அப்பொழுது அவள்: நான் உம்மை ஒரு சிறிய மன்றாட்டைக் கேட்க விரும்புகிறேன்; எனக்கு அதை மறுக்கவேண்டாம் என்றாள். அதற்கு ராஜா: என் தாயாரே, கேளும்; நான் உமக்கு மறுப்பதில்லை என்றான்.

பத்சேபாள் அவனிடம், “நான் உன்னிடம் கேட்பதற்கு ஒரு சிறிய காரியம் உள்ளது. தயவுசெய்து மறுத்துவிடாதே” என்றாள். அதற்கு அரசன், “அம்மா, நீங்கள் என்னிடம் எதை வேண்டுமானாலும் கேட்கலாம். நான் மறுக்கமாட்டேன்” என்றான்.

Appoluthu aval: naan ummai oru siriya mantattaைk kaetka virumpukiraேn; enakku athai maraுkkavaenndaam ental. Atharku raajaa: en thaayaarae, kaelum; naan umakku maraுppathillai entan.

I אָֽנֹכִי֙ ʾānōkî ah-noh-HEE
desire of thee; שֹׁאֶ֣לֶת šāʾal sha-AL
מֵֽאִתָּ֔ךְ ʾēt ate
not אַל ʾal al
say nay. תָּ֖שֶׁב šûb shoov
אֶת ʾēt ate
me פָּנָ֑י pānîm pa-NEEM
said וַיֹּֽאמֶר ʾāmar ah-MAHR
לָ֤הּ
And the king הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ melek meh-LEK
unto her, Ask on, שַֽׁאֲלִ֣י šāʾal sha-AL
my mother: אִמִּ֔י ʾēm ame
for כִּ֥י kî kee

I will say nay. אָשִׁ֖יב šûb shoov
