וְ֠נַֽעֲמָן Now Naaman, naʿămān שַׂר captain śar צְבָ֨א of the host ṣābāʾ מֶֽלֶךְ of the king melek אֲרָ֜ם of Syria, ʾărām הָיָ֣ה was hāyâ אִישׁ֩ man ʾîš גָּד֨וֹל a great gādôl לִפְנֵ֤י with pānîm אֲדֹנָיו֙ his master, ʾādôn וּנְשֻׂ֣א and honourable, nāśāʾ פָנִ֔ים pānîm כִּי because kî ב֛וֹ נָֽתַן had given nātan יְהוָ֥ה by him the Lord yĕhōwâ תְּשׁוּעָ֖ה deliverance tĕšûʿâ לַֽאֲרָ֑ם unto Syria: ʾărām וְהָאִ֗ישׁ man ʾîš הָיָ֛ה he was hāyâ גִּבּ֥וֹר also a mighty gibbôr חַ֖יִל in valour, ḥayil מְצֹרָֽע׃ a leper. ṣāraʿ

וַֽאֲרָם֙ And the Syrians ʾărām יָֽצְא֣וּ had gone out yāṣāʾ גְדוּדִ֔ים by companies, gĕdûd וַיִּשְׁבּ֛וּ and had brought away captive šābâ מֵאֶ֥רֶץ out of the land ʾereṣ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl נַֽעֲרָ֣ה maid; naʿărâ קְטַנָּ֑ה a little qāṭān וַתְּהִ֕י and she waited hāyâ לִפְנֵ֖י on pānîm אֵ֥שֶׁת wife. ʾiššâ נַֽעֲמָֽן׃ Naaman's naʿămān

וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ And she said ʾāmar אֶל unto ʾēl גְּבִרְתָּ֔הּ her mistress, gĕberet אַֽחֲלֵ֣י Would God ʾaḥălay אֲדֹנִ֔י my lord ʾādôn לִפְנֵ֥י with pānîm הַנָּבִ֖יא the prophet nābîʾ אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer בְּשֹֽׁמְר֑וֹן in Samaria! šōmĕrôn אָ֛ז for ʾāz יֶֽאֱסֹ֥ף he would recover ʾāsap אֹת֖וֹ ʾēt מִצָּֽרַעְתּֽוֹ׃ him of his leprosy. ṣāraʿat

וַיָּבֹ֕א And went in, bôʾ וַיַּגֵּ֥ד and told nāgad לַֽאדֹנָ֖יו his lord, ʾādôn לֵאמֹ֑ר saying, ʾāmar כָּזֹ֤את Thus zōt וְכָזֹאת֙ and thus zōt דִּבְּרָ֣ה said dābar הַֽנַּעֲרָ֔ה the maid naʿărâ אֲשֶׁ֖ר that ʾăšer מֵאֶ֥רֶץ of the land ʾereṣ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel. yiśrāʾēl

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said, ʾāmar מֶֽלֶךְ And the king melek אֲרָם֙ of Syria ʾărām לֶךְ Go to, hālak בֹּ֔א go, bôʾ וְאֶשְׁלְחָ֥ה and I will send šālaḥ סֵ֖פֶר a letter sēper אֶל unto ʾēl מֶ֣לֶךְ the king melek יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel. yiśrāʾēl וַיֵּלֶךְ֩ And he departed, hālak וַיִּקַּ֨ח and took lāqaḥ בְּיָד֜וֹ with him yād עֶ֣שֶׂר ten ʿeśer כִּכְּרֵי talents kikkār כֶ֗סֶף of silver, kesep וְשֵׁ֤שֶׁת and six šēš אֲלָפִים֙ thousand ʾelep זָהָ֔ב of gold, zāhāb וְעֶ֖שֶׂר and ten ʿeśer חֲלִיפ֥וֹת changes ḥălîpâ בְּגָדִֽים׃ of raiment. beged

וַיָּבֵ֣א And he brought bôʾ הַסֵּ֔פֶר the letter sēper אֶל to ʾēl מֶ֥לֶךְ the king melek יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl לֵאמֹ֑ר saying, ʾāmar וְעַתָּ֗ה Now ʿattâ כְּב֨וֹא is come bôʾ הַסֵּ֤פֶר letter sēper הַזֶּה֙ when this ze אֵלֶ֔יךָ unto ʾēl הִנֵּ֨ה thee, behold, hinnē שָׁלַ֤חְתִּי I have sent šālaḥ אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ to ʾēl אֶת ʾēt נַֽעֲמָ֣ן Naaman naʿămān עַבְדִּ֔י my servant ʿebed וַֽאֲסַפְתּ֖וֹ thee, that thou mayest recover ʾāsap מִצָּֽרַעְתּֽוֹ׃ him of his leprosy. ṣāraʿat

וַיְהִ֡י And it came to pass, hāyâ כִּקְרֹא֩ had read qārāʾ מֶֽלֶךְ when the king melek יִשְׂרָאֵ֨ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl אֶת ʾēt הַסֵּ֜פֶר the letter, sēper וַיִּקְרַ֣ע that he rent qāraʿ בְּגָדָ֗יו his clothes, beged וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ and said, ʾāmar הַאֱלֹהִ֥ים God, ʾĕlōhîm אָ֙נִי֙ I ʾănî לְהָמִ֣ית to kill mût וּֽלְהַחֲי֔וֹת and to make alive, ḥāyâ כִּי that kî זֶה֙ this man ze שֹׁלֵ֣חַ doth send šālaḥ אֵלַ֔י unto ʾēl לֶֽאֱסֹ֥ף me to recover ʾāsap אִ֖ישׁ a man ʾîš מִצָּֽרַעְתּ֑וֹ of his leprosy? ṣāraʿat כִּ֤י kî אַךְ wherefore ʾak דְּעוּ consider, yādaʿ נָא֙ I pray you, nāʾ וּרְא֔וּ and see rāʾâ כִּֽי how kî מִתְאַנֶּ֥ה seeketh a quarrel against me. ʾānâ ה֖וּא he hûʾ לִֽי׃

וַיְהִ֞י And it was hāyâ כִּשְׁמֹ֣עַ׀ had heard šāmaʿ אֱלִישָׁ֣ע when Elisha ʾĕlîšāʿ אִישׁ the man ʾîš הָֽאֱלֹהִ֗ים of God ʾĕlōhîm כִּֽי that kî קָרַ֤ע had rent qāraʿ מֶֽלֶךְ the king melek יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel yiśrāʾēl אֶת ʾēt בְּגָדָ֔יו his clothes, beged וַיִּשְׁלַח֙ that he sent šālaḥ אֶל to ʾēl הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ the king, melek לֵאמֹ֔ר saying, ʾāmar לָ֥מָּה Wherefore mâ קָרַ֖עְתָּ hast thou rent qāraʿ בְּגָדֶ֑יךָ thy clothes? beged יָבֹֽא let him come bôʾ נָ֣א now nāʾ אֵלַ֔י to ʾēl וְיֵדַ֕ע me, and he shall know yādaʿ כִּ֛י that kî יֵ֥שׁ there is yēš נָבִ֖יא a prophet nābîʾ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ in Israel. yiśrāʾēl

וַיָּבֹ֥א came bôʾ נַֽעֲמָ֖ן So Naaman naʿămān בְּסוּסָ֣ו with his horses sûs וּבְרִכְבּ֑וֹ and with his chariot, rekeb וַיַּֽעֲמֹ֥ד and stood ʿāmad פֶּֽתַח at the door petaḥ הַבַּ֖יִת of the house bayit לֶֽאֱלִישָֽׁע׃ of Elisha. ʾĕlîšāʿ

וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח sent šālaḥ אֵלָ֛יו unto ʾēl אֱלִישָׁ֖ע And Elisha ʾĕlîšāʿ מַלְאָ֣ךְ a messenger mălʾok לֵאמֹ֑ר him, saying, ʾāmar הָל֗וֹךְ Go hālak וְרָֽחַצְתָּ֤ and wash rāḥaṣ שֶֽׁבַע seven šebaʿ פְּעָמִים֙ times, paʿam בַּיַּרְדֵּ֔ן in Jordan yardēn וְיָשֹׁ֧ב shall come again šûb בְּשָֽׂרְךָ֛ and thy flesh bāśār לְךָ֖ וּטְהָֽר׃ to thee, and thou shalt be clean. ṭāhēr

וַיִּקְצֹ֥ף was wroth, qāṣap נַֽעֲמָ֖ן But Naaman naʿămān וַיֵּלַ֑ךְ and went away, hālak וַיֹּאמֶר֩ and said, ʾāmar הִנֵּ֨ה Behold, hinnē אָמַ֜רְתִּי I thought, ʾāmar אֵלַ֣י׀ to ʾēl יֵצֵ֣א He will surely yāṣāʾ יָצ֗וֹא come out yāṣāʾ וְעָמַד֙ me, and stand, ʿāmad וְקָרָא֙ and call qārāʾ בְּשֵׁם on the name šēm יְהוָ֣ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהָ֔יו his God, ʾĕlōhîm וְהֵנִ֥יף and strike nûp יָד֛וֹ his hand yād אֶל over ʾēl הַמָּק֖וֹם the place, māqôm וְאָסַ֥ף and recover ʾāsap הַמְּצֹרָֽע׃ the leper. ṣāraʿ

הֲלֹ֡א not lōʾ טוֹב֩ better ṭôb אֲבָנָ֨ה Abana ʾăbānâ וּפַרְפַּ֜ר and Pharpar, parpar נַֽהֲר֣וֹת rivers nāhār דַּמֶּ֗שֶׂק of Damascus, dammeśeq מִכֹּל֙ than all kōl מֵימֵ֣י the waters mayim יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel? yiśrāʾēl הֲלֹֽא may I not lōʾ אֶרְחַ֥ץ wash rāḥaṣ בָּהֶ֖ם וְטָהָ֑רְתִּי in them, and be clean? ṭāhēr וַיִּ֖פֶן So he turned pānâ וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ and went away hālak בְּחֵמָֽה׃ in a rage. ḥēmâ

וַיִּגְּשׁ֣וּ came near, nāgaš עֲבָדָיו֮ And his servants ʿebed וַיְדַבְּר֣וּ and spake dābar אֵלָיו֒ unto ʾēl וַיֹּֽאמְר֗וּ him, and said, ʾāmar אָבִי֙ My father, ʾāb דָּבָ֣ר thing, dābār גָּד֗וֹל thee great gādôl הַנָּבִ֛יא the prophet nābîʾ דִּבֶּ֥ר had bid dābar אֵלֶ֖יךָ ʾēl הֲל֣וֹא wouldest thou not lōʾ תַֽעֲשֶׂ֑ה have done ʿāśâ וְאַ֛ף how much rather then, ʾap כִּֽי when kî אָמַ֥ר he saith ʾāmar אֵלֶ֖יךָ to ʾēl רְחַ֥ץ thee, Wash, rāḥaṣ וּטְהָֽר׃ and be clean? ṭāhēr

וַיֵּ֗רֶד Then went he down, yārad וַיִּטְבֹּ֤ל and dipped ṭābal בַּיַּרְדֵּן֙ in Jordan, yardēn שֶׁ֣בַע himself seven šebaʿ פְּעָמִ֔ים times paʿam כִּדְבַ֖ר according to the saying dābār אִ֣ישׁ of the man ʾîš הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים of God: ʾĕlōhîm וַיָּ֣שָׁב came again šûb בְּשָׂר֗וֹ and his flesh bāśār כִּבְשַׂ֛ר like unto the flesh bāśār נַ֥עַר child, naʿar קָטֹ֖ן of a little qāṭān וַיִּטְהָֽר׃ and he was clean. ṭāhēr

וַיָּשָׁב֩ And he returned šûb אֶל to ʾēl אִ֨ישׁ the man ʾîš הָֽאֱלֹהִ֜ים of God, ʾĕlōhîm ה֣וּא he hûʾ וְכָֽל and all kōl מַחֲנֵ֗הוּ his company, maḥăne וַיָּבֹא֮ and came, bôʾ וַיַּֽעֲמֹ֣ד and stood ʿāmad לְפָנָיו֒ before pānîm וַיֹּ֗אמֶר him: and he said, ʾāmar הִנֵּה Behold, hinnē נָ֤א now nāʾ יָדַ֙עְתִּי֙ I know yādaʿ כִּ֣י that kî אֵ֤ין no ʾayin אֱלֹהִים֙ God ʾĕlōhîm בְּכָל in all kōl הָאָ֔רֶץ the earth, ʾereṣ כִּ֖י but kî אִם ʾim בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל in Israel: yiśrāʾēl וְעַתָּ֛ה now ʿattâ קַח take lāqaḥ נָ֥א therefore, I pray thee, nāʾ בְרָכָ֖ה a blessing bĕrākâ מֵאֵ֥ת of ʾēt עַבְדֶּֽךָ׃ thy servant. ʿebed

וַיֹּ֕אמֶר But he said, ʾāmar חַי liveth, ḥay יְהוָ֛ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֲשֶׁר whom ʾăšer עָמַ֥דְתִּי I stand, ʿāmad לְפָנָ֖יו before pānîm אִם ʾim אֶקָּ֑ח I will receive lāqaḥ וַיִּפְצַר none. And he urged pāṣar בּ֥וֹ לָקַ֖חַת him to take lāqaḥ וַיְמָאֵֽן׃ but he refused. māʾēn

וַיֹּאמֶר֮ said, ʾāmar נַֽעֲמָן֒ And Naaman naʿămān וָלֹ֕א Shall there not lōʾ יֻתַּן be given nātan נָ֣א then, I pray thee, nāʾ לְעַבְדְּךָ֔ to thy servant ʿebed מַשָּׂ֥א burden maśśāʾ צֶֽמֶד two ṣemed פְּרָדִ֖ים mules' pered אֲדָמָ֑ה of earth? ʾădāmâ כִּ֡י for kî לֽוֹא neither lōʾ יַעֲשֶׂה֩ offer ʿāśâ ע֨וֹד will henceforth ʿôd עַבְדְּךָ֜ thy servant ʿebed עֹלָ֤ה burnt offering ʿōlâ וָזֶ֙בַח֙ nor sacrifice zebaḥ לֵֽאלֹהִ֣ים gods, ʾĕlōhîm אֲחֵרִ֔ים unto other ʾaḥēr כִּ֖י but kî אִם ʾim לַֽיהוָֽה׃ unto the Lord. yĕhōwâ

לַדָּבָ֣ר thing dābār הַזֶּ֔ה In this ze יִסְלַ֥ח pardon sālaḥ יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ לְעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ thy servant, ʿebed בְּב֣וֹא goeth bôʾ אֲדֹנִ֣י when my master ʾādôn בֵית into the house bayit רִמּוֹן֩ of Rimmon rimmôn לְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹ֨ת to worship šāḥâ שָׁ֜מָּה there, šām וְה֣וּא׀ and he hûʾ נִשְׁעָ֣ן leaneth šāʿan עַל on ʿal יָדִ֗י my hand, yād וְהִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֵ֙יתִי֙ and I bow myself šāḥâ בֵּ֣ית in the house bayit רִמֹּ֔ן of Rimmon: rimmôn בְּהִשְׁתַּֽחֲוָיָ֙תִי֙ when I bow down myself šāḥâ בֵּ֣ית in the house bayit רִמֹּ֔ן of Rimmon, rimmôn יִסְלַח pardon sālaḥ נא nāʾ יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ לְעַבְדְּךָ֖ thy servant ʿebed בַּדָּבָ֥ר thing. dābār הַזֶּֽה׃ in this ze

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר And he said ʾāmar ל֖וֹ לֵ֣ךְ unto him, Go hālak לְשָׁל֑וֹם in peace. šālôm וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ So he departed hālak מֵֽאִתּ֖וֹ from ʾēt כִּבְרַת him a little kibrâ אָֽרֶץ׃ way. ʾereṣ

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said, ʾāmar גֵּֽיחֲזִ֗י But Gehazi, gêḥăzî נַעַר֮ the servant naʿar אֱלִישָׁ֣ע of Elisha ʾĕlîšāʿ אִישׁ the man ʾîš הָֽאֱלֹהִים֒ of God, ʾĕlōhîm הִנֵּ֣ה׀ Behold, hinnē חָשַׂ֣ךְ hath spared ḥāśak אֲדֹנִ֗י my master ʾādôn אֶֽת ʾēt נַעֲמָ֤ן Naaman naʿămān הָֽאֲרַמִּי֙ Syrian, ʾărammî הַזֶּ֔ה this ze מִקַּ֥חַת in not receiving lāqaḥ מִיָּד֖וֹ at his hands yād אֵ֣ת ʾēt אֲשֶׁר that which ʾăšer הֵבִ֑יא he brought: bôʾ חַי liveth, ḥay יְהוָה֙ the Lord yĕhōwâ כִּֽי but, kî אִם ʾim רַ֣צְתִּי I will run rûṣ אַֽחֲרָ֔יו after ʾaḥar וְלָֽקַחְתִּ֥י him, and take lāqaḥ מֵֽאִתּ֖וֹ of him. ʾēt מְאֽוּמָה׃ somewhat mĕʾûmâ

וַיִּרְדֹּ֥ף followed rādap גֵּֽיחֲזִ֖י So Gehazi gêḥăzî אַֽחֲרֵ֣י after ʾaḥar נַֽעֲמָ֑ן Naaman. naʿămān וַיִּרְאֶ֤ה saw rāʾâ נַֽעֲמָן֙ And when Naaman naʿămān רָ֣ץ running rûṣ אַֽחֲרָ֔יו after ʾaḥar וַיִּפֹּ֞ל him, he lighted down nāpal מֵעַ֧ל from ʿal הַמֶּרְכָּבָ֛ה the chariot merkābâ לִקְרָאת֖וֹ to meet qirʾâ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר him, and said, ʾāmar הֲשָׁלֽוֹם׃ all well? šālôm

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀ And he said, ʾāmar שָׁל֗וֹם All well. šālôm אֲדֹנִי֮ My master ʾādôn שְׁלָחַ֣נִי hath sent šālaḥ לֵאמֹר֒ me, saying, ʾāmar הִנֵּ֣ה Behold, hinnē עַתָּ֡ה even now ʿattâ זֶ֠ה ze בָּ֣אוּ there be come bôʾ אֵלַ֧י to ʾēl שְׁנֵֽי two šĕnayim נְעָרִ֛ים young men naʿar מֵהַ֥ר me from mount har אֶפְרַ֖יִם Ephraim ʾeprayim מִבְּנֵ֣י of the sons bēn הַנְּבִיאִ֑ים of the prophets: nābîʾ תְּנָה give nātan נָּ֤א them, I pray thee, nāʾ לָהֶם֙ כִּכַּר a talent kikkār כֶּ֔סֶף of silver, kesep וּשְׁתֵּ֖י and two šĕnayim חֲלִפ֥וֹת changes ḥălîpâ בְּגָדִֽים׃ of garments. beged

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said, ʾāmar נַֽעֲמָ֔ן And Naaman naʿămān הוֹאֵ֖ל Be content, yāʾal קַ֣ח take lāqaḥ כִּכָּרָ֑יִם two talents. kikkār וַיִּפְרָץ And he urged pāraṣ בּ֗וֹ וַיָּצַר֩ him, and bound ṣārar כִּכְּרַ֨יִם two talents kikkār כֶּ֜סֶף of silver kesep בִּשְׁנֵ֣י in two šĕnayim חֲרִטִ֗ים bags, ḥārîṭ וּשְׁתֵּי֙ with two šĕnayim חֲלִפ֣וֹת changes ḥălîpâ בְּגָדִ֔ים of garments, beged וַיִּתֵּן֙ and laid nātan אֶל upon ʾēl שְׁנֵ֣י two šĕnayim נְעָרָ֔יו of his servants; naʿar וַיִּשְׂא֖וּ and they bare nāśāʾ לְפָנָֽיו׃ before him. pānîm

וַיָּבֹא֙ And when he came bôʾ אֶל to ʾēl הָעֹ֔פֶל the tower, ʿōpel וַיִּקַּ֥ח he took lāqaḥ מִיָּדָ֖ם from their hand, yād וַיִּפְקֹ֣ד and bestowed pāqad בַּבָּ֑יִת in the house: bayit וַיְשַׁלַּ֥ח go, šālaḥ אֶת and he let ʾēt הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֖ים the men ʾĕnôš וַיֵּלֵֽכוּ׃ and they departed. hālak

וְהוּא But he hûʾ בָא֙ went in, bôʾ וַיַּֽעֲמֹ֣ד and stood ʿāmad אֶל before ʾēl אֲדֹנָ֔יו his master. ʾādôn וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said ʾāmar אֵלָיו֙ unto ʾēl אֱלִישָׁ֔ע And Elisha ʾĕlîšāʿ מֵאַ֖ןִ him, Whence ʾayin גֵּֽחֲזִ֑י Gehazi? gêḥăzî וַיֹּ֕אמֶר And he said, ʾāmar לֹֽא no lōʾ הָלַ֥ךְ went hālak עַבְדְּךָ֖ Thy servant ʿebed אָ֥נֶה whither. ʾān וָאָֽנָה׃ ʾān

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר And he said ʾāmar אֵלָיו֙ unto ʾēl לֹֽא not lōʾ לִבִּ֣י mine heart lēb הָלַ֔ךְ him, Went hālak כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֧ר when ʾăšer הָֽפַךְ turned again hāpak אִ֛ישׁ the man ʾîš מֵעַ֥ל from ʿal מֶרְכַּבְתּ֖וֹ his chariot merkābâ לִקְרָאתֶ֑ךָ to meet qirʾâ הַעֵ֞ת thee? a time ʿēt לָקַ֤חַת to receive lāqaḥ אֶת ʾēt הַכֶּ֙סֶף֙ money, kesep וְלָקַ֣חַת and to receive lāqaḥ בְּגָדִ֔ים garments, beged וְזֵיתִ֤ים and oliveyards, zayit וּכְרָמִים֙ and vineyards, kerem וְצֹ֣אן and sheep, ṣōn וּבָקָ֔ר and oxen, bāqār וַֽעֲבָדִ֖ים and menservants, ʿebed וּשְׁפָחֽוֹת׃ and maidservants? šipḥâ

וְצָרַ֤עַת The leprosy ṣāraʿat נַֽעֲמָן֙ therefore of Naaman naʿămān תִּֽדְבַּק shall cleave dābaq בְּךָ֔ וּֽבְזַרְעֲךָ unto thee, and unto thy seed zeraʿ לְעוֹלָ֑ם for ever. ʿôlām וַיֵּצֵ֥א And he went out yāṣāʾ מִלְּפָנָ֖יו from his presence pānîm מְצֹרָ֥ע a leper ṣāraʿ כַּשָּֽׁלֶג׃ as snow. šeleg
