Proverbs 25 - DBY (Punjabi)

1 These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah transcribed.ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਕਹਾਉਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਕਹਾਉਤਾਂ ਹਨ, ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ, ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ।

2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing; but the glory of kings is to search out a thing.ਕੁਝ ਖਾਸ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਪਤ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਹੱਕ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਇਨਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਛਾਣ-ਬੀਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।

3 The heavens for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ ਲਗਾ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਕਿ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਜਾਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀ ਹੈ।

4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there cometh forth a vessel for the refiner:ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਚੋ ਅਸ਼ੁੱਧਤਾ ਕੱਢਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਇੱਕ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ ਗਹਿਣੇ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਬਣਾ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

5 take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੀ ਕਚਿਹਰੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਦਿਉਂਗੇ, ਨੇਕੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸਦਾ ਤਖਤ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

6 Put not thyself forward in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of the great;ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਫ਼ੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾ ਮਾਰੋ। ਇਹ ਨਾ ਆਖੋ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਹੋ।

7 for better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither, than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes see.ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੁਲਾਵੇ, ਬਜਾਏ ਇਸਦੇ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕਚਿਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਅਪਮਾਨਿਤ ਕਰੇ।

8 Go not forth hastily to strive, lest [thou know not] what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.ਕਿਸੇ ਨਿਆਂਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦੱਸਣ ਦੀ ਕਾਹਲ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੀ ਦੇਖਿਆ। ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਸਾਬਤ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਗੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।

9 Debate thy cause with thy neighbour, but reveal not the secret of another;ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਵਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋ, ਤਾਂ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਕਰੋ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਧੋਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਂ।

10 lest he that heareth [it] disgrace thee, and thine evil report turn not away.ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਕੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਮਸਾਰ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਬਦਨਾਮੀ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।

11 [As] apples of gold in pictures of silver, is a word spoken in season.ਸਹੀ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਆਖਣਾ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਸੁਨਿਹਰੀ ਸੇਬ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ।

12 An ear-ring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, is a wise reprover upon an attentive ear.ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਝਿੜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣੋਗੇ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ।

13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, [so] is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.ਇੱਕ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ਵਾਹਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ, ਵਾਢੀ ਦੀ ਰੁੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਠੰਡੀ ਵਾਛੜ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਚਲਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ।

14 Clouds and wind without rain, [so] is a man that boasteth himself of a false gift.ਜਿਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਸੌਗਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਦਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹਵਾਵਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਵਰੱਖਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ।

15 By long forbearing is a ruler persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.ਧੀਰਜ ਭਰੀ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਸੋਚ ਨੂੰ ਬਦਲ ਸੱਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਹਾਕਮ ਦੀ ਸੋਚ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ। ਕੋਮਲ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਬਹੁਤ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

16 Hast thou found honey? Eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be surfeited therewith, and vomit it.ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਇਸਦਾ ਲੋੜ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸੇਵਨ ਨਾ ਕਰ। ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰੋਂਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੋਂਗੇ।

17 Let thy foot be seldom in thy neighbour's house; lest he be weary of thee and hate thee.ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਆਉਣ ਜਾਣ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ, ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਅੱਕ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਵੇਗਾ।

18 A maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow, is a man that beareth false witness against his neighbour.ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਝੂਠਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਦਿੰਦਾ, ਉਹ ਹਥੌੜੇ, ਇੱਕ ਤੇਜ਼ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਜਾਂ ਤਿੱਖੇ ਤੀਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

19 A broken tooth, and a tottering foot, is confidence in an unfaithful [man] in the day of trouble.ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਨਿਰਭਰ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ। ਉਹ ਬੰਦਾ ਦੁੱਖਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਦੰਦ ਜਾਂ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਹੋਏ ਪੈਰ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਉਸਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਲੋੜ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

20 [As] he that taketh off a garment in cold weather, [and as] vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to a sad heart.ਕਿਸੇ ਉਦਾਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਕੇ ਸੁਨਾਉਣਾ ਠੰਢ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਲਾਹੁਣ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸੱਟ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਿਰਕਾ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ।

21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:ਜੇ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਭੁੱਖਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਟੀ ਦਿਓ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੀਣ ਲਈ ਪਾਣੀ ਦਿਓ।

22 for thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and Jehovah shall reward thee.ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਮਚਦੇ ਕੋਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਢੇਰ ਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਨਾਮ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।

23 The north wind bringeth forth rain, and the angry countenance a backbiting tongue.ਉੱਤਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹਵਾ ਮੀਂਹ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਚੁਗਲੀ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

24 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a contentious woman, and a house in common.ਝਗੜਾਲੂ ਪਤਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਘਰ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਛੱਤ ਤੇ ਖੂੰਜੇ ’ਚ ਸੌਣਾ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਹੈ।

25 [As] cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.ਦੂਰ ਦੁਰਾਡਿਓ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਖਬਰ ਓਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸਖਤ ਗਰਮੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਠੰਡਾ ਪਾਣੀ।

26 A troubled fountain, and a defiled well, is a righteous [man] that giveth way before the wicked.ਇੱਕ ਧਰਮੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਡਿੱਗਣਾ ਮੈਲੇ ਝਰਨੇ ਜਾਂ ਦੂਸ਼ਿਤ ਖੂਹ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

27 It is not good to eat much honey; and to search into weighty matters is [itself] a weight.ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਖਾਣਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਲਈ ਆਦਰ ਕਰਵਾਉਣਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ।

28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is [as] a city broken down, without walls.ਜਿਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਖੁਦ ਤੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਨਹੀਂ, ਬਿਨਾਂ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੰਧ ਵਾਲੇ ਖੁਲ੍ਹੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ।
