அப்பொழுது எலியா, அந்த ஐம்பதுபேரின் தலைவனுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நான் தேவனுடைய மனுஷனானால், அக்கினி வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி, உன்னையும் உன் ஐம்பதுபேரையும் பட்சிக்கக்கடவது என்றான்; உடனே அக்கினி வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி, அவனையும் அவன் ஐம்பது பேரையும் பட்சித்தது.

அப்பொழுது எலியா, அந்த ஐம்பதுபேரின் தலைவனுக்கு மறுமொழியாக: நான் தேவனுடைய மனிதனானால், வானத்திலிருந்து அக்கினி இறங்கி, உன்னையும் உன் ஐம்பது பேரையும் சுட்டெரிக்கக்கடவது என்றான்; உடனே வானத்திலிருந்து அக்கினி இறங்கி, அவனையும் அவனுடைய ஐம்பது பேரையும் சுட்டெரித்தது.

எலியா அவனிடம், “நான் தேவமனிதன் என்றால் பரலோகத்திலிருந்து அக்கினி வந்து உன்னையும் உன்னுடைய 50 ஆட்களையும் அழிக்கட்டும்!” என்றான். அவ்வாறே வானிலிருந்து அக்கினி வந்து தளபதியையும் அவனுடன் வந்த 50 பேர்களையும் அழித்தது.
