  1. וְעַתָּ֣ה Now ʿattâ יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל O Israel, yiśrāʾēl שְׁמַ֤ע therefore hearken, šāmaʿ אֶל unto ʾēl הַֽחֻקִּים֙ the statutes ḥōq וְאֶל and unto ʾēl הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֔ים the judgments, mišpāṭ אֲשֶׁ֧ר which ʾăšer אָֽנֹכִ֛י I ʾānōkî מְלַמֵּ֥ד teach lāmad אֶתְכֶ֖ם ʾēt לַֽעֲשׂ֑וֹת you, for to do ʿāśâ לְמַ֣עַן that maʿan תִּֽחְי֗וּ ye may live, ḥāyâ וּבָאתֶם֙ and go in bôʾ וִֽירִשְׁתֶּ֣ם and possess yāraš אֶת ʾēt הָאָ֔רֶץ the land ʾereṣ אֲשֶׁ֧ר which ʾăšer יְהוָ֛ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֥י God ʾĕlōhîm אֲבֹֽתֵיכֶ֖ם of your fathers ʾāb נֹתֵ֥ן giveth you. nātan לָכֶֽם׃
  2. לֹ֣א Ye shall not lōʾ תֹסִ֗פוּ add yāsap עַל unto ʿal הַדָּבָר֙ the word dābār אֲשֶׁ֤ר which ʾăšer אָֽנֹכִי֙ I ʾānōkî מְצַוֶּ֣ה command ṣāwâ אֶתְכֶ֔ם ʾēt וְלֹ֥א you, neither lōʾ תִגְרְע֖וּ shall ye diminish gāraʿ מִמֶּ֑נּוּ from min לִשְׁמֹ֗ר it, that ye may keep šāmar אֶת ʾēt מִצְוֹת֙ the commandments miṣwâ יְהוָ֣ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם your God ʾĕlōhîm אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer אָֽנֹכִ֖י I ʾānōkî מְצַוֶּ֥ה command you. ṣāwâ אֶתְכֶֽם׃ ʾēt
  3. עֵֽינֵיכֶם֙ Your eyes ʿayin הָֽרֹא֔וֹת have seen rāʾâ אֵ֛ת ʾēt אֲשֶׁר what ʾăšer עָשָׂ֥ה did ʿāśâ יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ בְּבַ֣עַל פְּע֑וֹר because of Baal-peor: baʿal pĕʿôr כִּ֣י for כָל all kōl הָאִ֗ישׁ the men ʾîš אֲשֶׁ֤ר that ʾăšer הָלַךְ֙ hālak אַֽחֲרֵ֣י followed ʾaḥar בַֽעַל פְּע֔וֹר Baal-peor, baʿal pĕʿôr הִשְׁמִיד֛וֹ hath destroyed šāmad יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm מִקִּרְבֶּֽךָ׃ them from among you. qereb
  4. וְאַתֶּם֙ But ye ʾattâ הַדְּבֵקִ֔ים that did cleave dābēq בַּֽיהוָ֖ה unto the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֑ם your God ʾĕlōhîm חַיִּ֥ים alive ḥay כֻּלְּכֶ֖ם every one kōl הַיּֽוֹם׃ of you this day. yôm
  5. רְאֵ֣ה׀ Behold, rāʾâ לִמַּ֣דְתִּי I have taught lāmad אֶתְכֶ֗ם ʾēt חֻקִּים֙ you statutes ḥōq וּמִשְׁפָּטִ֔ים and judgments, mišpāṭ כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר even as ʾăšer צִוַּ֖נִי commanded ṣāwâ יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהָ֑י my God ʾĕlōhîm לַֽעֲשׂ֣וֹת me, that ye should do ʿāśâ כֵּ֔ן so kēn בְּקֶ֣רֶב in qereb הָאָ֔רֶץ the land ʾereṣ אֲשֶׁ֥ר whither ʾăšer אַתֶּ֛ם ye ʾattâ בָּאִ֥ים go bôʾ שָׁ֖מָּה šām לְרִשְׁתָּֽהּ׃ to possess it. yāraš
  6. וּשְׁמַרְתֶּם֮ Keep šāmar וַֽעֲשִׂיתֶם֒ therefore and do ʿāśâ כִּ֣י for הִ֤וא this hûʾ חָכְמַתְכֶם֙ your wisdom ḥokmâ וּבִ֣ינַתְכֶ֔ם and your understanding bînâ לְעֵינֵ֖י in the sight ʿayin הָֽעַמִּ֑ים of the nations, ʿam אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer יִשְׁמְע֗וּן shall hear šāmaʿ אֵ֚ת ʾēt כָּל all kōl הַֽחֻקִּ֣ים statutes, ḥōq הָאֵ֔לֶּה these ʾēlle וְאָֽמְר֗וּ and say, ʾāmar רַ֚ק Surely raq עַם people. ʿam חָכָ֣ם a wise ḥākām וְנָב֔וֹן and understanding bîn הַגּ֥וֹי nation gôy הַגָּד֖וֹל great gādôl הַזֶּֽה׃ this ze
  7. כִּ֚י For מִי what ג֣וֹי nation gôy גָּד֔וֹל great, gādôl אֲשֶׁר who ʾăšer ל֥וֹ אֱלֹהִ֖ים God ʾĕlōhîm קְרֹבִ֣ים nigh qārôb אֵלָ֑יו unto ʾēl כַּֽיהוָ֣ה them, as the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ our God ʾĕlōhîm בְּכָל in all kōl קָרְאֵ֖נוּ we call qārāʾ אֵלָֽיו׃ upon him ʾēl
  8. וּמִי֙ And what גּ֣וֹי nation gôy גָּד֔וֹל great, gādôl אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer ל֛וֹ חֻקִּ֥ים hath statutes ḥōq וּמִשְׁפָּטִ֖ים and judgments mišpāṭ צַדִּיקִ֑ם righteous ṣaddîq כְּכֹל֙ as all kōl הַתּוֹרָ֣ה law, tôrâ הַזֹּ֔את this zōt אֲשֶׁ֧ר which ʾăšer אָֽנֹכִ֛י I ʾānōkî נֹתֵ֥ן set nātan לִפְנֵיכֶ֖ם before pānîm הַיּֽוֹם׃ you this day? yôm
  9. רַ֡ק Only raq הִשָּׁ֣מֶר take heed šāmar לְךָ֩ וּשְׁמֹ֨ר to thyself, and keep šāmar נַפְשְׁךָ֜ thy soul nepeš מְאֹ֗ד diligently, mĕʾōd פֶּן lest pēn תִּשְׁכַּ֨ח thou forget šākaḥ אֶת ʾēt הַדְּבָרִ֜ים the things dābār אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer רָא֣וּ have seen, rāʾâ עֵינֶ֗יךָ thine eyes ʿayin וּפֶן and lest pēn יָס֙וּרוּ֙ they depart sûr מִלְּבָ֣בְךָ֔ from thy heart lēbāb כֹּ֖ל all kōl יְמֵ֣י the days yôm חַיֶּ֑יךָ of thy life: ḥay וְהֽוֹדַעְתָּ֥ם but teach yādaʿ לְבָנֶ֖יךָ them thy sons, bēn וְלִבְנֵ֥י and thy sons' bēn בָנֶֽיךָ׃ sons; bēn
  10. י֗וֹם the day yôm אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ʾăšer עָמַ֜דְתָּ thou stoodest ʿāmad לִפְנֵ֨י before pānîm יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶיךָ֮ thy God ʾĕlōhîm בְּחֹרֵב֒ in Horeb, ḥōrēb בֶּֽאֱמֹ֨ר said ʾāmar יְהוָ֜ה when the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵלַ֗י unto ʾēl הַקְהֶל me, Gather together, qāhal לִי֙ אֶת ʾēt הָעָ֔ם me the people ʿam וְאַשְׁמִעֵ֖ם and I will make them hear šāmaʿ אֶת ʾēt דְּבָרָ֑י my words, dābār אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ʾăšer יִלְמְד֜וּן they may learn lāmad לְיִרְאָ֣ה to fear yārēʾ אֹתִ֗י ʾēt כָּל me all kōl הַיָּמִים֙ the days yôm אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ʾăšer הֵ֤ם they hēm חַיִּים֙ shall live ḥay עַל upon ʿal הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה the earth, ʾădāmâ וְאֶת ʾēt בְּנֵיהֶ֖ם their children. bēn יְלַמֵּדֽוּן׃ and they may teach lāmad
  11. וַתִּקְרְב֥וּן And ye came near qārab וַתַּֽעַמְד֖וּן and stood ʿāmad תַּ֣חַת under taḥat הָהָ֑ר the mountain; har וְהָהָ֞ר and the mountain har בֹּעֵ֤ר burned bāʿar בָּאֵשׁ֙ with fire ʾēš עַד unto ʿad לֵ֣ב the midst lēb הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם of heaven, šāmayim חֹ֖שֶׁךְ and thick darkness. ḥōšek עָנָ֥ן clouds, ʿānān וַֽעֲרָפֶֽל׃ with darkness, ʿărāpel
  12. וַיְדַבֵּ֧ר spake dābar יְהוָ֛ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֲלֵיכֶ֖ם unto ʾēl מִתּ֣וֹךְ you out of the midst tāwek הָאֵ֑שׁ of the fire: ʾēš ק֤וֹל the voice qôl דְּבָרִים֙ of the words, dābār אַתֶּ֣ם ye ʾattâ שֹֽׁמְעִ֔ים heard šāmaʿ וּתְמוּנָ֛ה similitude; tĕmûnâ אֵֽינְכֶ֥ם no ʾayin רֹאִ֖ים but saw rāʾâ זֽוּלָתִ֥י only zûlâ קֽוֹל׃ a voice. qôl
  13. וַיַּגֵּ֨ד And he declared nāgad לָכֶ֜ם אֶת unto you ʾēt בְּרִית֗וֹ his covenant, bĕrît אֲשֶׁ֨ר which ʾăšer צִוָּ֤ה he commanded ṣāwâ אֶתְכֶם֙ ʾēt לַֽעֲשׂ֔וֹת you to perform, ʿāśâ עֲשֶׂ֖רֶת ten ʿeśer הַדְּבָרִ֑ים commandments; dābār וַֽיִּכְתְּבֵ֔ם and he wrote kātab עַל them upon ʿal שְׁנֵ֖י two šĕnayim לֻח֥וֹת tables lûaḥ אֲבָנִֽים׃ of stone. ʾeben
  14. וְאֹתִ֞י ʾēt צִוָּ֤ה commanded ṣāwâ יְהוָה֙ And the Lord yĕhōwâ בָּעֵ֣ת time ʿēt הַהִ֔וא me at that hûʾ לְלַמֵּ֣ד to teach lāmad אֶתְכֶ֔ם ʾēt חֻקִּ֖ים you statutes ḥōq וּמִשְׁפָּטִ֑ים and judgments, mišpāṭ לַעֲשֹֽׂתְכֶ֣ם that ye might do ʿāśâ אֹתָ֔ם ʾēt בָּאָ֕רֶץ them in the land ʾereṣ אֲשֶׁ֥ר whither ʾăšer אַתֶּ֛ם ye ʾattâ עֹֽבְרִ֥ים go over ʿābar שָׁ֖מָּה šām לְרִשְׁתָּֽהּ׃ to possess it. yāraš
  15. וְנִשְׁמַרְתֶּ֥ם heed šāmar מְאֹ֖ד Take ye therefore good mĕʾōd לְנַפְשֹֽׁתֵיכֶ֑ם unto yourselves; nepeš כִּ֣י for לֹ֤א no lōʾ רְאִיתֶם֙ ye saw rāʾâ כָּל manner kōl תְּמוּנָ֔ה of similitude tĕmûnâ בְּי֗וֹם on the day yôm דִּבֶּ֨ר spake dābar יְהוָ֧ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֲלֵיכֶ֛ם unto ʾēl בְּחֹרֵ֖ב you in Horeb ḥōrēb מִתּ֥וֹךְ out of the midst tāwek הָאֵֽשׁ׃ of the fire: ʾēš
  16. פֶּ֨ן Lest pēn תַּשְׁחִת֔וּן ye corrupt šāḥat וַֽעֲשִׂיתֶ֥ם and make ʿāśâ לָכֶ֛ם פֶּ֖סֶל you a graven image, pesel תְּמוּנַ֣ת the similitude tĕmûnâ כָּל of any kōl סָ֑מֶל figure, semel תַּבְנִ֥ית the likeness tabnît זָכָ֖ר of male zākār א֥וֹ or ʾô נְקֵבָֽה׃ female, nĕqēbâ
  17. תַּבְנִ֕ית The likeness tabnît כָּל of any kōl בְּהֵמָ֖ה beast bĕhēmâ אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer בָּאָ֑רֶץ on the earth, ʾereṣ תַּבְנִית֙ the likeness tabnît כָּל of any kōl צִפּ֣וֹר fowl ṣippôr כָּנָ֔ף winged kānāp אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer תָּע֖וּף flieth ʿûp בַּשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ in the air, šāmayim
  18. תַּבְנִ֕ית The likeness tabnît כָּל of any thing kōl רֹמֵ֖שׂ that creepeth rāmaś בָּֽאֲדָמָ֑ה on the ground, ʾădāmâ תַּבְנִ֛ית the likeness tabnît כָּל of any kōl דָּגָ֥ה fish dāgâ אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer בַּמַּ֖יִם in the waters mayim מִתַּ֥חַת beneath taḥat לָאָֽרֶץ׃ the earth: ʾereṣ
  19. וּפֶן And lest pēn תִּשָּׂ֨א thou lift up nāśāʾ עֵינֶ֜יךָ thine eyes ʿayin הַשָּׁמַ֗יְמָה unto heaven, šāmayim וְֽ֠רָאִיתָ and when thou seest rāʾâ אֶת ʾēt הַשֶּׁ֨מֶשׁ the sun, šemeš וְאֶת ʾēt הַיָּרֵ֜חַ and the moon, yārēaḥ וְאֶת ʾēt הַכּֽוֹכָבִ֗ים and the stars, kôkāb כֹּ֚ל all kōl צְבָ֣א the host ṣābāʾ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם of heaven, šāmayim וְנִדַּחְתָּ֛ shouldest be driven nādaḥ וְהִשְׁתַּֽחֲוִ֥יתָ to worship šāḥâ לָהֶ֖ם וַֽעֲבַדְתָּ֑ם them, and serve ʿābad אֲשֶׁ֨ר them, which ʾăšer חָלַ֜ק hath divided ḥālaq יְהוָ֤ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙ thy God ʾĕlōhîm אֹתָ֔ם ʾēt לְכֹל֙ unto all kōl הָֽעַמִּ֔ים nations ʿam תַּ֖חַת under taḥat כָּל the whole kōl הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ heaven. šāmayim
  20. וְאֶתְכֶם֙ ʾēt לָקַ֣ח hath taken lāqaḥ יְהוָ֔ה But the Lord yĕhōwâ וַיּוֹצִ֥א you, and brought you forth yāṣāʾ אֶתְכֶ֛ם ʾēt מִכּ֥וּר furnace, kûr הַבַּרְזֶ֖ל out of the iron barzel מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם out of Egypt, miṣrayim לִֽהְי֥וֹת to be hāyâ ל֛וֹ לְעַ֥ם unto him a people ʿam נַֽחֲלָ֖ה of inheritance, naḥălâ כַּיּ֥וֹם day. yôm הַזֶּֽה׃ as this ze
  21. וַֽיהוָ֥ה Furthermore the Lord yĕhōwâ הִתְאַנֶּף was angry ʾānap בִּ֖י עַל ʿal דִּבְרֵיכֶ֑ם with me for your sakes, dābār וַיִּשָּׁבַ֗ע and sware šābaʿ לְבִלְתִּ֤י that I should not biltî עָבְרִי֙ go over ʿābar אֶת ʾēt הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן Jordan, yardēn וּלְבִלְתִּי and that I should not biltî בֹא֙ go in bôʾ אֶל unto ʾēl הָאָ֣רֶץ land, ʾereṣ הַטּוֹבָ֔ה that good ṭôb אֲשֶׁר֙ which ʾăšer יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm נֹתֵ֥ן giveth nātan לְךָ֖ נַֽחֲלָֽה׃ thee an inheritance: naḥălâ
  22. כִּ֣י But אָֽנֹכִ֥י I ʾānōkî מֵת֙ must die mût בָּאָ֣רֶץ land, ʾereṣ הַזֹּ֔את in this zōt אֵינֶ֥נִּי I must not ʾayin עֹבֵ֖ר go over ʿābar אֶת ʾēt הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן Jordan: yardēn וְאַתֶּם֙ but ye ʾattâ עֹֽבְרִ֔ים shall go over, ʿābar וִֽירִשְׁתֶּ֕ם and possess yāraš אֶת ʾēt הָאָ֥רֶץ land. ʾereṣ הַטּוֹבָ֖ה good ṭôb הַזֹּֽאת׃ that zōt
  23. הִשָּֽׁמְר֣וּ Take heed šāmar לָכֶ֗ם פֶּֽן unto yourselves, lest pēn תִּשְׁכְּחוּ֙ ye forget šākaḥ אֶת ʾēt בְּרִ֤ית the covenant bĕrît יְהוָה֙ of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹ֣הֵיכֶ֔ם your God, ʾĕlōhîm אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer כָּרַ֖ת he made kārat עִמָּכֶ֑ם with ʿim וַֽעֲשִׂיתֶ֨ם you, and make ʿāśâ לָכֶ֥ם פֶּ֙סֶל֙ you a graven image, pesel תְּמ֣וּנַת the likeness tĕmûnâ כֹּ֔ל of any kōl אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer צִוְּךָ֖ hath forbidden thee. ṣāwâ יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃ thy God ʾĕlōhîm
  24. כִּ֚י For יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm אֵ֥שׁ fire, ʾēš אֹֽכְלָ֖ה a consuming ʾākal ה֑וּא hûʾ אֵ֖ל God. ʾēl קַנָּֽא׃ a jealous qannāʾ
  25. כִּֽי When תוֹלִ֤יד thou shalt beget yālad בָּנִים֙ children, bēn וּבְנֵ֣י and children's bēn בָנִ֔ים children, bēn וְנֽוֹשַׁנְתֶּ֖ם and ye shall have remained long yāšēn בָּאָ֑רֶץ in the land, ʾereṣ וְהִשְׁחַתֶּ֗ם and shall corrupt šāḥat וַֽעֲשִׂ֤יתֶם and make ʿāśâ פֶּ֙סֶל֙ a graven image, pesel תְּמ֣וּנַת the likeness tĕmûnâ כֹּ֔ל of any kōl וַֽעֲשִׂיתֶ֥ם and shall do ʿāśâ הָרַ֛ע evil raʿ בְּעֵינֵ֥י in the sight ʿayin יְהוָֽה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ thy God, ʾĕlōhîm לְהַכְעִיסֽוֹ׃ to provoke him to anger: kaʿas
  26. הַֽעִידֹתִי֩ to witness ʿûd בָכֶ֨ם הַיּ֜וֹם against you this day, yôm אֶת I call ʾēt הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם heaven šāmayim וְאֶת ʾēt הָאָ֗רֶץ and earth ʾereṣ כִּֽי that אָבֹ֣ד utterly ʾābad תֹּֽאבֵדוּן֮ perish ʾābad מַהֵר֒ ye shall soon mahēr מֵעַ֣ל from off ʿal הָאָ֔רֶץ the land ʾereṣ אֲשֶׁ֨ר whereunto ʾăšer אַתֶּ֜ם ye ʾattâ עֹֽבְרִ֧ים go over ʿābar אֶת ʾēt הַיַּרְדֵּ֛ן Jordan yardēn שָׁ֖מָּה šām לְרִשְׁתָּ֑הּ to possess yāraš לֹֽא it; ye shall not lōʾ תַאֲרִיכֻ֤ן prolong ʾārak יָמִים֙ days yôm עָלֶ֔יהָ upon ʿal כִּ֥י it, but הִשָּׁמֵ֖ד shall utterly šāmad תִּשָּֽׁמֵדֽוּן׃ be destroyed. šāmad
  27. וְהֵפִ֧יץ shall scatter pûṣ יְהוָ֛ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶתְכֶ֖ם ʾēt בָּֽעַמִּ֑ים you among the nations, ʿam וְנִשְׁאַרְתֶּם֙ and ye shall be left šāʾar מְתֵ֣י few mat מִסְפָּ֔ר in number mispār בַּגּוֹיִ֕ם among the heathen, gôy אֲשֶׁ֨ר whither ʾăšer יְנַהֵ֧ג shall lead you. nāhag יְהוָ֛ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶתְכֶ֖ם ʾēt שָֽׁמָּה׃ šām
  28. וַֽעֲבַדְתֶּם ye shall serve ʿābad שָׁ֣ם And there šām אֱלֹהִ֔ים gods, ʾĕlōhîm מַֽעֲשֵׂ֖ה the work maʿăśe יְדֵ֣י hands, yād אָדָ֑ם of men's ʾādām עֵ֣ץ wood ʿēṣ וָאֶ֔בֶן and stone, ʾeben אֲשֶׁ֤ר which ʾăšer לֹֽא neither lōʾ יִרְאוּן֙ see, rāʾâ וְלֹ֣א nor lōʾ יִשְׁמְע֔וּן hear, šāmaʿ וְלֹ֥א nor lōʾ יֹֽאכְל֖וּן eat, ʾākal וְלֹ֥א nor lōʾ יְרִיחֻֽן׃ smell. rûaḥ
  29. וּבִקַּשְׁתֶּ֥ם thou shalt seek bāqaš מִשָּׁ֛ם But if from thence šām אֶת ʾēt יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ thy God, ʾĕlōhîm וּמָצָ֑אתָ thou shalt find māṣāʾ כִּ֣י if תִדְרְשֶׁ֔נּוּ thou seek dāraš בְּכָל him with all kōl לְבָֽבְךָ֖ thy heart lēbāb וּבְכָל and with all kōl נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃ thy soul. nepeš
  30. בַּצַּ֣ר When thou art in tribulation, ṣar לְךָ֔ וּמְצָא֕וּךָ are come māṣāʾ כֹּ֖ל and all kōl הַדְּבָרִ֣ים things dābār הָאֵ֑לֶּה these ʾēlle בְּאַֽחֲרִית֙ upon thee, in the latter ʾaḥărît הַיָּמִ֔ים days, yôm וְשַׁבְתָּ֙ if thou turn šûb עַד to ʿad יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ thy God, ʾĕlōhîm וְשָֽׁמַעְתָּ֖ and shalt be obedient šāmaʿ בְּקֹלֽוֹ׃ unto his voice; qôl
  31. כִּ֣י (For אֵ֤ל God;) ʾēl רַחוּם֙ a merciful raḥûm יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm לֹ֥א he will not lōʾ יַרְפְּךָ֖ forsake rāpâ וְלֹ֣א thee, neither lōʾ יַשְׁחִיתֶ֑ךָ destroy šāḥat וְלֹ֤א thee, nor lōʾ יִשְׁכַּח֙ forget šākaḥ אֶת ʾēt בְּרִ֣ית the covenant bĕrît אֲבֹתֶ֔יךָ of thy fathers ʾāb אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer נִשְׁבַּ֖ע he sware unto them. šābaʿ לָהֶֽם׃
  32. כִּ֣י For שְׁאַל ask šāʾal נָא֩ now nāʾ לְיָמִ֨ים of the days yôm רִֽאשֹׁנִ֜ים that are past, riʾšôn אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer הָי֣וּ were hāyâ לְפָנֶ֗יךָ before pānîm לְמִן thee, since min הַיּוֹם֙ the day yôm אֲשֶׁר֩ that ʾăšer בָּרָ֨א created bārāʾ אֱלֹהִ֤ים׀ God ʾĕlōhîm אָדָם֙ man ʾādām עַל upon ʿal הָאָ֔רֶץ the earth, ʾereṣ וּלְמִקְצֵ֥ה and from the one side qāṣe הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם of heaven šāmayim וְעַד unto ʿad קְצֵ֣ה the other, qāṣe הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם šāmayim הֲנִֽהְיָ֗ה whether there hath been hāyâ כַּדָּבָ֤ר thing dābār הַגָּדוֹל֙ great gādôl הַזֶּ֔ה as this ze א֖וֹ or ʾô הֲנִשְׁמַ֥ע hath been heard šāmaʿ כָּמֹֽהוּ׃ like it? kĕmô
  33. הֲשָׁ֣מַֽע hear šāmaʿ עָם֩ Did people ʿam ק֨וֹל the voice qôl אֱלֹהִ֜ים of God ʾĕlōhîm מְדַבֵּ֧ר speaking out dābar מִתּוֹךְ of the midst tāwek הָאֵ֛שׁ of the fire, ʾēš כַּֽאֲשֶׁר as ʾăšer שָׁמַ֥עְתָּ hast heard, šāmaʿ אַתָּ֖ה thou ʾattâ וַיֶּֽחִי׃ and live? ḥāyâ
  34. א֣וֹ׀ Or ʾô הֲנִסָּ֣ה assayed nāsâ אֱלֹהִ֗ים hath God ʾĕlōhîm לָ֠בוֹא to go bôʾ לָקַ֨חַת take lāqaḥ ל֣וֹ גוֹי֮ him a nation gôy מִקֶּ֣רֶב from the midst qereb גּוֹי֒ of nation, gôy בְּמַסֹּת֩ by temptations, massâ בְּאֹתֹ֨ת by signs, ʾôt וּבְמֽוֹפְתִ֜ים and by wonders, môpēt וּבְמִלְחָמָ֗ה and by war, milḥāmâ וּבְיָ֤ד hand, yād חֲזָקָה֙ and by a mighty ḥāzāq וּבִזְר֣וֹעַ arm, zĕrôaʿ נְטוּיָ֔ה and by a stretched out nāṭâ וּבְמֽוֹרָאִ֖ים terrors, môrāʾ גְּדֹלִ֑ים and by great gādôl כְּ֠כֹל according to all kōl אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer עָשָׂ֨ה did ʿāśâ לָכֶ֜ם יְהוָ֧ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֛ם your God ʾĕlōhîm בְּמִצְרַ֖יִם for you in Egypt miṣrayim לְעֵינֶֽיךָ׃ before your eyes? ʿayin
  35. אַתָּה֙ Unto thee ʾattâ הָרְאֵ֣תָ it was shewed, rāʾâ לָדַ֔עַת that thou mightest know yādaʿ כִּ֥י that יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ ה֣וּא he hûʾ הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים God; ʾĕlōhîm אֵ֥ין none ʾayin ע֖וֹד else ʿôd מִלְבַדּֽוֹ׃ beside him. bad
  36. מִן Out of min הַשָּׁמַ֛יִם heaven šāmayim הִשְׁמִֽיעֲךָ֥ he made thee to hear šāmaʿ אֶת ʾēt קֹל֖וֹ his voice, qôl לְיַסְּרֶ֑ךָּ that he might instruct yāsar וְעַל thee: and upon ʿal הָאָ֗רֶץ earth ʾereṣ הֶרְאֲךָ֙ he shewed rāʾâ אֶת thee ʾēt אִשּׁ֣וֹ fire; ʾēš הַגְּדוֹלָ֔ה his great gādôl וּדְבָרָ֥יו his words dābār שָׁמַ֖עְתָּ and thou heardest šāmaʿ מִתּ֥וֹךְ out of the midst tāwek הָאֵֽשׁ׃ of the fire. ʾēš
  37. וְתַ֗חַת And because taḥat כִּ֤י אָהַב֙ he loved ʾāhab אֶת ʾēt אֲבֹתֶ֔יךָ thy fathers, ʾāb וַיִּבְחַ֥ר therefore he chose bāḥar בְּזַרְע֖וֹ their seed zeraʿ אַֽחֲרָ֑יו after ʾaḥar וַיּוֹצִֽאֲךָ֧ them, and brought thee out yāṣāʾ בְּפָנָ֛יו in his sight pānîm בְּכֹח֥וֹ power kōaḥ הַגָּדֹ֖ל with his mighty gādôl מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃ out of Egypt; miṣrayim
  38. לְהוֹרִ֗ישׁ To drive out yāraš גּוֹיִ֛ם nations gôy גְּדֹלִ֧ים thee greater gādôl וַֽעֲצֻמִ֛ים and mightier ʿāṣûm מִמְּךָ֖ than min מִפָּנֶ֑יךָ from before pānîm לַהֲבִֽיאֲךָ֗ thou to bring bôʾ לָֽתֶת thee in, to give nātan לְךָ֧ אֶת thee ʾēt אַרְצָ֛ם their land ʾereṣ נַֽחֲלָ֖ה an inheritance, naḥălâ כַּיּ֥וֹם day. yôm הַזֶּֽה׃ as this ze
  39. וְיָֽדַעְתָּ֣ Know yādaʿ הַיּ֗וֹם therefore this day, yôm וַהֲשֵֽׁבֹתָ֮ and consider šûb אֶל in ʾēl לְבָבֶךָ֒ thine heart, lēbāb כִּ֤י that יְהוָה֙ the Lord yĕhōwâ ה֣וּא he hûʾ הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים God ʾĕlōhîm בַּשָּׁמַ֣יִם in heaven šāmayim מִמַּ֔עַל above, maʿal וְעַל and upon ʿal הָאָ֖רֶץ the earth ʾereṣ מִתָּ֑חַת beneath: taḥat אֵ֖ין none ʾayin עֽוֹד׃ else. ʿôd
  40. וְשָֽׁמַרְתָּ֞ Thou shalt keep šāmar אֶת therefore ʾēt חֻקָּ֣יו his statutes, ḥōq וְאֶת ʾēt מִצְוֹתָ֗יו and his commandments, miṣwâ אֲשֶׁ֨ר which ʾăšer אָֽנֹכִ֤י I ʾānōkî מְצַוְּךָ֙ command ṣāwâ הַיּ֔וֹם thee this day, yôm אֲשֶׁר֙ that ʾăšer יִיטַ֣ב it may go well yāṭab לְךָ֔ וּלְבָנֶ֖יךָ with thee, and with thy children bēn אַֽחֲרֶ֑יךָ after ʾaḥar וּלְמַ֨עַן thee, and that maʿan תַּֽאֲרִ֤יךְ thou mayest prolong ʾārak יָמִים֙ days yôm עַל upon ʿal הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה the earth, ʾădāmâ אֲשֶׁ֨ר which ʾăšer יְהוָ֧ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm נֹתֵ֥ן giveth nātan לְךָ֖ כָּל thee, for ever. kōl הַיָּמִֽים׃ yôm
  41. אָ֣ז Then ʾāz יַבְדִּ֤יל severed bādal מֹשֶׁה֙ Moses mōše שָׁלֹ֣שׁ three šālôš עָרִ֔ים cities ʿîr בְּעֵ֖בֶר on this side ʿēber הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן Jordan yardēn מִזְרְחָ֖ה mizrāḥ שָֽׁמֶשׁ׃ toward the sunrising; šemeš
  42. לָנֻ֨ס might flee nûs שָׁ֜מָּה thither, šām רוֹצֵ֗חַ That the slayer rāṣaḥ אֲשֶׁ֨ר which ʾăšer יִרְצַ֤ח should kill rāṣaḥ אֶת ʾēt רֵעֵ֙הוּ֙ his neighbour rēaʿ בִּבְלִי unawares, bĕlî דַ֔עַת daʿat וְה֛וּא hûʾ לֹֽא him not lōʾ שֹׂנֵ֥א and hated śānēʾ ל֖וֹ מִתְּמֹ֣ל in times tĕmôl שִׁלְשֹׁ֑ם past; šilšôm וְנָ֗ס and that fleeing nûs אֶל unto ʾēl אַחַ֛ת one ʾeḥād מִן of min הֶֽעָרִ֥ים cities ʿîr הָאֵ֖ל these ʾēl וָחָֽי׃ he might live: ḥāyay
  43. אֶת ʾēt בֶּ֧צֶר Bezer beṣer בַּמִּדְבָּ֛ר in the wilderness, midbār בְּאֶ֥רֶץ country, ʾereṣ הַמִּישֹׁ֖ר in the plain mîšôr לָרֻֽאוּבֵנִ֑י of the Reubenites; rĕʾûbēnî וְאֶת ʾēt רָאמֹ֤ת and Ramoth rāʾmôt בַּגִּלְעָד֙ in Gilead, gilʿād לַגָּדִ֔י of the Gadites; gādî וְאֶת ʾēt גּוֹלָ֥ן and Golan gôlān בַּבָּשָׁ֖ן in Bashan, bāšān לַֽמְנַשִּֽׁי׃ of the Manassites. mĕnaššî
  44. וְזֹ֖את And this zōt הַתּוֹרָ֑ה the law tôrâ אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer שָׂ֣ם set śûm מֹשֶׁ֔ה Moses mōše לִפְנֵ֖י before pānîm בְּנֵ֥י the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel: yiśrāʾēl
  45. אֵ֚לֶּה These ʾēlle הָֽעֵדֹ֔ת the testimonies, ʿēdâ וְהַֽחֻקִּ֖ים and the statutes, ḥōq וְהַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֑ים and the judgments, mišpāṭ אֲשֶׁ֨ר which ʾăšer דִּבֶּ֤ר spake dābar מֹשֶׁה֙ Moses mōše אֶל unto ʾēl בְּנֵ֣י the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl בְּצֵאתָ֖ם after they came forth yāṣāʾ מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃ out of Egypt, miṣrayim
  46. בְּעֵ֨בֶר On this side ʿēber הַיַּרְדֵּ֜ן Jordan, yardēn בַּגַּ֗יְא in the valley gayʾ מ֚וּל over against mûl בֵּ֣ית פְּע֔וֹר Beth-peor, bêt pĕʿôr בְּאֶ֗רֶץ in the land ʾereṣ סִיחֹן֙ of Sihon sîḥôn מֶ֣לֶךְ king melek הָֽאֱמֹרִ֔י of the Amorites, ʾĕmōrî אֲשֶׁ֥ר who ʾăšer יוֹשֵׁ֖ב dwelt yāšab בְּחֶשְׁבּ֑וֹן at Heshbon, ḥešbôn אֲשֶׁ֨ר whom ʾăšer הִכָּ֤ה smote, nākâ מֹשֶׁה֙ Moses mōše וּבְנֵ֣י and the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl בְּצֵאתָ֖ם after they were come forth yāṣāʾ מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃ out of Egypt: miṣrayim
  47. וַיִּֽירְשׁ֨וּ And they possessed yāraš אֶת ʾēt אַרְצ֜וֹ his land, ʾereṣ וְאֶת ʾēt אֶ֣רֶץ׀ and the land ʾereṣ ע֣וֹג of Og ʿôg מֶֽלֶךְ king melek הַבָּשָׁ֗ן of Bashan, bāšān שְׁנֵי֙ two šĕnayim מַלְכֵ֣י kings melek הָֽאֱמֹרִ֔י of the Amorites, ʾĕmōrî אֲשֶׁ֖ר which ʾăšer בְּעֵ֣בֶר on this side ʿēber הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן Jordan yardēn מִזְרַ֖ח toward the sunrising; mizrāḥ שָֽׁמֶשׁ׃ šemeš
  48. מֵֽעֲרֹעֵ֞ר From Aroer, ʿărôʿēr אֲשֶׁ֨ר which ʾăšer עַל by ʿal שְׂפַת the bank śāpâ נַ֧חַל of the river naḥal אַרְנֹ֛ן Arnon, ʾarnôn וְעַד even unto ʿad הַ֥ר mount har שִׂיאֹ֖ן Sion, śîʾōn ה֥וּא which hûʾ חֶרְמֽוֹן׃ Hermon, ḥermôn
  49. וְכָל And all kōl הָ֨עֲרָבָ֜ה the plain ʿărābâ עֵ֤בֶר on this side ʿēber הַיַּרְדֵּן֙ Jordan yardēn מִזְרָ֔חָה eastward, mizrāḥ וְעַ֖ד even unto ʿad יָ֣ם the sea yām הָֽעֲרָבָ֑ה of the plain, ʿărābâ תַּ֖חַת under taḥat אַשְׁדֹּ֥ת the springs ʾăšēdâ הַפִּסְגָּֽה׃ of Pisgah. pisgâ
