פְּתַ֥ח Open pātaḥ לְבָנ֖וֹן O Lebanon, lĕbānôn דְּלָתֶ֑יךָ thy doors, delet וְתֹאכַ֥ל may devour ʾākal אֵ֖שׁ that the fire ʾēš בַּאֲרָזֶֽיךָ׃ thy cedars. ʾerez

הֵילֵ֤ל Howl, yālal בְּרוֹשׁ֙ fir tree; bĕrôš כִּֽי for kî נָ֣פַל is fallen; nāpal אֶ֔רֶז the cedar ʾerez אֲשֶׁ֥ר because ʾăšer אַדִּרִ֖ים the mighty ʾaddîr שֻׁדָּ֑דוּ are spoiled: šādad הֵילִ֙ילוּ֙ howl, yālal אַלּוֹנֵ֣י O ye oaks ʾallôn בָשָׁ֔ן of Bashan; bāšān כִּ֥י for kî יָרַ֖ד is come down. yārad יַ֥עַר the forest yaʿar הַבָּצִֽור׃ of the vintage bāṣôr

ק֚וֹל a voice qôl יִֽלְלַ֣ת of the howling yĕlālâ הָרֹעִ֔ים of the shepherds; rāʿâ כִּ֥י for kî שֻׁדְּדָ֖ה is spoiled: šādad אַדַּרְתָּ֑ם their glory ʾadderet ק֚וֹל a voice qôl שַׁאֲגַ֣ת of the roaring šĕʾāgâ כְּפִירִ֔ים of young lions; kĕpîr כִּ֥י for kî שֻׁדַּ֖ד is spoiled. šādad גְּא֥וֹן the pride gāʾôn הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃ of Jordan yardēn

כֹּ֥ה Thus kō אָמַ֖ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהָ֑י my God; ʾĕlōhîm רְעֵ֖ה Feed rāʿâ אֶת ʾēt צֹ֥אן the flock ṣōn הַהֲרֵגָֽה׃ of the slaughter; hărēgâ

אֲשֶׁ֨ר Whose ʾăšer קֹנֵיהֶ֤ן possessors qānâ יַֽהַרְגֻן֙ slay hārag וְלֹ֣א lōʾ יֶאְשָׁ֔מוּ them, and hold themselves not guilty: ʾāšam וּמֹכְרֵיהֶ֣ן and they that sell mākar יֹאמַ֔ר them say, ʾāmar בָּר֥וּךְ Blessed bārak יְהוָ֖ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ וַאעְשִׁ֑ר for I am rich: ʿāšar וְרֹ֣עֵיהֶ֔ם and their own shepherds rāʿâ לֹ֥א lōʾ יַחְמ֖וֹל pity ḥāmal עֲלֵיהֶֽן׃ them not. ʿal

כִּ֠י For kî לֹ֣א I will no lōʾ אֶחְמ֥וֹל pity ḥāmal ע֛וֹד more ʿôd עַל ʿal יֹשְׁבֵ֥י the inhabitants yāšab הָאָ֖רֶץ of the land, ʾereṣ נְאֻם saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֑ה the Lord: yĕhōwâ וְהִנֵּ֨ה but, lo, hinnē אָנֹכִ֜י I ʾānōkî מַמְצִ֣יא will deliver māṣāʾ אֶת ʾēt הָאָדָ֗ם the men ʾādām אִ֤ישׁ every one ʾîš בְּיַד hand, yād רֵעֵ֙הוּ֙ into his neighbour's rēaʿ וּבְיַ֣ד and into the hand yād מַלְכּ֔וֹ of his king: melek וְכִתְּתוּ֙ and they shall smite kātat אֶת ʾēt הָאָ֔רֶץ the land, ʾereṣ וְלֹ֥א I will not lōʾ אַצִּ֖יל deliver nāṣal מִיָּדָֽם׃ and out of their hand yād

וָֽאֶרְעֶה֙ And I will feed rāʿâ אֶת ʾēt צֹ֣אן the flock ṣōn הַֽהֲרֵגָ֔ה of slaughter, hărēgâ לָכֵ֖ן you, kēn עֲנִיֵּ֣י O poor ʿānî הַצֹּ֑אן of the flock. ṣōn וָאֶקַּֽח And I took lāqaḥ לִ֞י שְׁנֵ֣י unto me two šĕnayim מַקְל֗וֹת staves; maqqēl לְאַחַ֞ד the one ʾeḥād קָרָ֤אתִי I called qārāʾ נֹ֙עַם֙ Beauty, nōʿam וּלְאַחַד֙ and the other ʾeḥād קָרָ֣אתִי I called qārāʾ חֹֽבְלִ֔ים Bands; ḥebel וָאֶרְעֶ֖ה and I fed rāʿâ אֶת ʾēt הַצֹּֽאן׃ the flock. ṣōn

וָאַכְחִ֛ד also I cut off kāḥad אֶת ʾēt שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת Three šālôš הָרֹעִ֖ים shepherds rāʿâ בְּיֶ֣רַח month; yeraḥ אֶחָ֑ד in one ʾeḥād וַתִּקְצַ֤ר lothed qāṣar נַפְשִׁי֙ and my soul nepeš בָּהֶ֔ם וְגַם also gam נַפְשָׁ֖ם them, and their soul nepeš בָּחֲלָ֥ה abhorred me. bāḥal בִֽי׃

וָאֹמַ֕ר Then said ʾāmar לֹ֥א I, I will not lōʾ אֶרְעֶ֖ה feed rāʿâ אֶתְכֶ֑ם ʾēt הַמֵּתָ֣ה you: that that dieth, mût תָמ֗וּת let it die; mût וְהַנִּכְחֶ֙דֶת֙ and that that is to be cut off, kāḥad תִּכָּחֵ֔ד let it be cut off; kāḥad וְהַ֨נִּשְׁאָר֔וֹת and let the rest šāʾar תֹּאכַ֕לְנָה eat ʾākal אִשָּׁ֖ה every one ʾiššâ אֶת ʾēt בְּשַׂ֥ר the flesh bāśār רְעוּתָֽהּ׃ of another. rĕʿût

וָאֶקַּ֤ח And I took lāqaḥ אֶת ʾēt מַקְלִי֙ my staff, maqqēl אֶת ʾēt נֹ֔עַם Beauty, nōʿam וָאֶגְדַּ֖ע and cut it asunder, gādaʿ אֹת֑וֹ ʾēt לְהָפֵיר֙ that I might break pārar אֶת ʾēt בְּרִיתִ֔י my covenant bĕrît אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer כָּרַ֖תִּי I had made kārat אֶת with ʾēt כָּל all kōl הָעַמִּֽים׃ the people. ʿam

וַתֻּפַ֖ר And it was broken pārar בַּיּ֣וֹם day: yôm הַה֑וּא in that hûʾ וַיֵּדְע֨וּ me knew yādaʿ כֵ֜ן and so kēn עֲנִיֵּ֤י the poor ʿānî הַצֹּאן֙ of the flock ṣōn הַשֹּׁמְרִ֣ים that waited upon šāmar אֹתִ֔י ʾēt כִּ֥י that kî דְבַר the word dābār יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord. yĕhōwâ הֽוּא׃ it hûʾ

וָאֹמַ֣ר And I said ʾāmar אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם unto ʾēl אִם them, If ʾim ט֧וֹב good, ṭôb בְּעֵינֵיכֶ֛ם ye think ʿayin הָב֥וּ give yāhab שְׂכָרִ֖י my price; śākār וְאִם and if ʾim לֹ֣א׀ not, lōʾ חֲדָ֑לוּ forbear. ḥādal וַיִּשְׁקְל֥וּ So they weighed for šāqal אֶת ʾēt שְׂכָרִ֖י my price śākār שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים thirty šĕlôšîm כָּֽסֶף׃ of silver. kesep

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said ʾāmar יְהוָ֜ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵלַ֗י unto ʾēl הַשְׁלִיכֵ֙הוּ֙ me, Cast šālak אֶל it unto ʾēl הַיּוֹצֵ֔ר the potter: yāṣar אֶ֣דֶר a goodly ʾeder הַיְקָ֔ר price yĕqār אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer יָקַ֖רְתִּי I was prised at yāqar מֵֽעֲלֵיהֶ֑ם of ʿal וָֽאֶקְחָה֙ them. And I took lāqaḥ שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים the thirty šĕlôšîm הַכֶּ֔סֶף of silver, kesep וָאַשְׁלִ֥יךְ and cast šālak אֹת֛וֹ ʾēt בֵּ֥ית in the house bayit יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord. yĕhōwâ אֶל them to ʾēl הַיּוֹצֵֽר׃ the potter yāṣar

וָֽאֶגְדַּע֙ Then I cut asunder gādaʿ אֶת ʾēt מַקְלִ֣י staff, maqqēl הַשֵּׁנִ֔י mine other šēnî אֵ֖ת ʾēt הַחֹֽבְלִ֑ים Bands, ḥebel לְהָפֵר֙ that I might break pārar אֶת ʾēt הָֽאַחֲוָ֔ה the brotherhood ʾaḥăwâ בֵּ֥ין between bên יְהוּדָ֖ה Judah yĕhûdâ וּבֵ֥ין bên יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ and Israel. yiśrāʾēl

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר said ʾāmar יְהוָ֖ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵלָ֑י unto ʾēl ע֣וֹד unto thee yet ʿôd קַח me, Take lāqaḥ לְךָ֔ כְּלִ֖י the instruments kĕlî רֹעֶ֥ה shepherd. rāʿâ אֱוִלִֽי׃ of a foolish ʾĕwilî

כִּ֣י For, kî הִנֵּֽה lo, hinnē אָנֹכִי֩ I ʾānōkî מֵקִ֨ים will raise up qûm רֹעֶ֜ה a shepherd rāʿâ בָּאָ֗רֶץ in the land, ʾereṣ הַנִּכְחָד֤וֹת those that be cut off, kāḥad לֹֽא shall not lōʾ יִפְקֹד֙ visit pāqad הַנַּ֣עַר the young one, naʿar לֹֽא neither lōʾ יְבַקֵּ֔שׁ shall seek bāqaš וְהַנִּשְׁבֶּ֖רֶת that that is broken, šābar לֹ֣א nor lōʾ יְרַפֵּ֑א heal rāpāʾ הַנִּצָּבָה֙ that that standeth still: nāṣab לֹ֣א nor lōʾ יְכַלְכֵּ֔ל feed kûl וּבְשַׂ֤ר the flesh bāśār הַבְּרִיאָה֙ of the fat, bārîʾ יֹאכַ֔ל but he shall eat ʾākal וּפַרְסֵיהֶ֖ן their claws in parsâ יְפָרֵֽק׃ and tear pieces. pāraq

ה֣וֹי Woe hôy רֹעִ֤י shepherd rōʿî הָֽאֱלִיל֙ to the idol ʾĕlîl עֹזְבִ֣י that leaveth ʿāzab הַצֹּ֔אן the flock! ṣōn חֶ֥רֶב the sword ḥereb עַל upon ʿal זְרוֹע֖וֹ his arm, zĕrôaʿ וְעַל and upon ʿal עֵ֣ין eye: ʿayin יְמִינ֑וֹ his right yāmîn זְרֹעוֹ֙ his arm zĕrôaʿ יָב֣וֹשׁ shall be clean yābēš תִּיבָ֔שׁ dried up, yābēš וְעֵ֥ין eye ʿayin יְמִינ֖וֹ and his right yāmîn כָּהֹ֥ה shall be utterly kāhâ תִכְהֶֽה׃ darkened. kāhâ
