לְדָוִ֨ד׀ of David. dāwid

יְהוָ֤ה׀ The Lord yĕhōwâ אוֹרִ֣י my light ʾôr וְ֭יִשְׁעִי and my salvation; yešaʿ מִמִּ֣י whom mî אִירָ֑א shall I fear? yārēʾ יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ מָֽעוֹז the strength māʿôz חַ֝יַּ֗י of my life; ḥay מִמִּ֥י of whom mî אֶפְחָֽד׃ shall I be afraid? pāḥad

בִּקְרֹ֤ב came qārab עָלַ֨י׀ upon ʿal מְרֵעִים֮ When the wicked, rāʿaʿ לֶאֱכֹ֪ל me to eat up ʾākal אֶת ʾēt בְּשָׂ֫רִ֥י my flesh, bāśār צָרַ֣י mine enemies ṣar וְאֹיְבַ֣י and my foes, ʾōyēb לִ֑י הֵ֖מָּה they hēm כָשְׁל֣וּ stumbled kāšal וְנָפָֽלוּ׃ and fell. nāpal

אִם Though ʾim תַּחֲנֶ֬ה should encamp ḥānâ עָלַ֨י׀ against ʿal מַחֲנֶה֮ an host maḥăne לֹֽא shall not lōʾ יִירָ֪א fear: yārēʾ לִ֫בִּ֥י me, my heart lēb אִם though ʾim תָּק֣וּם should rise qûm עָ֭לַי against ʿal מִלְחָמָ֑ה war milḥāmâ בְּ֝זֹ֗את me, in this zōt אֲנִ֣י I ʾănî בוֹטֵֽחַ׃ confident. bāṭaḥ

אַחַ֤ת׀ One ʾeḥād שָׁאַ֣לְתִּי have I desired šāʾal מֵֽאֵת of ʾēt יְהוָה֮ the Lord, yĕhōwâ אוֹתָ֪הּ ʾēt אֲבַ֫קֵּ֥שׁ that will I seek after; bāqaš שִׁבְתִּ֣י that I may dwell yāšab בְּבֵית in the house bayit יְ֭הוָה of the Lord yĕhōwâ כָּל all kōl יְמֵ֣י the days yôm חַיַּ֑י of my life, ḥay לַחֲז֥וֹת to behold ḥāzâ בְּנֹֽעַם the beauty nōʿam יְ֝הוָ֗ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ וּלְבַקֵּ֥ר and to inquire bāqar בְּהֵיכָלֽוֹ׃ in his temple. hêkāl

כִּ֤י For kî יִצְפְּנֵ֨נִי׀ he shall hide ṣāpan בְּסֻכֹּה֮ me in his pavilion: sōk בְּי֪וֹם in the time yôm רָ֫עָ֥ה of trouble raʿ יַ֭סְתִּרֵנִי shall he hide sātar בְּסֵ֣תֶר in the secret sēter אָהֳל֑וֹ of his tabernacle ʾōhel בְּ֝צ֗וּר upon a rock. ṣûr יְרוֹמְמֵֽנִי׃ me; he shall set me up rûm

וְעַתָּ֨ה And now ʿattâ יָר֪וּם be lifted up rûm רֹאשִׁ֡י shall mine head rōš עַ֤ל above ʿal אֹֽיְבַ֬י mine enemies ʾōyēb סְֽבִיבוֹתַ֗י round about sābîb וְאֶזְבְּחָ֣ה me: therefore will I offer zābaḥ בְ֭אָהֳלוֹ in his tabernacle ʾōhel זִבְחֵ֣י sacrifices zebaḥ תְרוּעָ֑ה of joy; tĕrûʿâ אָשִׁ֥ירָה I will sing, šîr וַ֝אֲזַמְּרָ֗ה yea, I will sing praises zāmar לַיהוָֽה׃ unto the Lord. yĕhōwâ

שְׁמַע Hear, šāmaʿ יְהוָ֖ה O Lord, yĕhōwâ קוֹלִ֥י with my voice: qôl אֶקְרָ֗א I cry qārāʾ וְחָנֵּ֥נִי have mercy ḥānan וַעֲנֵֽנִי׃ also upon me, and answer me. ʿānâ

לְךָ֤׀ אָמַ֣ר said ʾāmar לִ֭בִּי my heart lēb בַּקְּשׁ֣וּ Seek bāqaš פָנָ֑י ye my face; pānîm אֶת unto thee, ʾēt פָּנֶ֖יךָ Thy face, pānîm יְהוָ֣ה Lord, yĕhōwâ אֲבַקֵּֽשׁ׃ will I seek. bāqaš

אַל not ʾal תַּסְתֵּ֬ר Hide sātar פָּנֶ֨יךָ׀ thy face pānîm מִמֶּנִּי֮ from min אַֽל away ʾal תַּט me; put nāṭâ בְּאַ֗ף in anger: ʾap עַ֫בְדֶּ֥ךָ not thy servant ʿebed עֶזְרָתִ֥י my help; ʿezrâ הָיִ֑יתָ thou hast been hāyâ אַֽל me not, ʾal תִּטְּשֵׁ֥נִי leave nāṭaš וְאַל neither ʾal תַּֽ֝עַזְבֵ֗נִי forsake ʿāzab אֱלֹהֵ֥י me, O God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׁעִֽי׃ of my salvation. yešaʿ

כִּי When kî אָבִ֣י my father ʾāb וְאִמִּ֣י and my mother ʾēm עֲזָב֑וּנִי forsake ʿāzab וַֽיהוָ֣ה me, then the Lord yĕhōwâ יַֽאַסְפֵֽנִי׃ will take me up. ʾāsap

ה֤וֹרֵ֥נִי Teach yārâ יְהוָ֗ה O Lord, yĕhōwâ דַּ֫רְכֶּ֥ךָ me thy way, derek וּ֭נְחֵנִי and lead nāḥâ בְּאֹ֣רַח path, ʾōraḥ מִישׁ֑וֹר me in a plain mîšôr לְ֝מַ֗עַן because of maʿan שׁוֹרְרָֽי׃ mine enemies. šārar

אַֽל me not ʾal תִּ֭תְּנֵנִי Deliver nātan בְּנֶ֣פֶשׁ over unto the will nepeš צָרָ֑י of mine enemies: ṣar כִּ֥י for kî קָֽמוּ are risen up qûm בִ֥י עֵֽדֵי witnesses ʿēd שֶׁ֝֗קֶר false šeqer וִיפֵ֥חַ against me, and such as breathe out yāpēaḥ חָמָֽס׃ cruelty. ḥāmās

לׅׄוּׅׄלֵׅ֗ׄאׅׄ unless lûlēʾ הֶ֭אֱמַנְתִּי I had believed ʾāman לִרְא֥וֹת to see rāʾâ בְּֽטוּב the goodness ṭûb יְהוָ֗ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ in the land ʾereṣ חַיִּֽים׃ of the living. ḥay

קַוֵּ֗ה Wait qāwâ אֶל on ʾēl יְה֫וָ֥ה the Lord: yĕhōwâ חֲ֭זַק be of good courage, ḥāzaq וְיַאֲמֵ֣ץ and he shall strengthen ʾāmaṣ לִבֶּ֑ךָ thine heart: lēb וְ֝קַוֵּ֗ה wait, qāwâ אֶל I say, on ʾēl יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord. yĕhōwâ
