  1. וַיִּתְחַזֵּ֛ק was strengthened ḥāzaq שְׁלֹמֹ֥ה And Solomon šĕlōmō בֶן the son bēn דָּוִ֖יד of David dāwid עַל in ʿal מַלְכוּת֑וֹ his kingdom, malkût וַֽיהוָ֤ה and the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהָיו֙ his God ʾĕlōhîm עִמּ֔וֹ with ʿim וַֽיְגַדְּלֵ֖הוּ him, and magnified gādal לְמָֽעְלָה׃ him exceedingly. maʿal
  2. וַיֹּ֣אמֶר spake ʾāmar שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה Then Solomon šĕlōmō לְכָל unto all kōl יִשְׂרָאֵ֡ל Israel, yiśrāʾēl לְשָׂרֵי֩ to the captains śar הָֽאֲלָפִ֨ים of thousands ʾelep וְהַמֵּא֜וֹת and of hundreds, mēʾâ וְלַשֹּֽׁפְטִ֗ים and to the judges, šāpaṭ וּלְכֹ֛ל and to every kōl נָשִׂ֥יא governor nāśîʾ לְכָל in all kōl יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל Israel, yiśrāʾēl רָאשֵׁ֥י the chief rōš הָֽאָבֽוֹת׃ of the fathers. ʾāb
  3. וַיֵּֽלְכ֗וּ him, went hālak שְׁלֹמֹה֙ So Solomon, šĕlōmō וְכָל and all kōl הַקָּהָ֣ל the congregation qāhāl עִמּ֔וֹ with ʿim לַבָּמָ֖ה to the high place bāmâ אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer בְּגִבְע֑וֹן at Gibeon; gibʿôn כִּי for שָׁ֣ם there šām הָיָ֗ה was hāyâ אֹ֤הֶל the tabernacle ʾōhel מוֹעֵד֙ of the congregation môʿēd הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים of God, ʾĕlōhîm אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer עָשָׂ֛ה had made ʿāśâ מֹשֶׁ֥ה Moses mōše עֶֽבֶד the servant ʿebed יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃ in the wilderness. midbār
  4. אֲבָ֗ל But ʾăbāl אֲר֤וֹן the ark ʾārôn הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ of God ʾĕlōhîm הֶֽעֱלָ֤ה brought up ʿālâ דָוִיד֙ had David dāwid מִקִּרְיַ֣ת יְעָרִ֔ים from Kirjath-jearim qiryat yĕʿārîm בַּֽהֵכִ֥ין had prepared kûn ל֖וֹ דָּוִ֑יד to David dāwid כִּ֧י for it: for נָֽטָה he had pitched nāṭâ ל֛וֹ אֹ֖הֶל a tent ʾōhel בִּירֽוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ for it at Jerusalem. yĕrûšālaim
  5. וּמִזְבַּ֣ח altar, mizbēaḥ הַנְּחֹ֗שֶׁת Moreover the brasen nĕḥōšet אֲשֶׁ֤ר that ʾăšer עָשָׂה֙ had made, ʿāśâ בְּצַלְאֵל֙ Bezaleel bĕṣalʾēl בֶּן the son bēn אוּרִ֣י of Uri, ʾûrî בֶן the son bēn ח֔וּר of Hur, ḥûr שָׂ֕ם he put śûm לִפְנֵ֖י before pānîm מִשְׁכַּ֣ן the tabernacle miškān יְהוָ֑ה of the Lord: yĕhōwâ וַיִּדְרְשֵׁ֥הוּ sought unto it. dāraš שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה and Solomon šĕlōmō וְהַקָּהָֽל׃ and the congregation qāhāl
  6. וַיַּעַל֩ went up ʿālâ שְׁלֹמֹ֨ה And Solomon šĕlōmō שָׁ֜ם thither šām עַל to ʿal מִזְבַּ֤ח altar mizbēaḥ הַנְּחֹ֙שֶׁת֙ the brasen nĕḥōšet לִפְנֵ֣י before pānîm יְהוָ֔ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ אֲשֶׁ֖ר which ʾăšer לְאֹ֣הֶל at the tabernacle ʾōhel מוֹעֵ֑ד of the congregation, môʿēd וַיַּ֧עַל and offered ʿālâ עָלָ֛יו upon it. ʿal עֹל֖וֹת burnt offerings ʿōlâ אָֽלֶף׃ a thousand ʾelep
  7. בַּלַּ֣יְלָה night layil הַה֔וּא In that hûʾ נִרְאָ֥ה appear rāʾâ אֱלֹהִ֖ים did God ʾĕlōhîm לִשְׁלֹמֹ֑ה unto Solomon, šĕlōmō וַיֹּ֣אמֶר and said ʾāmar ל֔וֹ שְׁאַ֖ל unto him, Ask šāʾal מָ֥ה what אֶתֶּן I shall give thee. nātan לָֽךְ׃
  8. וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said ʾāmar שְׁלֹמֹה֙ And Solomon šĕlōmō לֵֽאלֹהִ֔ים unto God, ʾĕlōhîm אַתָּ֗ה Thou ʾattâ עָשִׂ֛יתָ hast shewed ʿāśâ עִם unto ʿim דָּוִ֥יד David dāwid אָבִ֖י my father, ʾāb חֶ֣סֶד mercy ḥēsēd גָּד֑וֹל great gādôl וְהִמְלַכְתַּ֖נִי and hast made me to reign mālak תַּחְתָּֽיו׃ in his stead. taḥat
  9. עַתָּה֙ Now, ʿattâ יְהוָ֣ה O Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהִ֔ים God, ʾĕlōhîm יֵֽאָמֵן֙ be established: ʾāman דְּבָ֣רְךָ֔ let thy promise dābār עִ֖ם unto ʿim דָּוִ֣יד David dāwid אָבִ֑י my father ʾāb כִּ֤י for אַתָּה֙ thou ʾattâ הִמְלַכְתַּ֔נִי hast made me king mālak עַל over ʿal עַ֕ם a people ʿam רַ֖ב in multitude. rab כַּֽעֲפַ֥ר like the dust ʿāpār הָאָֽרֶץ׃ of the earth ʾereṣ
  10. עַתָּ֗ה me now ʿattâ חָכְמָ֤ה wisdom ḥokmâ וּמַדָּע֙ and knowledge, maddāʿ תֶּן Give nātan לִ֔י וְאֵֽצְאָ֛ה that I may go out yāṣāʾ לִפְנֵ֥י before pānîm הָֽעָם people: ʿam הַזֶּ֖ה this ze וְאָב֑וֹאָה and come in bôʾ כִּֽי for מִ֣י who יִשְׁפֹּ֔ט can judge šāpaṭ אֶת ʾēt עַמְּךָ֥ thy people, ʿam הַזֶּ֖ה this ze הַגָּדֽוֹל׃ great? gādôl
  11. וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said ʾāmar אֱלֹהִ֣ים׀ And God ʾĕlōhîm לִשְׁלֹמֹ֡ה to Solomon, šĕlōmō יַ֣עַן Because yaʿan אֲשֶׁר֩ ʾăšer הָֽיְתָ֨ה was hāyâ זֹ֜את this zōt עִם in ʿim לְבָבֶ֗ךָ thine heart, lēbāb וְלֹֽא and thou hast not lōʾ שָׁ֠אַלְתָּ asked šāʾal עֹ֣שֶׁר riches, ʿōšer נְכָסִ֤ים wealth, nekes וְכָבוֹד֙ or honour, kābôd וְאֵת֙ ʾēt נֶ֣פֶשׁ nor the life nepeš שֹֽׂנְאֶ֔יךָ of thine enemies, śānēʾ וְגַם yet gam יָמִ֥ים life; yôm רַבִּ֖ים long rab לֹ֣א neither lōʾ שָׁאָ֑לְתָּ hast asked šāʾal וַתִּֽשְׁאַל but hast asked šāʾal לְךָ֙ חָכְמָ֣ה wisdom ḥokmâ וּמַדָּ֔ע and knowledge maddāʿ אֲשֶׁ֤ר for thyself, that ʾăšer תִּשְׁפּוֹט֙ thou mayest judge šāpaṭ אֶת ʾēt עַמִּ֔י my people, ʿam אֲשֶׁ֥ר whom ʾăšer הִמְלַכְתִּ֖יךָ I have made thee king: mālak עָלָֽיו׃ over ʿal
  12. הַֽחָכְמָ֥ה Wisdom ḥokmâ וְהַמַּדָּ֖ע and knowledge maddāʿ נָת֣וּן granted nātan לָ֑ךְ וְעֹ֨שֶׁר thee riches, ʿōšer וּנְכָסִ֤ים and wealth, nekes וְכָבוֹד֙ and honour, kābôd אֶתֶּן unto thee; and I will give nātan לָ֔ךְ אֲשֶׁ֣ר׀ such as ʾăšer לֹא none lōʾ הָ֣יָה have had hāyâ כֵ֗ן kēn לַמְּלָכִים֙ of the kings melek אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer לְפָנֶ֔יךָ before pānîm וְאַֽחֲרֶ֖יךָ shall there any after ʾaḥar לֹ֥א thee, neither lōʾ יִֽהְיֶה thee have hāyâ כֵּֽן׃ the like. kēn
  13. וַיָּבֹ֨א came bôʾ שְׁלֹמֹ֜ה Then Solomon šĕlōmō לַבָּמָ֤ה to the high place bāmâ אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer בְּגִבְעוֹן֙ at Gibeon gibʿôn יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם to Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim מִלִּפְנֵ֖י from before pānîm אֹ֣הֶל the tabernacle ʾōhel מוֹעֵ֑ד of the congregation, môʿēd וַיִּמְלֹ֖ךְ and reigned mālak עַל over ʿal יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Israel. yiśrāʾēl
  14. וַיֶּֽאֱסֹ֣ף gathered ʾāsap שְׁלֹמֹה֮ And Solomon šĕlōmō רֶ֣כֶב chariots rekeb וּפָֽרָשִׁים֒ and horsemen: pāroš וַֽיְהִי and he had hāyâ ל֗וֹ אֶ֤לֶף a thousand ʾelep וְאַרְבַּע and four ʾarbaʿ מֵאוֹת֙ hundred mēʾâ רֶ֔כֶב chariots, rekeb וּשְׁנֵים and twelve šĕnayim עָשָׂ֥ר ʿāśār אֶ֖לֶף thousand ʾelep פָּֽרָשִׁ֑ים horsemen, pāroš וַיַּנִּיחֵם֙ which he placed yānaḥ בְּעָרֵ֣י cities, ʿîr הָרֶ֔כֶב in the chariot rekeb וְעִם and with ʿim הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ the king melek בִּירֽוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ at Jerusalem. yĕrûšālaim
  15. וַיִּתֵּ֨ן made nātan הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ And the king melek אֶת ʾēt הַכֶּ֧סֶף silver kesep וְאֶת ʾēt הַזָּהָ֛ב and gold zāhāb בִּירֽוּשָׁלִַ֖ם at Jerusalem yĕrûšālaim כָּֽאֲבָנִ֑ים as stones, ʾeben וְאֵ֣ת ʾēt הָֽאֲרָזִ֗ים and cedar trees ʾerez נָתַ֛ן made nātan כַּשִּׁקְמִ֥ים he as the sycomore trees šiqmâ אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer בַּשְּׁפֵלָ֖ה in the vale šĕpēlâ לָרֹֽב׃ for abundance. rōb
  16. וּמוֹצָ֧א brought out môṣāʾ הַסּוּסִ֛ים had horses sûs אֲשֶׁ֥ר ʾăšer לִשְׁלֹמֹ֖ה And Solomon šĕlōmō מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם of Egypt, miṣrayim וּמִקְוֵ֕א and linen yarn: miqwe סֹֽחֲרֵ֣י merchants sāḥar הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ the king's melek מִקְוֵ֥א the linen yarn miqwe יִקְח֖וּ received lāqaḥ בִּמְחִֽיר׃ at a price. mĕḥîr
  17. וַֽ֠יַּעֲלוּ And they fetched up, ʿālâ וַיּוֹצִ֨יאוּ and brought forth yāṣāʾ מִמִּצְרַ֤יִם out of Egypt miṣrayim מֶרְכָּבָה֙ a chariot merkābâ בְּשֵׁ֣שׁ for six šēš מֵא֣וֹת hundred mēʾâ כֶּ֔סֶף of silver, kesep וְס֖וּס and an horse sûs בַּֽחֲמִשִּׁ֣ים and fifty: ḥămiššîm וּמֵאָ֑ה for an hundred mēʾâ וְ֠כֵן and so kēn לְכָל for all kōl מַלְכֵ֧י the kings melek הַֽחִתִּ֛ים of the Hittites, ḥittî וּמַלְכֵ֥י and for the kings melek אֲרָ֖ם of Syria, ʾărām בְּיָדָ֥ם by their means. yād יוֹצִֽיאוּ׃ brought they out yāṣāʾ
