  1. לֹֽא Thou shalt not lōʾ תִזְבַּח֩ sacrifice zābaḥ לַֽיהוָ֨ה unto the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm שׁ֣וֹר bullock, šôr וָשֶׂ֗ה or sheep, śe אֲשֶׁ֨ר wherein ʾăšer יִֽהְיֶ֥ה is hāyâ בוֹ֙ מ֔וּם blemish, mʾûm כֹּ֖ל any kōl דָּבָ֣ר dābār רָ֑ע evilfavouredness: raʿ כִּ֧י for תֽוֹעֲבַ֛ת an abomination tôʿēba יְהוָ֥ה unto the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ thy God. ʾĕlōhîm הֽוּא׃ that hûʾ
  2. כִּֽי If יִמָּצֵ֤א there be found māṣāʾ בְקִרְבְּךָ֙ among qereb בְּאַחַ֣ד you, within any ʾeḥād שְׁעָרֶ֔יךָ of thy gates šaʿar אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm נֹתֵ֣ן giveth nātan לָ֑ךְ אִ֣ישׁ thee, man ʾîš אֽוֹ or ʾô אִשָּׁ֗ה woman, ʾiššâ אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ʾăšer יַֽעֲשֶׂ֧ה hath wrought ʿāśâ אֶת ʾēt הָרַ֛ע wickedness raʿ בְּעֵינֵ֥י in the sight ʿayin יְהוָֽה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ thy God, ʾĕlōhîm לַֽעֲבֹ֥ר in transgressing ʿābar בְּרִיתֽוֹ׃ his covenant, bĕrît
  3. וַיֵּ֗לֶךְ And hath gone hālak וַֽיַּעֲבֹד֙ and served ʿābad אֱלֹהִ֣ים gods, ʾĕlōhîm אֲחֵרִ֔ים other ʾaḥēr וַיִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ and worshipped šāḥâ לָהֶ֑ם וְלַשֶּׁ֣מֶשׁ׀ them, either the sun, šemeš א֣וֹ or ʾô לַיָּרֵ֗חַ moon, yārēaḥ א֛וֹ or ʾô לְכָל any kōl צְבָ֥א of the host ṣābāʾ הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם of heaven, šāmayim אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer לֹֽא I have not lōʾ צִוִּֽיתִי׃ commanded; ṣāwâ
  4. וְהֻֽגַּד And it be told nāgad לְךָ֖ וְשָׁמָ֑עְתָּ thee, and thou hast heard šāmaʿ וְדָֽרַשְׁתָּ֣ and inquired dāraš הֵיטֵ֔ב diligently, yāṭab וְהִנֵּ֤ה and, behold, hinnē אֱמֶת֙ true, ʾemet נָכ֣וֹן certain, kûn הַדָּבָ֔ר the thing dābār נֶֽעֶשְׂתָ֛ה is wrought ʿāśâ הַתּֽוֹעֵבָ֥ה abomination tôʿēba הַזֹּ֖את such zōt בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ in Israel: yiśrāʾēl
  5. וְהֽוֹצֵאתָ֣ Then shalt thou bring forth yāṣāʾ אֶת ʾēt הָאִ֣ישׁ man ʾîš הַה֡וּא that hûʾ אוֹ֩ or ʾô אֶת ʾēt הָֽאִשָּׁ֨ה woman, ʾiššâ הַהִ֜וא that hûʾ אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer עָ֠שׂוּ have committed ʿāśâ אֶת ʾēt הַדָּבָ֨ר thing, dābār הָרָ֤ע wicked raʿ הַזֶּה֙ that ze אֶל unto ʾēl שְׁעָרֶ֔יךָ thy gates, šaʿar אֶת ʾēt הָאִ֕ישׁ that man ʾîš א֖וֹ or ʾô אֶת ʾēt הָֽאִשָּׁ֑ה that woman, ʾiššâ וּסְקַלְתָּ֥ם and shalt stone sāqal בָּֽאֲבָנִ֖ים them with stones, ʾeben וָמֵֽתוּ׃ till they die. mût
  6. עַל At ʿal פִּ֣י׀ the mouth pe שְׁנַ֣יִם of two šĕnayim עֵדִ֗ים witnesses, ʿēd א֛וֹ or ʾô שְׁלֹשָׁ֥ה three šālôš עֵדִ֖ים witnesses, ʿēd יוּמַ֣ת shall he that is worthy of death mût הַמֵּ֑ת be put to death; mût לֹ֣א he shall not lōʾ יוּמַ֔ת be put to death. mût עַל at ʿal פִּ֖י the mouth pe עֵ֥ד witness ʿēd אֶחָֽד׃ of one ʾeḥād
  7. יַ֣ד The hands yād הָֽעֵדִ֞ים of the witnesses ʿēd תִּֽהְיֶה shall be hāyâ בּ֤וֹ בָרִֽאשֹׁנָה֙ first riʾšôn לַֽהֲמִית֔וֹ upon him to put him to death, mût וְיַ֥ד the hands yād כָּל of all kōl הָעָ֖ם the people. ʿam בָּאַֽחֲרֹנָ֑ה and afterward ʾaḥărôn וּבִֽעַרְתָּ֥ So thou shalt put bāʿar הָרָ֖ע the evil raʿ מִקִּרְבֶּֽךָ׃ away from among you. qereb
  8. כִּ֣י If יִפָּלֵא֩ too hard pālāʾ מִמְּךָ֙ for min דָבָ֜ר there arise a matter dābār לַמִּשְׁפָּ֗ט thee in judgment, mišpāṭ בֵּֽין between bên דָּ֨ם׀ blood dām לְדָ֜ם and blood, dām בֵּֽין between bên דִּ֣ין plea dîn לְדִ֗ין and plea, dîn וּבֵ֥ין and between bên נֶ֙גַע֙ stroke negaʿ לָנֶ֔גַע and stroke, negaʿ דִּבְרֵ֥י matters dābār רִיבֹ֖ת of controversy rîb בִּשְׁעָרֶ֑יךָ within thy gates: šaʿar וְקַמְתָּ֣ then shalt thou arise, qûm וְעָלִ֔יתָ and get thee up ʿālâ אֶל into ʾēl הַמָּק֔וֹם the place māqôm אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer יִבְחַ֛ר shall choose; bāḥar יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm בּֽוֹ׃
  9. וּבָאתָ֗ And thou shalt come bôʾ אֶל unto ʾēl הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ the priests kōhēn הַלְוִיִּ֔ם the Levites, lēwiyyî וְאֶל and unto ʾēl הַשֹּׁפֵ֔ט the judge šāpaṭ אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer יִֽהְיֶ֖ה shall be hāyâ בַּיָּמִ֣ים days, yôm הָהֵ֑ם in those hēm וְדָֽרַשְׁתָּ֙ and inquire; dāraš וְהִגִּ֣ידֽוּ and they shall shew nāgad לְךָ֔ אֵ֖ת thee ʾēt דְּבַ֥ר the sentence dābār הַמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃ of judgment: mišpāṭ
  10. וְעָשִׂ֗יתָ And thou shalt do ʿāśâ עַל according to ʿal פִּ֤י the sentence, pe הַדָּבָר֙ dābār אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer יַגִּ֣ידֽוּ shall shew nāgad לְךָ֔ מִן they of min הַמָּק֣וֹם place māqôm הַה֔וּא that hûʾ אֲשֶׁ֖ר which ʾăšer יִבְחַ֣ר shall choose bāḥar יְהוָ֑ה the Lord yĕhōwâ וְשָֽׁמַרְתָּ֣ thee; and thou shalt observe šāmar לַֽעֲשׂ֔וֹת to do ʿāśâ כְּכֹ֖ל according to all kōl אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer יוֹרֽוּךָ׃ they inform thee: yārâ
  11. עַל According to ʿal פִּ֨י the sentence pe הַתּוֹרָ֜ה of the law tôrâ אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer יוֹר֗וּךָ they shall teach yārâ וְעַל thee, and according to ʿal הַמִּשְׁפָּ֛ט the judgment mišpāṭ אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer יֹֽאמְר֥וּ they shall tell ʾāmar לְךָ֖ תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֑ה thee, thou shalt do: ʿāśâ לֹ֣א thou shalt not lōʾ תָס֗וּר decline sûr מִן from min הַדָּבָ֛ר the sentence dābār אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer יַגִּ֥ידֽוּ they shall shew nāgad לְךָ֖ יָמִ֥ין thee, the right hand, yāmîn וּשְׂמֹֽאל׃ nor the left. śĕmōwl
  12. וְהָאִ֞ישׁ And the man ʾîš אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer יַֽעֲשֶׂ֣ה will do ʿāśâ בְזָד֗וֹן presumptuously, zādôn לְבִלְתִּ֨י and will not biltî שְׁמֹ֤עַ hearken šāmaʿ אֶל unto ʾēl הַכֹּהֵן֙ the priest kōhēn הָֽעֹמֵ֞ד that standeth ʿāmad לְשָׁ֤רֶת to minister šārat שָׁם֙ there šām אֶת before ʾēt יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ thy God, ʾĕlōhîm א֖וֹ or ʾô אֶל unto ʾēl הַשֹּׁפֵ֑ט the judge, šāpaṭ וּמֵת֙ shall die: mût הָאִ֣ישׁ man ʾîš הַה֔וּא even that hûʾ וּבִֽעַרְתָּ֥ and thou shalt put away bāʿar הָרָ֖ע the evil raʿ מִיִּשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ from Israel. yiśrāʾēl
  13. וְכָל And all kōl הָעָ֖ם the people ʿam יִשְׁמְע֣וּ shall hear, šāmaʿ וְיִרָ֑אוּ and fear, yārēʾ וְלֹ֥א and do no lōʾ יְזִיד֖וּן presumptuously. zûd עֽוֹד׃ more ʿôd
  14. כִּֽי When תָבֹ֣א thou art come bôʾ אֶל unto ʾēl הָאָ֗רֶץ the land ʾereṣ אֲשֶׁ֨ר which ʾăšer יְהוָ֤ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙ thy God ʾĕlōhîm נֹתֵ֣ן giveth nātan לָ֔ךְ וִֽירִשְׁתָּ֖הּ thee, and shalt possess yāraš וְיָשַׁ֣בְתָּה it, and shalt dwell yāšab בָּ֑הּ וְאָֽמַרְתָּ֗ therein, and shalt say, ʾāmar אָשִׂ֤ימָה I will set śûm עָלַי֙ over ʿal מֶ֔לֶךְ a king melek כְּכָל me, like as all kōl הַגּוֹיִ֖ם the nations gôy אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer סְבִֽיבֹתָֽי׃ about me; sābîb
  15. שׂ֣וֹם Thou shalt in any wise śûm תָּשִׂ֤ים set śûm עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ over ʿal מֶ֔לֶךְ king melek אֲשֶׁ֥ר thee, whom ʾăšer יִבְחַ֛ר shall choose: bāḥar יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm בּ֑וֹ מִקֶּ֣רֶב from among qereb אַחֶ֗יךָ thy brethren ʾāḥ תָּשִׂ֤ים shalt thou set śûm עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ over ʿal מֶ֔לֶךְ king melek לֹ֣א not lōʾ תוּכַ֗ל thee: thou mayest yākōl לָתֵ֤ת set nātan עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ over ʿal אִ֣ישׁ ʾîš נָכְרִ֔י a stranger nokrî אֲשֶׁ֥ר thee, which ʾăšer לֹֽא not lōʾ אָחִ֖יךָ thy brother. ʾāḥ הֽוּא׃ hûʾ
  16. רַק֮ But raq לֹֽא he shall not lōʾ יַרְבֶּה multiply rābâ לּ֣וֹ סוּסִים֒ horses sûs וְלֹֽא to himself, nor lōʾ יָשִׁ֤יב to return šûb אֶת cause ʾēt הָעָם֙ the people ʿam מִצְרַ֔יְמָה to Egypt, miṣrayim לְמַ֖עַן to the end that maʿan הַרְבּ֣וֹת he should multiply rābâ ס֑וּס horses: sûs וַֽיהוָה֙ forasmuch as the Lord yĕhōwâ אָמַ֣ר hath said ʾāmar לָכֶ֔ם לֹ֣א no lōʾ תֹֽסִפ֗וּן unto you, Ye shall henceforth yāsap לָשׁ֛וּב return šûb בַּדֶּ֥רֶךְ way. derek הַזֶּ֖ה that ze עֽוֹד׃ more ʿôd
  17. וְלֹ֤א Neither lōʾ יַרְבֶּה shall he multiply rābâ לּוֹ֙ נָשִׁ֔ים wives ʾiššâ וְלֹ֥א lōʾ יָס֖וּר turn not away: sûr לְבָב֑וֹ to himself, that his heart lēbāb וְכֶ֣סֶף to himself silver kesep וְזָהָ֔ב and gold. zāhāb לֹ֥א neither lōʾ יַרְבֶּה multiply rābâ לּ֖וֹ מְאֹֽד׃ shall he greatly mĕʾōd
  18. וְהָיָ֣ה And it shall be, hāyâ כְשִׁבְתּ֔וֹ when he sitteth yāšab עַ֖ל upon ʿal כִּסֵּ֣א the throne kissēʾ מַמְלַכְתּ֑וֹ of his kingdom, mamlākâ וְכָ֨תַב that he shall write kātab ל֜וֹ אֶת him ʾēt מִשְׁנֵ֨ה a copy mišne הַתּוֹרָ֤ה law tôrâ הַזֹּאת֙ of this zōt עַל in ʿal סֵ֔פֶר a book sēper מִלִּפְנֵ֥י out of before pānîm הַכֹּֽהֲנִ֥ים the priests kōhēn הַלְוִיִּֽם׃ the Levites: lēwiyyî
  19. וְהָֽיְתָ֣ה And it shall be hāyâ עִמּ֔וֹ with ʿim וְקָ֥רָא him, and he shall read qārāʾ ב֖וֹ כָּל therein all kōl יְמֵ֣י the days yôm חַיָּ֑יו of his life: ḥay לְמַ֣עַן that maʿan יִלְמַ֗ד he may learn lāmad לְיִרְאָה֙ to fear yārēʾ אֶת ʾēt יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהָ֔יו his God, ʾĕlōhîm לִ֠שְׁמֹר to keep šāmar אֶֽת ʾēt כָּל all kōl דִּבְרֵ֞י the words dābār הַתּוֹרָ֥ה law tôrâ הַזֹּ֛את of this zōt וְאֶת ʾēt הַֽחֻקִּ֥ים statutes, ḥōq הָאֵ֖לֶּה and these ʾēlle לַֽעֲשֹׂתָֽם׃ to do them: ʿāśâ
  20. לְבִלְתִּ֤י be not biltî רוּם lifted up rûm לְבָבוֹ֙ That his heart lēbāb מֵֽאֶחָ֔יו above his brethren, ʾāḥ וּלְבִלְתִּ֛י biltî ס֥וּר and that he turn not aside sûr מִן from min הַמִּצְוָ֖ה the commandment, miṣwâ יָמִ֣ין the right hand, yāmîn וּשְׂמֹ֑אול or the left: śĕmōwl לְמַעַן֩ to the end that maʿan יַֽאֲרִ֨יךְ he may prolong ʾārak יָמִ֧ים days yôm עַל in ʿal מַמְלַכְתּ֛וֹ his kingdom, mamlākâ ה֥וּא he, hûʾ וּבָנָ֖יו and his children, bēn בְּקֶ֥רֶב in the midst qereb יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel. yiśrāʾēl
