1ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಸನಾದ ಹೆರೋದನು ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರನ್ನು ಬಾಧಿಸುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಕೈ ಎತ್ತಿNow about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.
2ಯೋಹಾನನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಕೊಲ್ಲಿಸಿದನು.And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
3ಇದು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಗೆಯಾಗಿರುವದನ್ನು ಅವನು ನೋಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಪೇತ್ರನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಮುಂಗೊಂಡನು. (ಆಗ ಅವು ಹುಳಿಯಿಲ್ಲದ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯ ದಿವಸಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದವು).And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
4ಹೀಗೆ ಪಸ್ಕದ ತರುವಾಯ ಜನರ ಮುಂದೆ ತರಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ದಿಂದ ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಂಧಿಸಿ ಸೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿಸಿದನು.ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಾಯುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಚತುಷ್ಟದ ಸೈನಿಕರಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿದನು.And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
5ಪೇತ್ರನು ಸೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾಗ ಸಭೆಯವರು ಅವನಿಗಾಗಿ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಎಡೆಬಿಡದೆ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
6ಹೆರೋದನು ಪೇತ್ರನನ್ನು ಹೊರಗೆ ತರಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದ ಅದೇ ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನು ಎರಡು ಸರಪಣಿಗಳಿಂದ ಕಟ್ಟಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ಇಬ್ಬರು ಸೈನಿಕರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿದ್ರೆಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು; ಕಾವಲುಗಾರರು ಬಾಗಿಲ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಂತು ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಯು ತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
7ಆಗ ಇಗೋ, ಕರ್ತನ ದೂತನು ಪೇತ್ರನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವನಿದ್ದ ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳಕು ಹೊಳೆಯಿತು. ಅವನು ಪೇತ್ರನನ್ನು ಪಕ್ಕೆ ತಟ್ಟಿ ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಿ--ತಟ್ಟನೆ ಏಳು ಅಂದನು. ಆಗಲೇ ಅವನ ಕೈಗಳಿಂದ ಸರಪಣಿಗಳು ಕಳಚಿಬಿದ್ದವು.And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
8ಆ ದೂತನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನಡುಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೆರಗಳನ್ನು ಮೆಟ್ಟಿಕೋ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ಅವನು ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಆ ದೂತನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲಂಗಿ ಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬಾ ಅಂದನು.And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
9ಅವನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದು ಆ ದೂತನ ಹಿಂದೆಯೇ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಾ ಅವನ ಮೂಲಕವಾಗಿ ನಡೆದ ಸಂಗತಿ ನಿಜವಾದದ್ದೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಯದೆ ತಾನು ನೋಡಿದ್ದು ದರ್ಶನವೆಂದು ನೆನಸಿದನು.And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.
10ಅವನು ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ಎರಡನೆಯ ಕಾವಲುಗಳನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಕಬ್ಬಿಣದ ಬಾಗಿಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅದು ತನ್ನಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ತಾನೇ ಅವರಿಗೆ ತೆರೆಯಿತು. ಅವರು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದು ಒಂದು ಬೀದಿಯನ್ನು ದಾಟಿದರು; ಕೂಡಲೆ ಆ ದೂತನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು.When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.
11ಆಗ ಪೇತ್ರನು ಎಚ್ಚರವಾಗಿ-- ಕರ್ತನು ತನ್ನ ದೂತನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಹೆರೋದನ ಕೈಯಿಂದಲೂ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯ ಜನರು ನನಗೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲವುಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಿದನೆಂದು ನನಗೀಗ ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿದುಬಂದಿದೆ ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡನು.And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the LORD hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
12ತರುವಾಯ ಅವನು ಯೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಮಾರ್ಕನೆನಿಸಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಯೋಹಾನನ ತಾಯಿಯಾದ ಮರಿಯಳ ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದನು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕರು ಕೂಡಿಬಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.
13ಪೇತ್ರನು ದ್ವಾರದ ಬಾಗಿಲನ್ನು ತಟ್ಟಿದಾಗ ರೋದೆ ಎಂಬ ಒಬ್ಬ ಹುಡುಗಿಯು ಕೇಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಳು.And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.
14ಅವಳು ಪೇತ್ರನ ಧ್ವನಿಯನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದಾಗ ಸಂತೋಷದ ನಿಮಿತ್ತದಿಂದಲೇ ಬಾಗಿಲನ್ನು ತೆರೆಯದೆ ಒಳಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ--ಪೇತ್ರನು ಬಾಗಿಲ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಳು.And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.
15ಅವರು ಅವಳಿಗೆ--ನಿನಗೆ ಹುಚ್ಚು ಹಿಡಿದದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಆದರೆ ಅವಳು ತಾನು ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆಯೇ ಅದೆ ಎಂದು ದೃಢವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು--ಅವನು ಪೇತ್ರನ ದೂತನು ಅಂದರು.And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.
16ಅಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಪೇತ್ರನು ಇನ್ನೂ ತಟ್ಟುತ್ತಾ ಇರಲು ಅವರು ಬಾಗಿಲನ್ನು ತೆರೆದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಬೆರಗಾದರು.But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.
17ಅವನು ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರ್ರಿ ಎಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೈಸನ್ನೆ ಮಾಡಿ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಕರ್ತನು ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದ ರೀತಿಯನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿ ಈ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಯಾಕೋಬನಿಗೂ ಸಹೋದರ ರಿಗೂ ತಿಳಿಸಿರೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಬೇರೆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋದನು.But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.
18ಬೆಳಗಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಪೇತ್ರನು ಏನಾದ ನೆಂದು ಸೈನಿಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ಕಳವಳ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು.Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.
19ಹೆರೋದನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿಸಿ ಅವನು ಸಿಕ್ಕಲಿಲ್ಲವಾದದರಿಂದ ಕಾವಲುಗಾರರನ್ನು ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮರಣ ದಂಡನೆಯನ್ನು ವಿಧಿಸಿದನು. ಬಳಿಕ ಅವನು ಯೂದಾಯದಿಂದ ಕೈಸರೈಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದನು.And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode.
20ತೂರ್ ಸೀದೋನ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೆರೋದನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಕೋಪಿಸಿ ಕೊಂಡಿರುವದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಒಮ್ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅರಸನ ಮನೆಯ ಮೇಲಣ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯಾದ ಬ್ಲಾಸ್ತನನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅರಸನು ಸಮಾಧಾನವಾಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷೆಪಟ್ಟರು. ಯಾAnd Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king's country.
21ಗೊತ್ತು ಮಾಡಿದ ಒಂದು ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆರೋದನು ರಾಜವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿದವನಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೂತುಕೊಂಡು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸ ಮಾಡಿ ದನು.And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
22ಆಗ ಜನರು--ಇದು ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಸ್ವರವಲ್ಲ , ದೇವರ ಸ್ವರವೇ ಎಂದು ಅರ್ಭಟಿಸಿದರು.And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
23ಅವನು ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಮಹಿಮೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸದೆ ಹೋದದರಿಂದ ಕರ್ತನ ದೂತನು ಆ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲೇ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದನು; ಆಗ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹುಳಗಳು ತಿಂದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಪ್ರಾಣ ಬಿಟ್ಟನು.And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
24ಆದರೆ ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವು ಹಬ್ಬಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಾ ಬಂತು.But the word of God grew and multiplied.
25ಬಾರ್ನಬ ಸೌಲರು ತಮ್ಮ ಸೇವೆ ತೀರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಮಾರ್ಕನೆನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಯೋಹಾನ ನನ್ನು ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಿಂದ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದರು.And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.
