அப்பொழுது பிலாத்து: நீ என்னோடே பேசுகிறதில்லையா உன்னைச் சிலுவையில் அறைய எனக்கு அதிகாரமுண்டென்றும், உன்னை விடுதலைபண்ண எனக்கு அதிகாரமுண்டென்றும் உனக்குத் தெரியாதா என்றான்.

அப்பொழுது பிலாத்து: நீ என்னோடு பேசுகிறதில்லையா? உன்னைச் சிலுவையில் அறைய எனக்கு அதிகாரம் உண்டென்றும், உன்னை விடுதலை செய்ய எனக்கு அதிகாரம் உண்டென்றும் உனக்குத் தெரியாதா என்றான்.

அதனால் பிலாத்து, “நீ என்னோடு பேச மறுக்கவா செய்கிறாய்? நான் உன்னை விடுதலை செய்யக்கூடிய அதிகாரத்தில் இருப்பவன். இதனை நினைத்துக்கொள். உன்னைச் சிலுவையில் அறைந்து கொல்லும் அதிகாரமும் எனக்கு இருக்கிறது” என்றான்.
