தனύ கையிலிருகύகிற படύடயத்திறύகு அமாசா எச்சரிக்கையாயிராதபோது, யோவாப் அவனை அவன் குடல்கள் தரையிலே சரிந்துபோகத்தக்கதாய், அதினால் வயிற்றிலே ஒரே குத்தாக குத்தினான்; அவன் செத்துப்போனான்; அப்பொழுது யோவாபும் அவன் சகோதரனாகிய அபிசாயும் பிக்கிரியின் குமாரனாகிய சேபாவைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தார்கள்.

தன்னுடைய கையிலிருக்கிற பட்டயத்திற்கு அமாசா எச்சரிக்கையாக இல்லாமலிருந்தபோது, யோவாப் அவனை அவனுடைய குடல்கள் தரையிலே விழும்படி, அதினால் வயிற்றிலே ஒரே குத்தாக குத்தினான்; அவன் இறந்துபோனான்; அப்பொழுது யோவாபும் அவனுடைய சகோதரனான அபிசாயும் பிக்கிரியின் மகனான சேபாவைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தார்கள்.

யோவாபின் இடது கையிலிருந்த வாளை அமாசா கவனிக்கவில்லை. ஆனால் உடனே யோவாப் தன் வாளால் அமாசாவை வயிற்றில் குத்தினான். அமாசாவின் குடல் நிலத்தில் சரிந்தது. யோவாப் மீண்டும் அமாசாவைக் குத்த வேண்டியிருக்கவில்லை. அவன் மரித்துப் போயிருந்தான். பின்பு யோவாபும், அவனது சசோதரன் அபிசாயியும் பிக்கிரியின் மகனாகிய சேபாவைத் துரத்தத் தொடங்கினர்.
