AM hāyâ אֲשֶׁ֣ר THAT ʾăšer אֶֽהְיֶ֑ה I AM: hāyâ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר and he said, ʾāmar כֹּ֤ה Thus תֹאמַר֙ shalt thou say ʾāmar לִבְנֵ֣י unto the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl אֶֽהְיֶ֖ה I AM hāyâ שְׁלָחַ֥נִי hath sent šālaḥ אֲלֵיכֶֽם׃ me unto you. ʾēl
  15. וַיֹּאמֶר֩ said ʾāmar ע֨וֹד moreover ʿôd אֱלֹהִ֜ים And God ʾĕlōhîm אֶל unto ʾēl מֹשֶׁ֗ה Moses, mōše כֹּֽה Thus תֹאמַר֮ shalt thou say ʾāmar אֶל unto ʾēl בְּנֵ֣י the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ of Israel, yiśrāʾēl יְהוָ֞ה The Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֣י God ʾĕlōhîm אֲבֹֽתֵיכֶ֗ם of your fathers, ʾāb אֱלֹהֵ֨י the God ʾĕlōhîm אַבְרָהָ֜ם of Abraham, ʾabrāhām אֱלֹהֵ֥י the God ʾĕlōhîm יִצְחָ֛ק of Isaac, yiṣḥāq וֵֽאלֹהֵ֥י and the God ʾĕlōhîm יַֽעֲקֹ֖ב of Jacob, yaʿăqōb שְׁלָחַ֣נִי hath sent šālaḥ אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם me unto ʾēl זֶה you: this ze שְּׁמִ֣י my name šēm לְעֹלָ֔ם for ever, ʿôlām וְזֶ֥ה and this ze זִכְרִ֖י my memorial zēker לְדֹ֥ר unto all dôr דֹּֽר׃ generations. dôr
  16. לֵ֣ךְ Go, hālak וְאָֽסַפְתָּ֞ and gather together, ʾāsap אֶת ʾēt זִקְנֵ֣י the elders zāqēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl וְאָֽמַרְתָּ֤ and say ʾāmar אֲלֵהֶם֙ unto ʾēl יְהוָ֞ה them, The Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֤י God ʾĕlōhîm אֲבֹֽתֵיכֶם֙ of your fathers, ʾāb נִרְאָ֣ה appeared rāʾâ אֵלַ֔י unto ʾēl אֱלֹהֵ֧י the God ʾĕlōhîm אַבְרָהָ֛ם of Abraham, ʾabrāhām יִצְחָ֥ק of Isaac, yiṣḥāq וְיַֽעֲקֹ֖ב and of Jacob, yaʿăqōb לֵאמֹ֑ר me, saying, ʾāmar פָּקֹ֤ד I have surely pāqad פָּקַ֙דְתִּי֙ visited pāqad אֶתְכֶ֔ם ʾēt וְאֶת ʾēt הֶֽעָשׂ֥וּי you, and that which is done ʿāśâ לָכֶ֖ם בְּמִצְרָֽיִם׃ to you in Egypt: miṣrayim
  17. וָֽאֹמַ֗ר And I have said, ʾāmar אַֽעֲלֶ֣ה I will bring you up ʿālâ אֶתְכֶם֮ ʾēt מֵֽעֳנִ֣י out of the affliction ʿŏnî מִצְרַיִם֒ of Egypt miṣrayim אֶל unto ʾēl אֶ֤רֶץ the land ʾereṣ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ of the Canaanites, kĕnaʿanî וְהַ֣חִתִּ֔י and the Hittites, ḥittî וְהָֽאֱמֹרִי֙ and the Amorites, ʾĕmōrî וְהַפְּרִזִּ֔י and the Perizzites, pĕrizzî וְהַֽחִוִּ֖י and the Hivites, ḥiwwî וְהַיְבוּסִ֑י and the Jebusites, yĕbûsî אֶל unto ʾēl אֶ֛רֶץ a land ʾereṣ זָבַ֥ת flowing zûb חָלָ֖ב with milk ḥālāb וּדְבָֽשׁ׃ and honey. dĕbaš
  18. וְשָֽׁמְע֖וּ And they shall hearken šāmaʿ לְקֹלֶ֑ךָ to thy voice: qôl וּבָאתָ֡ and thou shalt come, bôʾ אַתָּה֩ thou ʾattâ וְזִקְנֵ֨י and the elders zāqēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl אֶל unto ʾēl מֶ֣לֶךְ the king melek מִצְרַ֗יִם of Egypt, miṣrayim וַֽאֲמַרְתֶּ֤ם and ye shall say ʾāmar אֵלָיו֙ unto ʾēl יְהוָ֞ה him, The Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֤י God ʾĕlōhîm הָֽעִבְרִיִּים֙ of the Hebrews ʿibrî נִקְרָ֣ה hath met qārâ עָלֵ֔ינוּ with ʿal וְעַתָּ֗ה us: and now ʿattâ נֵֽלֲכָה let us go, hālak נָּ֞א we beseech thee, nāʾ דֶּ֣רֶךְ journey derek שְׁלֹ֤שֶׁת three šālôš יָמִים֙ days' yôm בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר into the wilderness, midbār וְנִזְבְּחָ֖ה that we may sacrifice zābaḥ לַֽיהוָ֥ה to the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ our God. ʾĕlōhîm
  19. וַֽאֲנִ֣י And I ʾănî יָדַ֔עְתִּי am sure yādaʿ כִּ֠י that לֹֽא will not lōʾ יִתֵּ֥ן let nātan אֶתְכֶ֛ם ʾēt מֶ֥לֶךְ the king melek מִצְרַ֖יִם of Egypt miṣrayim לַֽהֲלֹ֑ךְ you go, hālak וְלֹ֖א no, lōʾ בְּיָ֥ד hand. yād חֲזָקָֽה׃ not by a mighty ḥāzāq
  20. וְשָֽׁלַחְתִּ֤י And I will stretch out šālaḥ אֶת ʾēt יָדִי֙ my hand, yād וְהִכֵּיתִ֣י and smite nākâ אֶת ʾēt מִצְרַ֔יִם Egypt miṣrayim בְּכֹל֙ with all kōl נִפְלְאֹתַ֔י my wonders pālāʾ אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֖ה I will do ʿāśâ בְּקִרְבּ֑וֹ in the midst qereb וְאַֽחֲרֵי thereof: and after ʾaḥar כֵ֖ן that kēn יְשַׁלַּ֥ח he will let you go. šālaḥ אֶתְכֶֽם׃ ʾēt
  21. וְנָֽתַתִּ֛י And I will give nātan אֶת ʾēt חֵ֥ן favour ḥēn הָֽעָם people ʿam הַזֶּ֖ה this ze בְּעֵינֵ֣י in the sight ʿayin מִצְרָ֑יִם of the Egyptians: miṣrayim וְהָיָה֙ and it shall come to pass, hāyâ כִּ֣י that, when תֵֽלֵכ֔וּן ye go, hālak לֹ֥א ye shall not lōʾ תֵֽלְכ֖וּ go hālak רֵיקָֽם׃ empty: rêqām
  22. וְשָֽׁאֲלָ֨ה shall borrow šāʾal אִשָּׁ֤ה But every woman ʾiššâ מִשְּׁכֶנְתָּהּ֙ of her neighbour, šākēn וּמִגָּרַ֣ת and of her that sojourneth gûr בֵּיתָ֔הּ in her house, bayit כְּלֵי jewels kĕlî כֶ֛סֶף of silver, kesep וּכְלֵ֥י and jewels kĕlî זָהָ֖ב of gold, zāhāb וּשְׂמָלֹ֑ת and raiment: śimlâ וְשַׂמְתֶּ֗ם and ye shall put śûm עַל upon ʿal בְּנֵיכֶם֙ your sons, bēn וְעַל and upon ʿal בְּנֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם your daughters; bat וְנִצַּלְתֶּ֖ם and ye shall spoil nāṣal אֶת ʾēt מִצְרָֽיִם׃ the Egyptians. miṣrayim
