  1. קְֽרָא Call qārāʾ נָ֭א now, nāʾ הֲיֵ֣שׁ if there be yēš עוֹנֶ֑ךָּ any that will answer ʿānâ וְאֶל thee; and to ʾēl מִ֖י which מִקְּדֹשִׁ֣ים of the saints qādôš תִּפְנֶֽה׃ wilt thou turn? pānâ
  2. כִּֽי For לֶ֭אֱוִיל the foolish man, ʾĕwîl יַֽהֲרָג killeth hārag כָּ֑עַשׂ wrath kaʿas וּ֝פֹתֶ֗ה the silly one. pātâ תָּמִ֥ית slayeth mût קִנְאָֽה׃ and envy qinʾâ
  3. אֲֽנִי I ʾănî רָ֭אִיתִי have seen rāʾâ אֱוִ֣יל the foolish ʾĕwîl מַשְׁרִ֑ישׁ taking root: šāraš וָֽאֶקּ֖וֹב I cursed nāqab נָוֵ֣הוּ his habitation. nāwe פִתְאֹֽם׃ but suddenly pitʾôm
  4. יִרְחֲק֣וּ are far rāḥaq בָנָ֣יו His children bēn מִיֶּ֑שַׁע from safety, yešaʿ וְיִֽדַּכְּא֥וּ and they are crushed dākāʾ בַ֝שַּׁ֗עַר in the gate, šaʿar וְאֵ֣ין neither ʾayin מַצִּֽיל׃ any to deliver nāṣal
  5. אֲשֶׁ֤ר Whose ʾăšer קְצִיר֨וֹ׀ harvest qāṣîr רָ֘עֵ֤ב the hungry rāʿēb יֹאכֵ֗ל eateth up, ʾākal וְאֶֽל it even out of ʾēl מִצִּנִּ֥ים the thorns, ṣēn יִקָּחֵ֑הוּ and taketh lāqaḥ וְשָׁאַ֖ף swalloweth up šāʾap צַמִּ֣ים and the robber ṣammîm חֵילָֽם׃ their substance. ḥayil
  6. כִּ֤י׀ Although לֹֽא lōʾ יֵצֵ֣א cometh not forth yāṣāʾ מֵֽעָפָ֣ר of the dust, ʿāpār אָ֑וֶן affliction ʾāwen וּ֝מֵֽאֲדָמָ֗ה of the ground; ʾădāmâ לֹֽא neither lōʾ יִצְמַ֥ח spring out ṣāmaḥ עָמָֽל׃ doth trouble ʿāmāl
  7. כִּֽי Yet אָ֭דָם man ʾādām לְעָמָ֣ל unto trouble, ʿāmāl יוּלָּ֑ד is born yālad וּבְנֵי as the sparks bēn רֶ֝֗שֶׁף rešep יַגְבִּ֥יהוּ upward. gābah עֽוּף׃ fly ʿûp
  8. אוּלָ֗ם would seek ʾûlām אֲ֭נִי I ʾănî אֶדְרֹ֣שׁ dāraš אֶל unto ʾēl אֵ֑ל God, ʾēl וְאֶל and unto ʾēl אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים God ʾĕlōhîm אָשִׂ֥ים would I commit śûm דִּבְרָתִֽי׃ my cause: dibrâ
  9. עֹשֶׂ֣ה Which doeth ʿāśâ גְ֭דֹלוֹת great things gādôl וְאֵ֣ין and unsearchable; ʾayin חֵ֑קֶר ḥēqer נִ֝פְלָא֗וֹת marvellous things pālāʾ עַד without ʿad אֵ֥ין ʾayin מִסְפָּֽר׃ number: mispār
  10. הַנֹּתֵ֣ן Who giveth nātan מָ֭טָר rain māṭar עַל ʿal פְּנֵי upon pānîm אָ֑רֶץ the earth, ʾereṣ וְשֹׁ֥לֵֽחַ and sendeth šālaḥ מַ֝יִם waters mayim עַל ʿal פְּנֵ֥י upon pānîm חוּצֽוֹת׃ the fields: ḥûṣ
  11. לָשׂ֣וּם To set up śûm שְׁפָלִ֣ים those that be low; šāpāl לְמָר֑וֹם on high mārôm וְ֝קֹֽדְרִ֗ים that those which mourn qādar שָׂ֣גְבוּ may be exalted śāgab יֶֽשַׁע׃ to safety. yešaʿ
  12. מֵ֭פֵר He disappointeth pārar מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת the devices maḥăšābâ עֲרוּמִ֑ים of the crafty, ʿārûm וְֽלֹא cannot lōʾ תַעֲשֶׂ֥ינָה perform ʿāśâ יְ֝דֵיהֶ֗ם so that their hands yād תּוּשִׁיָּֽה׃ enterprise. tûšiyyâ
  13. לֹכֵ֣ד He taketh lākad חֲכָמִ֣ים the wise ḥākām בְּעָרְמָ֑ם in their own craftiness: ʿōrem וַֽעֲצַ֖ת and the counsel ʿēṣâ נִפְתָּלִ֣ים of the froward pātal נִמְהָֽרָה׃ is carried headlong. māhar
  14. יוֹמָ֥ם in the daytime, yômām יְפַגְּשׁוּ They meet pāgaš חֹ֑שֶׁךְ with darkness ḥōšek וְ֝כַלַּ֗יְלָה as in the night. layil יְֽמַשְׁשׁ֥וּ and grope māšaš בַֽצָּהֳרָֽיִם׃ in the noonday ṣōhar
  15. וַיֹּ֣שַׁע But he saveth yāšaʿ מֵ֭חֶרֶב from the sword, ḥereb מִפִּיהֶ֑ם from their mouth, pe וּמִיַּ֖ד and from the hand yād חָזָ֣ק of the mighty. ḥāzāq אֶבְיֽוֹן׃ the poor ʾebyôn
  16. וַתְּהִ֣י hath hāyâ לַדַּ֣ל So the poor dal תִּקְוָ֑ה hope, tiqwâ וְ֝עֹלָ֗תָה and iniquity ʿewel קָ֣פְצָה stoppeth qāpaṣ פִּֽיהָ׃ her mouth. pe
  17. הִנֵּ֤ה Behold, hinnē אַשְׁרֵ֣י happy ʾešer אֱ֭נוֹשׁ the man ʾĕnôš יֽוֹכִחֶ֣נּוּ correcteth: yākaḥ אֱל֑וֹהַּ whom God ʾĕlôah וּמוּסַ֥ר thou the chastening mûsār שַׁ֝דַּ֗י of the Almighty: šadday אַל not ʾal תִּמְאָֽס׃ therefore despise māʾas
  18. כִּ֤י For ה֣וּא he hûʾ יַכְאִ֣יב maketh sore, kāʾab וְיֶחְבָּ֑שׁ and bindeth up: ḥābaš יִ֝מְחַ֗ץ he woundeth, māḥaṣ וְיָדָ֥ו and his hands yād תִּרְפֶּֽינָה׃ make whole. rāpāʾ
  19. בְּשֵׁ֣שׁ thee in six šēš צָ֭רוֹת troubles: ṣārâ יַצִּילֶ֑ךָּ He shall deliver nāṣal וּבְשֶׁ֓בַע׀ yea, in seven šebaʿ לֹֽא there shall no lōʾ יִגַּ֖ע touch thee. nāgaʿ בְּךָ֣ רָֽע׃ evil raʿ
  20. בְּֽ֭רָעָב In famine rāʿāb פָּֽדְךָ֣ he shall redeem pādâ מִמָּ֑וֶת thee from death: māwet וּ֝בְמִלְחָמָ֗ה and in war milḥāmâ מִ֣ידֵי from the power yād חָֽרֶב׃ of the sword. ḥereb
  21. בְּשׁ֣וֹט from the scourge šôṭ לָ֭שׁוֹן of the tongue: lāšôn תֵּֽחָבֵ֑א Thou shalt be hid ḥābāʾ וְֽלֹא neither lōʾ תִירָ֥א shalt thou be afraid yārēʾ מִ֝שֹּׁ֗ד of destruction šōd כִּ֣י when יָבֽוֹא׃ it cometh. bôʾ
  22. לְשֹׁ֣ד At destruction šōd וּלְכָפָ֣ן and famine kāpān תִּשְׂחָ֑ק thou shalt laugh: śāḥaq וּֽמֵחַיַּ֥ת of the beasts ḥay הָ֝אָ֗רֶץ of the earth. ʾereṣ אַל neither ʾal תִּירָֽא׃ shalt thou be afraid yārēʾ
  23. כִּ֤י For עִם with ʿim אַבְנֵ֣י the stones ʾeben הַשָּׂדֶ֣ה of the field: śāde בְרִיתֶ֑ךָ thou shalt be in league bĕrît וְחַיַּ֥ת and the beasts ḥay הַ֝שָּׂדֶ֗ה of the field śāde הָשְׁלְמָה shall be at peace with thee. šālam לָֽךְ׃
  24. וְֽ֭יָדַעְתָּ And thou shalt know yādaʿ כִּֽי שָׁל֣וֹם in peace; šālôm אָֽהֳלֶ֑ךָ that thy tabernacle ʾōhel וּֽפָקַדְתָּ֥ and thou shalt visit pāqad נָֽ֝וְךָ֗ thy habitation, nāwe וְלֹ֣א lōʾ תֶֽחֱטָֽא׃ and shalt not sin. ḥāṭāʾ
  25. וְֽ֭יָדַעְתָּ Thou shalt know yādaʿ כִּֽי also that רַ֣ב great, rab זַרְעֶ֑ךָ thy seed zeraʿ וְ֝צֶֽאֱצָאֶ֗יךָ and thine offspring ṣeʾĕṣāʾ כְּעֵ֣שֶׂב as the grass ʿeśeb הָאָֽרֶץ׃ of the earth. ʾereṣ
  26. תָּב֣וֹא Thou shalt come bôʾ בְכֶ֣לַח in a full age, kelaḥ אֱלֵי to ʾēl קָ֑בֶר grave qeber כַּֽעֲל֖וֹת cometh in ʿālâ גָּדִ֣ישׁ like as a shock of corn gādîš בְּעִתּֽוֹ׃ in his season. ʿēt
  27. הִנֵּה Lo hinnē זֹ֭את this, zōt חֲקַרְנ֥וּהָ we have searched ḥāqar כֶּֽן it, so kēn הִ֑יא it hûʾ שְׁ֝מָעֶ֗נָּה hear šāmaʿ וְאַתָּ֥ה thou for thy good. ʾattâ דַֽע it, and know yādaʿ לָֽךְ׃
