தன் ஆயுததாரியை நோக்கி: அந்த விருத்தசேதனம் இல்லாதவர்கள் வந்து, என்னைக் குத்திப்போட்டு, என்னை அவமானப்படுத்தாதபடிக்கு, நீ உன் பட்டயத்தை உருவி, என்னைக் குத்திப்போடு என்றான்; அவனுடைய ஆயுததாரி மிகவும் பயப்பட்டதினால், அப்படிச் செய்யமாட்டேன் என்றான்; அப்பொழுது சவுல் பட்டயத்தை நட்டு அதின்மேல் விழுந்தான்.

தன்னுடைய ஆயுததாரியைப் பார்த்து: அந்த விருத்தசேதனம் இல்லாதவர்கள் வந்து, என்னைக் குத்திப்போட்டு, என்னை அவமானப்படுத்தாதபடி, நீ உன்னுடைய பட்டயத்தை உருவி, என்னைக் குத்திப்போடு என்றான்; அவனுடைய ஆயுததாரி மிகவும் பயப்பட்டதால், அப்படிச் செய்யமாட்டேன் என்றான்; அப்பொழுது சவுல் பட்டயத்தை நிலத்திலே குத்தி வைத்து அதின்மேல் விழுந்தான்.

தன்னோடு ஆயுதம் தூக்கி வருபவனிடம் சவுல், “உனது பட்டயத்தை எடுத்து என்னைக் கொன்று போடு. அதனால் அந்நியர் என்னை காயப்படுத்தி கேலிச் செய்யாமல் இருப்பார்கள்” என்றான். அவன் பயந்து அவ்வாறு செய்ய மறுத்துவிட்டான். எனவே சவுல் தனது வாளை உருவி தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டான்.

அப்பொழுது சவுல் தம் படைக்கலன் தாங்குவோனை நோக்கி, “இந்த விருத்தசேதனமற்றோர் என்னைக் குத்திக் கொன்று எனக்கு அவமானத்தை வருவிக்காவண்ணம் நீ உன் வாளை உருவி என்னைக் குத்திக் கொன்று விடு,” என்றார். ஆனால், அவருடைய படைக்கலன் தாங்குவோன் மிகவும் அஞ்சியதால் அதற்கு அவன் இசையவில்லை. ஆதலால், சவுல் தம் வாளை எடுத்து, தாமே அதன்மீது வீழ்ந்து மடிந்தார்.

Than aayuthathaariyai Nnokki: antha viruththasethanam illaathavarkal vanthu, ennaik kuththippottu, ennai avamaanappaduththaathapatikku, nee un pattayaththai uruvi, ennaik kuththippodu entan; avanutaiya aayuthathaari mikavum payappattathinaal, appatich seyyamaattaேn entan; appoluthu savul pattayaththai nattu athinmael vilunthaan.
