אֹהֵ֣ב Whoso loveth ʾāhab מ֭וּסָר instruction mûsār אֹ֣הֵֽב loveth ʾāhab דָּ֑עַת knowledge: daʿat וְשׂוֹנֵ֖א but he that hateth śānēʾ תוֹכַ֣חַת reproof tôkēḥâ בָּֽעַר׃ brutish. baʿar

ט֗וֹב A good ṭôb יָפִ֣יק obtaineth pûq רָ֭צוֹן favour rāṣôn מֵיְהוָ֑ה of the Lord: yĕhōwâ וְאִ֖ישׁ but a man ʾîš מְזִמּ֣וֹת of wicked devices mĕzimmâ יַרְשִֽׁיעַ׃ will he condemn. rāšaʿ

לֹא shall not lōʾ יִכּ֣וֹן be established kûn אָדָ֣ם A man ʾādām בְּרֶ֑שַׁע by wickedness: rešaʿ וְשֹׁ֥רֶשׁ but the root šereš צַ֝דִּיקִ֗ים of the righteous ṣaddîq בַּל shall not bal יִמּֽוֹט׃ be moved. môṭ

אֵֽשֶׁת woman ʾiššâ חַ֭יִל A virtuous ḥayil עֲטֶ֣רֶת a crown ʿăṭārâ בַּעְלָ֑הּ to her husband: baʿal וּכְרָקָ֖ב as rottenness rāqāb בְּעַצְמוֹתָ֣יו in his bones. ʿeṣem מְבִישָֽׁה׃ but she that maketh ashamed bûš

מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת The thoughts maḥăšābâ צַדִּיקִ֣ים of the righteous ṣaddîq מִשְׁפָּ֑ט right: mišpāṭ תַּחְבֻּל֖וֹת the counsels taḥbulâ רְשָׁעִ֣ים of the wicked rāšāʿ מִרְמָֽה׃ deceit. mirmâ

דִּבְרֵ֣י The words dābār רְשָׁעִ֣ים of the wicked rāšāʿ אֱרָב to lie in wait ʾārab דָּ֑ם for blood: dām וּפִ֥י but the mouth pe יְ֝שָׁרִ֗ים of the upright yāšār יַצִּילֵֽם׃ shall deliver them. nāṣal

הָפ֣וֹךְ are overthrown, hāpak רְשָׁעִ֣ים The wicked rāšāʿ וְאֵינָ֑ם and not: ʾayin וּבֵ֖ית but the house bayit צַדִּיקִ֣ים of the righteous ṣaddîq יַעֲמֹֽד׃ shall stand. ʿāmad

לְֽפִי according pe שִׂ֭כְלוֹ to his wisdom: śekel יְהֻלַּל shall be commended hālal אִ֑ישׁ A man ʾîš וְנַעֲוֵה but he that is of a perverse ʿāwâ לֵ֝֗ב heart lēb יִהְיֶ֥ה shall be hāyâ לָבֽוּז׃ despised. bûz

ט֣וֹב better ṭôb נִ֭קְלֶה despised, qālâ וְעֶ֣בֶד and hath a servant, ʿebed ל֑וֹ מִ֝מְּתַכַּבֵּ֗ד than he that honoureth kābad וַחֲסַר himself, and lacketh ḥāsēr לָֽחֶם׃ bread. leḥem

יוֹדֵ֣עַ regardeth yādaʿ צַ֭דִּיק A righteous ṣaddîq נֶ֣פֶשׁ the life nepeš בְּהֶמְתּ֑וֹ of his beast: bĕhēmâ וְֽרַחֲמֵ֥י but the tender mercies raḥam רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים of the wicked rāšāʿ אַכְזָרִֽי׃ cruel. ʾakzārî

עֹבֵ֣ד He that tilleth ʿābad אַ֭דְמָתוֹ his land ʾădāmâ יִֽשְׂבַּֽע shall be satisfied śābaʿ לָ֑חֶם with bread: leḥem וּמְרַדֵּ֖ף but he that followeth rādap רֵיקִ֣ים vain rêq חֲסַר void ḥāsēr לֵֽב׃ of understanding. lēb

חָמַ֣ד desireth ḥāmad רָ֭שָׁע The wicked rāšāʿ מְצ֣וֹד the net māṣôd רָעִ֑ים of evil raʿ וְשֹׁ֖רֶשׁ but the root šereš צַדִּיקִ֣ים of the righteous ṣaddîq יִתֵּֽן׃ yieldeth nātan

בְּפֶ֣שַׁע by the transgression pešaʿ שְׂ֭פָתַיִם of lips: śāpâ מוֹקֵ֣שׁ is snared môqēš רָ֑ע The wicked raʿ וַיֵּצֵ֖א shall come out yāṣāʾ מִצָּרָ֣ה of trouble. ṣārâ צַדִּֽיק׃ but the just ṣaddîq

מִפְּרִ֣י by the fruit pĕrî פִי of mouth: pe אִ֭ישׁ A man ʾîš יִשְׂבַּע shall be satisfied śābaʿ ט֑וֹב with good ṭôb וּגְמ֥וּל and the recompence gĕmûl יְדֵי hands yād אָ֝דָ֗ם of a man's ʾādām יָשִׁ֥וב shall be rendered unto him. šûb לֽוֹ׃

דֶּ֣רֶךְ The way derek אֱ֭וִיל of a fool ʾĕwîl יָשָׁ֣ר right yāšār בְּעֵינָ֑יו in his own eyes: ʿayin וְשֹׁמֵ֖עַ but he that hearkeneth šāmaʿ לְעֵצָ֣ה unto counsel ʿēṣâ חָכָֽם׃ wise. ḥākām

אֱוִ֗יל A fool's ʾĕwîl בַּ֭יּוֹם is presently yôm יִוָּדַ֣ע known: yādaʿ כַּעְס֑וֹ wrath kaʿas וְכֹסֶ֖ה covereth kāsâ קָל֣וֹן shame. qālôn עָרֽוּם׃ but a prudent ʿārûm

יָפִ֣יחַ speaketh pûaḥ אֱ֭מוּנָה truth ʾĕmûnâ יַגִּ֣יד sheweth forth nāgad צֶ֑דֶק righteousness: ṣedeq וְעֵ֖ד witness ʿēd שְׁקָרִ֣ים but a false šeqer מִרְמָֽה׃ deceit. mirmâ

יֵ֣שׁ There is yēš בּ֭וֹטֶה that speaketh bāṭāʾ כְּמַדְקְר֣וֹת like the piercings madqārâ חָ֑רֶב of a sword: ḥereb וּלְשׁ֖וֹן but the tongue lāšôn חֲכָמִ֣ים of the wise ḥākām מַרְפֵּֽא׃ health. marpēʾ

שְֽׂפַת The lip śāpâ אֱ֭מֶת of truth ʾemet תִּכּ֣וֹן shall be established kûn לָעַ֑ד for ever: ʿad וְעַד but ʿad אַ֝רְגִּ֗יעָה but for a moment. rāgaʿ לְשׁ֣וֹן tongue lāšôn שָֽׁקֶר׃ a lying šeqer

מִ֭רְמָה Deceit mirmâ בְּלֶב in the heart lēb חֹ֣רְשֵׁי of them that imagine ḥāraš רָ֑ע evil: raʿ וּֽלְיֹעֲצֵ֖י but to the counsellers yāʿaṣ שָׁל֣וֹם of peace šālôm שִׂמְחָֽה׃ joy. śimḥâ

לֹא There shall no lōʾ יְאֻנֶּ֣ה happen ʾānâ לַצַּדִּ֣יק to the just: ṣaddîq כָּל kōl אָ֑וֶן evil ʾāwen וּ֝רְשָׁעִ֗ים but the wicked rāšāʿ מָ֣לְאוּ shall be filled mālēʾ רָֽע׃ with mischief. raʿ

תּוֹעֲבַ֣ת abomination tôʿēba יְ֭הוָה to the Lord: yĕhōwâ שִׂפְתֵי lips śāpâ שָׁ֑קֶר Lying šeqer וְעֹשֵׂ֖י but they that deal ʿāśâ אֱמוּנָ֣ה truly ʾĕmûnâ רְצוֹנֽוֹ׃ his delight. rāṣôn

אָדָ֣ם man ʾādām עָ֭רוּם A prudent ʿārûm כֹּ֣סֶה concealeth kāsâ דָּ֑עַת knowledge: daʿat וְלֵ֥ב but the heart lēb כְּ֝סִילִ֗ים of fools kĕsîl יִקְרָ֥א proclaimeth qārāʾ אִוֶּֽלֶת׃ foolishness. ʾiwwelet

יַד The hand yād חָרוּצִ֥ים of the diligent ḥărûṣ תִּמְשׁ֑וֹל shall bear rule: māšal וּ֝רְמִיָּ֗ה but the slothful rĕmiyyâ תִּהְיֶ֥ה shall be hāyâ לָמַֽס׃ under tribute. mas

דְּאָגָ֣ה Heaviness dĕʾāgâ בְלֶב in the heart lēb אִ֣ישׁ of man ʾîš יַשְׁחֶ֑נָּה maketh it stoop: šāḥâ וְדָבָ֖ר word dābār ט֣וֹב but a good ṭôb יְשַׂמְּחֶֽנָּה׃ maketh it glad. śāmaḥ

יָתֵ֣ר more excellent tûr מֵרֵעֵ֣הוּ than his neighbour: rēaʿ צַדִּ֑יק The righteous ṣaddîq וְדֶ֖רֶךְ but the way derek רְשָׁעִ֣ים of the wicked rāšāʿ תַּתְעֵֽם׃ seduceth them. tāʿâ

לֹא not lōʾ יַחֲרֹ֣ךְ roasteth ḥārak רְמִיָּ֣ה The slothful rĕmiyyâ צֵיד֑וֹ that which he took in hunting: ṣayid וְהוֹן but the substance hôn אָדָ֖ם man ʾādām יָקָ֣ר precious. yāqār חָרֽוּץ׃ of a diligent ḥărûṣ

בְּאֹֽרַח In the way ʾōraḥ צְדָקָ֥ה of righteousness ṣĕdāqâ חַיִּ֑ים life; ḥay וְדֶ֖רֶךְ derek נְתִיבָ֣ה and the pathway nātîb אַל no ʾal מָֽוֶת׃ death. māwet
