இஸ்ரவேலில் மூவாயிரம்பேரைத் தனக்குத் தெரிந்துகொண்டான்; அவர்களில் இரண்டாயிரம்பேர் சவுலோடேகூட மிக்மாசிலும் பெத்தேல் மலையிலும், ஆயிரம்பேர் யோனத்தானோடேகூடப் பென்யமீன் நாட்டிலுள்ள கிபியாவிலும் இருந்தார்கள்; மற்ற ஜனங்களை அவரவர் கூடாரங்களுக்கு அனுப்பிவிட்டான்.

அப்பொழுது சவுல் தமக்காக இஸ்ரயேலிருந்து மூவாயிரம் பேரைத் தேர்ந்து கொண்டார். மிக்மாசிலும் பெத்தேல் மலையிலும் சவுலுடன் இரண்டாயிரம் பேர் இருந்தனர். பென்யமினைச் சார்ந்த கிபயாவில் யோனாத்துடன் ஆயிரம் பேர் இருந்தனர். எஞ்சிய மக்களை அவர் அவரவர் இல்லத்திற்கு அனுப்பி வைத்தார்.⒫
