בָּנִ֣ים the children bēn אַתֶּ֔ם Ye ʾattâ לַֽיהוָ֖ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֑ם your God: ʾĕlōhîm לֹ֣א ye shall not lōʾ תִתְגֹּֽדְד֗וּ cut yourselves, gādad וְלֹֽא nor lōʾ תָשִׂ֧ימוּ make śûm קָרְחָ֛ה any baldness qorḥâ בֵּ֥ין between bên עֵֽינֵיכֶ֖ם your eyes ʿayin לָמֵֽת׃ for the dead. mût

כִּ֣י For kî עַ֤ם people ʿam קָדוֹשׁ֙ an holy qādôš אַתָּ֔ה thou ʾattâ לַֽיהוָ֖ה unto the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ thy God, ʾĕlōhîm וּבְךָ֞ בָּחַ֣ר hath chosen bāḥar יְהוָ֗ה and the Lord yĕhōwâ לִֽהְי֥וֹת thee to be hāyâ לוֹ֙ לְעַ֣ם people ʿam סְגֻלָּ֔ה a peculiar sĕgullâ מִכֹּל֙ unto himself, above all kōl הָֽעַמִּ֔ים the nations ʿam אֲשֶׁ֖ר that ʾăšer עַל ʿal פְּנֵ֥י upon pānîm הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃ the earth. ʾădāmâ

לֹ֥א Thou shalt not lōʾ תֹאכַ֖ל eat ʾākal כָּל any kōl תּֽוֹעֵבָֽה׃ abominable thing. tôʿēba

זֹ֥את These zōt הַבְּהֵמָ֖ה the beasts bĕhēmâ אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer תֹּאכֵ֑לוּ ye shall eat: ʾākal שׁ֕וֹר the ox, šôr שֵׂ֥ה the sheep, śe כְשָׂבִ֖ים keśeb וְשֵׂ֥ה śe עִזִּֽים׃ and the goat, ʿēz

אַיָּ֥ל The hart, ʾayyāl וּצְבִ֖י and the roebuck, ṣĕbî וְיַחְמ֑וּר and the fallow deer, yaḥmûr וְאַקּ֥וֹ and the wild goat, ʾaqqô וְדִישֹׁ֖ן and the pygarg, dîšōn וּתְא֥וֹ and the wild ox, tĕʾô וָזָֽמֶר׃ and the chamois. zemer

וְכָל And every kōl בְּהֵמָ֞ה beast bĕhēmâ מַפְרֶ֣סֶת that parteth pāras פַּרְסָ֗ה the hoof, parsâ וְשֹׁסַ֤עַת the cleft šāsaʿ שֶׁ֙סַע֙ and cleaveth šesaʿ שְׁתֵּ֣י into two šĕnayim פְרָס֔וֹת claws, parsâ מַֽעֲלַ֥ת cheweth ʿālâ גֵּרָ֖ה the cud gērâ בַּבְּהֵמָ֑ה among the beasts, bĕhēmâ אֹתָ֖הּ ʾēt תֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃ that ye shall eat. ʾākal

אַ֣ךְ Nevertheless ʾak אֶת ʾēt זֶ֞ה these ze לֹ֤א ye shall not lōʾ תֹֽאכְלוּ֙ eat ʾākal מִמַּֽעֲלֵ֣י of them that chew ʿālâ הַגֵּרָ֔ה the cud, gērâ וּמִמַּפְרִיסֵ֥י or of them that divide pāras הַפַּרְסָ֖ה hoof; parsâ הַשְּׁסוּעָ֑ה the cloven šāsaʿ אֶֽת ʾēt הַ֠גָּמָל the camel, gāmāl וְאֶת ʾēt הָֽאַרְנֶ֨בֶת and the hare, ʾarnebet וְאֶת ʾēt הַשָּׁפָ֜ן and the coney: šāpān כִּֽי for kî מַעֲלֵ֧ה chew ʿālâ גֵרָ֣ה the cud, gērâ הֵ֗מָּה they hēm וּפַרְסָה֙ the hoof; parsâ לֹ֣א not lōʾ הִפְרִ֔יסוּ but divide pāras טְמֵאִ֥ים unclean unto you. ṭāmēʾ הֵ֖ם they hēm לָכֶֽם׃

וְאֶת ʾēt הַֽ֠חֲזִיר And the swine, ḥăzîr כִּֽי because kî מַפְרִ֨יס divideth pāras פַּרְסָ֥ה the hoof, parsâ הוּא֙ it hûʾ וְלֹ֣א yet cheweth not lōʾ גֵרָ֔ה the cud, gērâ טָמֵ֥א unclean ṭāmēʾ ה֖וּא it hûʾ לָכֶ֑ם מִבְּשָׂרָם֙ of their flesh, bāśār לֹ֣א unto you: ye shall not lōʾ תֹאכֵ֔לוּ eat ʾākal וּבְנִבְלָתָ֖ם their dead carcase. nĕbēlâ לֹ֥א nor lōʾ תִגָּֽעוּ׃ touch nāgaʿ

אֶת ʾēt זֶה֙ These ze תֹּֽאכְל֔וּ ye shall eat ʾākal מִכֹּ֖ל of all kōl אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer בַּמָּ֑יִם in the waters: mayim כֹּ֧ל all kōl אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer ל֛וֹ סְנַפִּ֥יר have fins sĕnappîr וְקַשְׂקֶ֖שֶׂת and scales qaśqeśet תֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃ shall ye eat: ʾākal

וְכֹ֨ל And whatsoever kōl אֲשֶׁ֧ר ʾăšer אֵֽין hath not ʾayin ל֛וֹ סְנַפִּ֥יר fins sĕnappîr וְקַשְׂקֶ֖שֶׂת and scales qaśqeśet לֹ֣א ye may not lōʾ תֹאכֵ֑לוּ eat; ʾākal טָמֵ֥א unclean unto you. ṭāmēʾ ה֖וּא it hûʾ לָכֶֽם׃

כָּל all kōl צִפּ֥וֹר birds ṣippôr טְהֹרָ֖ה clean ṭāhôr תֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃ ye shall eat. ʾākal

וְזֶ֕ה But these ze אֲשֶׁ֥ר of which ʾăšer לֹֽא ye shall not lōʾ תֹאכְל֖וּ eat: ʾākal מֵהֶ֑ם hēm הַנֶּ֥שֶׁר the eagle, nešer וְהַפֶּ֖רֶס and the ossifrage, peres וְהָֽעָזְנִיָּֽה׃ and the ospray, ʿozniyyâ

וְהָֽרָאָה֙ And the glede, rāʾâ וְאֶת ʾēt הָ֣אַיָּ֔ה and the kite, ʾayyâ וְהַדַּיָּ֖ה and the vulture dayyâ לְמִינָֽהּ׃ after his kind, mîn

וְאֵ֥ת ʾēt כָּל And every kōl עֹרֵ֖ב raven ʿōrēb לְמִינֽוֹ׃ after his kind, mîn

וְאֵת֙ ʾēt בַּ֣ת And the owl, bat הַֽיַּעֲנָ֔ה yaʿănâ וְאֶת ʾēt הַתַּחְמָ֖ס and the night hawk, taḥmās וְאֶת ʾēt הַשָּׁ֑חַף and the cuckow, šaḥap וְאֶת ʾēt הַנֵּ֖ץ and the hawk nēṣ לְמִינֵֽהוּ׃ after his kind, mîn

אֶת ʾēt הַכּ֥וֹס The little owl, kôs וְאֶת ʾēt הַיַּנְשׁ֖וּף and the great owl, yanšûp וְהַתִּנְשָֽׁמֶת׃ and the swan, tanšemet

וְהַקָּאָ֥ת And the pelican, qāʾat וְאֶֽת ʾēt הָרָחָ֖מָה and the gier eagle, rāḥām וְאֶת ʾēt הַשָּׁלָֽךְ׃ and the cormorant, šālok

וְהַ֣חֲסִידָ֔ה And the stork, ḥăsîdâ וְהָֽאֲנָפָ֖ה and the heron ʾănāpâ לְמִינָ֑הּ after her kind, mîn וְהַדּֽוּכִיפַ֖ת and the lapwing, dûkîpat וְהָֽעֲטַלֵּֽף׃ and the bat. ʿăṭallēp

וְכֹל֙ And every kōl שֶׁ֣רֶץ creeping thing šereṣ הָע֔וֹף that flieth ʿôp טָמֵ֥א unclean ṭāmēʾ ה֖וּא hûʾ לָכֶ֑ם לֹ֖א unto you: they shall not lōʾ יֵֽאָכֵֽלוּ׃ be eaten. ʾākal

כָּל all kōl ע֥וֹף fowls ʿôp טָה֖וֹר clean ṭāhôr תֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃ ye may eat. ʾākal

לֹ֣א Ye shall not lōʾ תֹֽאכְל֣וּ eat ʾākal כָל any kōl נְ֠בֵלָה thing that dieth of itself: nĕbēlâ לַגֵּ֨ר it unto the stranger gēr אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer בִּשְׁעָרֶ֜יךָ in thy gates, šaʿar תִּתְּנֶ֣נָּה thou shalt give nātan וַֽאֲכָלָ֗הּ that he may eat ʾākal א֤וֹ it; or ʾô מָכֹר֙ thou mayest sell mākar לְנָכְרִ֔י it unto an alien: nokrî כִּ֣י for kî עַ֤ם people ʿam קָדוֹשׁ֙ an holy qādôš אַתָּ֔ה thou ʾattâ לַֽיהוָ֖ה unto the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ thy God. ʾĕlōhîm לֹֽא Thou shalt not lōʾ תְבַשֵּׁ֥ל seethe bāšal גְּדִ֖י a kid gĕdî בַּֽחֲלֵ֥ב milk. ḥālāb אִמּֽוֹ׃ in his mother's ʾēm

עַשֵּׂ֣ר Thou shalt truly ʿāśar תְּעַשֵּׂ֔ר tithe ʿāśar אֵ֖ת ʾēt כָּל all kōl תְּבוּאַ֣ת the increase tĕbûʾâ זַרְעֶ֑ךָ of thy seed, zeraʿ הַיֹּצֵ֥א bringeth forth yāṣāʾ הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה that the field śāde שָׁנָ֥ה year šāne שָׁנָֽה׃ by year. šāne

וְאָֽכַלְתָּ֞ And thou shalt eat ʾākal לִפְנֵ֣י׀ before pānîm יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ thy God, ʾĕlōhîm בַּמָּק֣וֹם in the place māqôm אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer יִבְחַר֮ he shall choose bāḥar לְשַׁכֵּ֣ן to place šākan שְׁמ֣וֹ his name šēm שָׁם֒ there, šām מַעְשַׂ֤ר the tithe maʿăśēr דְּגָֽנְךָ֙ of thy corn, dāgān תִּֽירֹשְׁךָ֣ of thy wine, tîrôš וְיִצְהָרֶ֔ךָ and of thine oil, yiṣhār וּבְכֹרֹ֥ת and the firstlings bĕkôrâ בְּקָֽרְךָ֖ of thy herds bāqār וְצֹאנֶ֑ךָ and of thy flocks; ṣōn לְמַ֣עַן that maʿan תִּלְמַ֗ד thou mayest learn lāmad לְיִרְאָ֛ה to fear yārēʾ אֶת ʾēt יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm כָּל kōl הַיָּמִֽים׃ always. yôm

וְכִֽי And if kî יִרְבֶּ֨ה be too long rābâ מִמְּךָ֜ for min הַדֶּ֗רֶךְ the way derek כִּ֣י thee, so that kî לֹ֣א lōʾ תוּכַל֮ thou art not able yākōl שְׂאֵתוֹ֒ to carry nāśāʾ כִּֽי it; if kî יִרְחַ֤ק be too far rāḥaq מִמְּךָ֙ from min הַמָּק֔וֹם the place māqôm אֲשֶׁ֤ר thee, which ʾăšer יִבְחַר֙ shall choose bāḥar יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm לָשׂ֥וּם to set śûm שְׁמ֖וֹ his name šēm שָׁ֑ם there, šām כִּ֥י when kî יְבָֽרֶכְךָ֖ hath blessed thee: bārak יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃ thy God ʾĕlōhîm

וְנָֽתַתָּ֖ה Then shalt thou turn nātan בַּכָּ֑סֶף into money, kesep וְצַרְתָּ֤ and bind up ṣûr הַכֶּ֙סֶף֙ the money kesep בְּיָ֣דְךָ֔ in thine hand, yād וְהָֽלַכְתָּ֙ and shalt go hālak אֶל unto ʾēl הַמָּק֔וֹם the place māqôm אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer יִבְחַ֛ר shall choose: bāḥar יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm בּֽוֹ׃

וְנָֽתַתָּ֣ה And thou shalt bestow nātan הַכֶּ֡סֶף that money kesep בְּכֹל֩ for whatsoever kōl אֲשֶׁר ʾăšer תְּאַוֶּ֨ה lusteth after, ʾāwâ נַפְשְׁךָ֜ thy soul nepeš בַּבָּקָ֣ר for oxen, bāqār וּבַצֹּ֗אן or for sheep, ṣōn וּבַיַּ֙יִן֙ or for wine, yayin וּבַשֵּׁכָ֔ר or for strong drink, šēkār וּבְכֹ֛ל or for whatsoever kōl אֲשֶׁ֥ר ʾăšer תִּֽשְׁאָלְךָ֖ desireth: šāʾal נַפְשֶׁ֑ךָ thy soul nepeš וְאָכַ֣לְתָּ and thou shalt eat ʾākal שָּׁ֗ם there šām לִפְנֵי֙ before pānîm יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ thy God, ʾĕlōhîm וְשָֽׂמַחְתָּ֖ and thou shalt rejoice, śāmaḥ אַתָּ֥ה thou, ʾattâ וּבֵיתֶֽךָ׃ and thine household, bayit

וְהַלֵּוִ֥י And the Levite lēwiyyî אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer בִּשְׁעָרֶ֖יךָ within thy gates; šaʿar לֹ֣א thou shalt not lōʾ תַֽעַזְבֶ֑נּוּ forsake ʿāzab כִּ֣י him; for kî אֵ֥ין he hath no ʾayin ל֛וֹ חֵ֥לֶק part ḥēleq וְנַֽחֲלָ֖ה nor inheritance naḥălâ עִמָּֽךְ׃ with thee. ʿim

מִקְצֵ֣ה׀ At the end qāṣe שָׁלֹ֣שׁ of three šālôš שָׁנִ֗ים years šāne תּוֹצִיא֙ thou shalt bring forth yāṣāʾ אֶת ʾēt כָּל all kōl מַעְשַׂר֙ the tithe maʿăśēr תְּבוּאָ֣תְךָ֔ of thine increase tĕbûʾâ בַּשָּׁנָ֖ה year, šāne הַהִ֑וא the same hûʾ וְהִנַּחְתָּ֖ and shalt lay up yānaḥ בִּשְׁעָרֶֽיךָ׃ within thy gates: šaʿar

וּבָ֣א shall come, bôʾ הַלֵּוִ֡י And the Levite, lēwiyyî כִּ֣י (because kî אֵֽין he hath no ʾayin לוֹ֩ חֵ֨לֶק part ḥēleq וְנַֽחֲלָ֜ה nor inheritance naḥălâ עִמָּ֗ךְ with ʿim וְ֠הַגֵּר thee,) and the stranger, gēr וְהַיָּת֤וֹם and the fatherless, yātôm וְהָֽאַלְמָנָה֙ and the widow, ʾalmānâ אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer בִּשְׁעָרֶ֔יךָ within thy gates, šaʿar וְאָֽכְל֖וּ and shall eat ʾākal וְשָׂבֵ֑עוּ and be satisfied; śābaʿ לְמַ֤עַן that maʿan יְבָֽרֶכְךָ֙ may bless bārak יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm בְּכָל thee in all kōl מַֽעֲשֵׂ֥ה the work maʿăśe יָֽדְךָ֖ of thine hand yād אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer תַּֽעֲשֶֽׂה׃ thou doest. ʿāśâ
