தாவீது கர்த்தரை நோக்கி: நான் அந்தத் தண்டைப் பின் தொடரவேண்டுமா? அதைப் பிடிப்பேனா? என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவர்: அதைப் பின்தொடர்; அதை நீ பிடித்து, சகலத்தையும் திருப்பிக்கொள்வாய் என்றார்.

பிறகு தாவீது கர்த்தரிடம் ஜெபம் செய்தான். “எங்கள் குடும்பத்‌தை பிடித்துக் கொண்டு போனவர்களைத் துரத்தட்டுமா? அவர்களைப் பிடிப்போமா?” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு கர்த்தர், “அவர்களைத் துரத்து, நீ பிடிப்பாய், நீ உங்கள் குடும்பங்களைக் காப்பாற்றுவாய்” என்றார்.

அப்பொழுது தாவீது, “நான் கொள்ளைக் கூட்டத்தாரைப் பின் தொடரட்டுமா? நான் வெற்றி கொள்வேனா?” என்று ஆண்டவரிடம் வினவினார். அதற்கு அவர், ‘பின்தொடர்! நீ வெற்றியடைவது உறுதி! சிறைப்பட்டோரை மீட்பதும் உறுதி” என்று பதிலளித்தார்.
