בָּעֵ֨ת time ʿēt הַהִ֜וא At that hûʾ אָמַ֧ר said ʾāmar יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵלַ֗י unto ʾēl פְּסָל me, Hew pāsal לְךָ֞ שְׁנֵֽי thee two šĕnayim לוּחֹ֤ת tables lûaḥ אֲבָנִים֙ of stone ʾeben כָּרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים like unto the first, riʾšôn וַֽעֲלֵ֥ה and come up ʿālâ אֵלַ֖י unto ʾēl הָהָ֑רָה me into the mount, har וְעָשִׂ֥יתָ and make ʿāśâ לְּךָ֖ אֲר֥וֹן thee an ark ʾārôn עֵֽץ׃ of wood. ʿēṣ

וְאֶכְתֹּב֙ And I will write kātab עַל on ʿal הַלֻּחֹ֔ת the tables lûaḥ אֶת ʾēt הַדְּבָרִ֔ים the words dābār אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer הָי֛וּ were hāyâ עַל in ʿal הַלֻּחֹ֥ת tables lûaḥ הָרִֽאשֹׁנִ֖ים the first riʾšôn אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer שִׁבַּ֑רְתָּ thou brakest, šābar וְשַׂמְתָּ֖ם and thou shalt put śûm בָּֽאָרֽוֹן׃ them in the ark. ʾārôn

וָאַ֤עַשׂ And I made ʿāśâ אֲרוֹן֙ an ark ʾārôn עֲצֵ֣י wood, ʿēṣ שִׁטִּ֔ים shittim šiṭṭâ וָֽאֶפְסֹ֛ל and hewed pāsal שְׁנֵֽי two šĕnayim לֻחֹ֥ת tables lûaḥ אֲבָנִ֖ים of stone ʾeben כָּרִֽאשֹׁנִ֑ים like unto the first, riʾšôn וָאַ֣עַל and went up ʿālâ הָהָ֔רָה into the mount, har וּשְׁנֵ֥י having the two šĕnayim הַלֻּחֹ֖ת tables lûaḥ בְּיָדִֽי׃ in mine hand. yād

וַיִּכְתֹּ֨ב And he wrote kātab עַֽל on ʿal הַלֻּחֹ֜ת the tables, lûaḥ כַּמִּכְתָּ֣ב writing, miktāb הָֽרִאשׁ֗וֹן according to the first riʾšôn אֵ֚ת ʾēt עֲשֶׂ֣רֶת the ten ʿeśer הַדְּבָרִ֔ים commandments, dābār אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer דִּבֶּר֩ spake dābar יְהוָ֨ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֲלֵיכֶ֥ם unto ʾēl בָּהָ֛ר you in the mount har מִתּ֥וֹךְ out of the midst tāwek הָאֵ֖שׁ of the fire ʾēš בְּי֣וֹם in the day yôm הַקָּהָ֑ל of the assembly: qāhāl וַיִּתְּנֵ֥ם gave nātan יְהוָ֖ה and the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵלָֽי׃ them unto me. ʾēl

וָאֵ֗פֶן And I turned myself pānâ וָֽאֵרֵד֙ and came down yārad מִן from min הָהָ֔ר the mount, har וָֽאָשִׂם֙ and put śûm אֶת ʾēt הַלֻּחֹ֔ת the tables lûaḥ בָּֽאָר֖וֹן in the ark ʾārôn אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer עָשִׂ֑יתִי I had made; ʿāśâ וַיִּ֣הְיוּ they be, hāyâ שָׁ֔ם and there šām כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר as ʾăšer צִוַּ֖נִי commanded me. ṣāwâ יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord yĕhōwâ

וּבְנֵ֣י And the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl נָֽסְע֛וּ took their journey nāsaʿ מִבְּאֵרֹ֥ת from Beeroth bĕʾērôt בְּנֵֽי of the children bēn יַעֲקָ֖ן of Jaakan bĕʾērōt bĕnê yaʿăqan מֽוֹסֵרָ֑ה to Mosera: môsērâ שָׁ֣ם there šām מֵ֤ת died, mût אַֽהֲרֹן֙ Aaron ʾahărôn וַיִּקָּבֵ֣ר he was buried; qābar שָׁ֔ם and there šām וַיְכַהֵ֛ן ministered in the priest's office kāhan אֶלְעָזָ֥ר and Eleazar ʾelʿāzār בְּנ֖וֹ his son bēn תַּחְתָּֽיו׃ in his stead. taḥat

מִשָּׁ֥ם From thence šām נָֽסְע֖וּ they journeyed nāsaʿ הַגֻּדְגֹּ֑דָה unto Gudgodah; gudgōdâ וּמִן and from min הַגֻּדְגֹּ֣דָה Gudgodah gudgōdâ יָטְבָ֔תָה to Jotbath, yoṭbātâ אֶ֖רֶץ a land ʾereṣ נַֽחֲלֵי of rivers naḥal מָֽיִם׃ of waters. mayim

בָּעֵ֣ת time ʿēt הַהִ֗וא At that hûʾ הִבְדִּ֤יל separated bādal יְהוָה֙ the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶת ʾēt שֵׁ֣בֶט the tribe šēbeṭ הַלֵּוִ֔י of Levi, lēwî לָשֵׂ֖את to bear nāśāʾ אֶת ʾēt אֲר֣וֹן the ark ʾārôn בְּרִית of the covenant bĕrît יְהוָ֑ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ לַֽעֲמֹד֩ to stand ʿāmad לִפְנֵ֨י before pānîm יְהוָ֤ה the Lord yĕhōwâ לְשָֽׁרְתוֹ֙ to minister šārat וּלְבָרֵ֣ךְ unto him, and to bless bārak בִּשְׁמ֔וֹ in his name, šēm עַ֖ד unto ʿad הַיּ֥וֹם day. yôm הַזֶּֽה׃ this ze

עַל Wherefore ʿal כֵּ֞ן kēn לֹֽא no lōʾ הָיָ֧ה hath hāyâ לְלֵוִ֛י Levi lēwî חֵ֥לֶק part ḥēleq וְנַֽחֲלָ֖ה nor inheritance naḥălâ עִם with ʿim אֶחָ֑יו his brethren; ʾāḥ יְהוָה֙ the Lord yĕhōwâ ה֣וּא hûʾ נַֽחֲלָת֔וֹ his inheritance, naḥălâ כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר according ʾăšer דִּבֶּ֛ר promised him. dābar יְהוָ֥ה as the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm לֽוֹ׃

וְאָֽנֹכִ֞י And I ʾānōkî עָמַ֣דְתִּי stayed ʿāmad בָהָ֗ר in the mount, har כַּיָּמִים֙ time, yôm הָרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים according to the first riʾšôn אַרְבָּעִ֣ים forty ʾarbāʿîm י֔וֹם days yôm וְאַרְבָּעִ֖ים and forty ʾarbāʿîm לָ֑יְלָה nights; layil וַיִּשְׁמַ֨ע hearkened šāmaʿ יְהוָ֜ה and the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵלַ֗י unto ʾēl גַּ֚ם also, gam בַּפַּ֣עַם time paʿam הַהִ֔וא me at that hûʾ לֹֽא not lōʾ אָבָ֥ה would ʾābâ יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ הַשְׁחִיתֶֽךָ׃ destroy thee. šāḥat

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said ʾāmar יְהוָה֙ And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵלַ֔י unto ʾēl ק֛וּם me, Arise, qûm לֵ֥ךְ take hālak לְמַסַּ֖ע journey massaʿ לִפְנֵ֣י before pānîm הָעָ֑ם the people, ʿam וְיָבֹ֙אוּ֙ that they may go in bôʾ וְיִֽירְשׁ֣וּ and possess yāraš אֶת ʾēt הָאָ֔רֶץ the land, ʾereṣ אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer נִשְׁבַּ֥עְתִּי I sware šābaʿ לַֽאֲבֹתָ֖ם unto their fathers ʾāb לָתֵ֥ת to give unto them. nātan לָהֶֽם׃

וְעַתָּה֙ And now, ʿattâ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel, yiśrāʾēl מָ֚ה what mâ יְהוָ֣ה doth the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm שֹׁאֵ֖ל require šāʾal מֵֽעִמָּ֑ךְ of ʿim כִּ֣י thee, but kî אִם ʾim לְ֠יִרְאָה to fear yārēʾ אֶת ʾēt יְהוָ֨ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ thy God, ʾĕlōhîm לָלֶ֤כֶת to walk hālak בְּכָל in all kōl דְּרָכָיו֙ his ways, derek וּלְאַֽהֲבָ֣ה and to love ʾāhab אֹת֔וֹ ʾēt וְלַֽעֲבֹד֙ him, and to serve ʿābad אֶת ʾēt יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm בְּכָל with all kōl לְבָֽבְךָ֖ thy heart lēbāb וּבְכָל and with all kōl נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃ thy soul, nepeš

לִשְׁמֹ֞ר To keep šāmar אֶת ʾēt מִצְוֹ֤ת the commandments miṣwâ יְהוָה֙ of the Lord, yĕhōwâ וְאֶת ʾēt חֻקֹּתָ֔יו and his statutes, ḥuqqâ אֲשֶׁ֛ר which ʾăšer אָֽנֹכִ֥י I ʾānōkî מְצַוְּךָ֖ command ṣāwâ הַיּ֑וֹם thee this day yôm לְט֖וֹב for thy good? ṭôb לָֽךְ׃

הֵ֚ן Behold, hēn לַֽיהוָ֣ה the Lord's yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ thy God, ʾĕlōhîm הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם the heaven šāmayim וּשְׁמֵ֣י and the heaven šāmayim הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם of heavens šāmayim הָאָ֖רֶץ the earth ʾereṣ וְכָל with all kōl אֲשֶׁר that therein ʾăšer בָּֽהּ׃

רַ֧ק Only raq בַּֽאֲבֹתֶ֛יךָ in thy fathers ʾāb חָשַׁ֥ק had a delight ḥāšaq יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ לְאַֽהֲבָ֣ה to love ʾāhab אוֹתָ֑ם ʾēt וַיִּבְחַ֞ר them, and he chose bāḥar בְּזַרְעָ֣ם their seed zeraʿ אַֽחֲרֵיהֶ֗ם after ʾaḥar בָּכֶ֛ם מִכָּל them, you above all kōl הָֽעַמִּ֖ים people, ʿam כַּיּ֥וֹם day. yôm הַזֶּֽה׃ as this ze

וּמַלְתֶּ֕ם Circumcise mûl אֵ֖ת therefore ʾēt עָרְלַ֣ת the foreskin ʿorlâ לְבַבְכֶ֑ם of your heart, lēbāb וְעָ֨רְפְּכֶ֔ם stiffnecked. ʿōrep לֹ֥א and be no lōʾ תַקְשׁ֖וּ qāšâ עֽוֹד׃ more ʿôd

כִּ֚י For kî יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם your God ʾĕlōhîm ה֚וּא hûʾ אֱלֹהֵ֣י God ʾĕlōhîm הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים of gods, ʾĕlōhîm וַֽאֲדֹנֵ֖י and Lord ʾādôn הָֽאֲדֹנִ֑ים of lords, ʾādôn הָאֵ֨ל God, ʾēl הַגָּדֹ֤ל a great gādôl הַגִּבֹּר֙ a mighty, gibbôr וְהַנּוֹרָ֔א and a terrible, yārēʾ אֲשֶׁר֙ which ʾăšer לֹֽא not lōʾ יִשָּׂ֣א regardeth nāśāʾ פָנִ֔ים persons, pānîm וְלֹ֥א nor lōʾ יִקַּ֖ח taketh lāqaḥ שֹֽׁחַד׃ reward: šaḥad

עֹשֶׂ֛ה He doth execute ʿāśâ מִשְׁפַּ֥ט the judgment mišpāṭ יָת֖וֹם of the fatherless yātôm וְאַלְמָנָ֑ה and widow, ʾalmānâ וְאֹהֵ֣ב and loveth ʾāhab גֵּ֔ר the stranger, gēr לָ֥תֶת in giving nātan ל֖וֹ לֶ֥חֶם him food leḥem וְשִׂמְלָֽה׃ and raiment. śimlâ

וַֽאֲהַבְתֶּ֖ם Love ʾāhab אֶת ye therefore ʾēt הַגֵּ֑ר the stranger: gēr כִּֽי for kî גֵרִ֥ים strangers gēr הֱיִיתֶ֖ם ye were hāyâ בְּאֶ֥רֶץ in the land ʾereṣ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ of Egypt. miṣrayim

אֶת ʾēt יְהוָ֧ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ thy God; ʾĕlōhîm תִּירָ֖א Thou shalt fear yārēʾ אֹת֣וֹ ʾēt תַֽעֲבֹ֑ד him shalt thou serve, ʿābad וּב֣וֹ תִדְבָּ֔ק and to him shalt thou cleave, dābaq וּבִשְׁמ֖וֹ by his name. šēm תִּשָּׁבֵֽעַ׃ and swear šābaʿ

ה֥וּא He hûʾ תְהִלָּֽתְךָ֖ thy praise, tĕhillâ וְה֣וּא and he hûʾ אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ thy God, ʾĕlōhîm אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer עָשָׂ֣ה hath done ʿāśâ אִתְּךָ֗ for ʾēt אֶת thee ʾēt הַגְּדֹלֹ֤ת great gādôl וְאֶת ʾēt הַנּֽוֹרָאֹת֙ and terrible things, yārēʾ הָאֵ֔לֶּה these ʾēlle אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer רָא֖וּ have seen. rāʾâ עֵינֶֽיךָ׃ thine eyes ʿayin

בְּשִׁבְעִ֣ים with threescore and ten šibʿîm נֶ֔פֶשׁ persons; nepeš יָֽרְד֥וּ went down yārad אֲבֹתֶ֖יךָ Thy fathers ʾāb מִצְרָ֑יְמָה into Egypt miṣrayim וְעַתָּ֗ה and now ʿattâ שָֽׂמְךָ֙ hath made śûm יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm כְּכֽוֹכְבֵ֥י thee as the stars kôkāb הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם of heaven šāmayim לָרֹֽב׃ for multitude. rōb
