  1. וַיַּ֖עַן answered ʿānâ יְהוָ֥ה Moreover the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶת ʾēt אִיּ֗וֹב Job, ʾiyyôb וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ and said, ʾāmar
  2. הֲ֭רֹב Shall he that contendeth rîb עִם with ʿim שַׁדַּ֣י the Almighty šadday יִסּ֑וֹר instruct yissôr מוֹכִ֖יחַ he that reproveth yākaḥ אֱל֣וֹהַּ God, ʾĕlôah יַעֲנֶֽנָּה׃ let him answer it. ʿānâ
  3. וַיַּ֖עַן answered ʿānâ אִיּ֥וֹב Then Job ʾiyyôb אֶת ʾēt יְהוָ֗ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ and said, ʾāmar
  4. הֵ֣ן Behold, hēn קַ֭לֹּתִי I am vile; qālal מָ֣ה what אֲשִׁיבֶ֑ךָּ shall I answer šûb יָ֝דִ֗י mine hand yād שַׂ֣מְתִּי thee? I will lay śûm לְמוֹ upon lĕmô פִֽי׃ my mouth. pe
  5. אַחַ֣ת Once ʾeḥād דִּ֭בַּרְתִּי have I spoken; dābar וְלֹ֣א but I will not lōʾ אֶֽעֱנֶ֑ה answer: ʿānâ וּ֝שְׁתַּ֗יִם yea, twice; šĕnayim וְלֹ֣א lōʾ אוֹסִֽיף׃ but I will proceed no further. yāsap
  6. וַיַּֽעַן Then answered ʿānâ יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶת unto ʾēt אִ֭יּוֹב Job ʾiyyôb מִ֥נ׀ out of the whirlwind, min סְעָרָ֗ה saʿar וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ and said, ʾāmar
  7. אֱזָר Gird up ʾāzar נָ֣א now nāʾ כְגֶ֣בֶר like a man: geber חֲלָצֶ֑יךָ thy loins ḥālāṣ אֶ֝שְׁאָלְךָ֗ I will demand šāʾal וְהוֹדִיעֵֽנִי׃ of thee, and declare thou unto me. yādaʿ
  8. הַ֭אַף Wilt thou also ʾap תָּפֵ֣ר disannul pārar מִשְׁפָּטִ֑י my judgment? mišpāṭ תַּ֝רְשִׁיעֵ֗נִי wilt thou condemn rāšaʿ לְמַ֣עַן me, that maʿan תִּצְדָּֽק׃ thou mayest be righteous? ṣādaq
  9. וְאִם ʾim זְר֖וֹעַ Hast thou an arm zĕrôaʿ כָּאֵ֥ל׀ like God? ʾēl לָ֑ךְ וּ֝בְק֗וֹל with a voice qôl כָּמֹ֥הוּ like him? kĕmô תַרְעֵֽם׃ or canst thou thunder rāʿam
  10. עֲדֵ֥ה Deck ʿādâ נָ֣א thyself now nāʾ גָֽא֣וֹן majesty gāʾôn וָגֹ֑בַהּ and excellency; gōbah וְה֖וֹד thyself with glory hôd וְהָדָ֣ר and beauty. hādār תִּלְבָּֽשׁ׃ and array lābaš
  11. הָ֭פֵץ Cast abroad pûṣ עֶבְר֣וֹת the rage ʿebrâ אַפֶּ֑ךָ of thy wrath: ʾap וּרְאֵ֥ה and behold rāʾâ כָל every one kōl גֵּ֝אֶ֗ה proud, gēʾe וְהַשְׁפִּילֵֽהוּ׃ and abase him. šāpēl
  12. רְאֵ֣ה Look on rāʾâ כָל every one kōl גֵּ֭אֶה proud, gēʾe הַכְנִיעֵ֑הוּ bring him low; kānaʿ וַהֲדֹ֖ךְ and tread down hādak רְשָׁעִ֣ים the wicked rāšāʿ תַּחְתָּֽם׃ in their place. taḥat
  13. טָמְנֵ֣ם Hide ṭāman בֶּעָפָ֣ר them in the dust ʿāpār יָ֑חַד together; yaḥad פְּ֝נֵיהֶ֗ם their faces pānîm חֲבֹ֣שׁ bind ḥābaš בַּטָּמֽוּן׃ in secret. ṭāman
  14. וְגַם also gam אֲנִ֥י Then will I ʾănî אוֹדֶ֑ךָּ confess yādâ כִּֽי unto thee that תוֹשִׁ֖עַ can save thee. yāšaʿ לְךָ֣ יְמִינֶֽךָ׃ thine own right hand yāmîn
  15. הִנֵּה Behold hinnē נָ֣א now nāʾ בְ֭הֵמוֹת behemoth, bĕhēmôt אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer עָשִׂ֣יתִי I made ʿāśâ עִמָּ֑ךְ with ʿim חָ֝צִ֗יר grass ḥāṣîr כַּבָּקָ֥ר as an ox. bāqār יֹאכֵֽל׃ thee; he eateth ʾākal
  16. הִנֵּה Lo hinnē נָ֣א now, nāʾ כֹח֣וֹ his strength kōaḥ בְמָתְנָ֑יו in his loins, mōten וְ֝אוֹנ֗וֹ and his force ʾôn בִּשְׁרִירֵ֥י in the navel šārîr בִטְנֽוֹ׃ of his belly. beṭen
  17. יַחְפֹּ֣ץ He moveth ḥāpēṣ זְנָב֣וֹ his tail zānāb כְמוֹ like kĕmô אָ֑רֶז a cedar: ʾerez גִּידֵ֖י the sinews gîd פַחֲדָ֣ו of his stones paḥad יְשֹׂרָֽגוּ׃ are wrapped together. śārag
  18. עֲ֭צָמָיו His bones ʿeṣem אֲפִיקֵ֣י strong pieces ʾāpîq נְחוּשָׁ֑ה of brass; nĕḥûšâ גְּ֝רָמָ֗יו his bones gerem כִּמְטִ֥יל like bars mĕṭîl בַּרְזֶֽל׃ of iron. barzel
  19. ה֭וּא He hûʾ רֵאשִׁ֣ית the chief rēʾšît דַּרְכֵי of the ways derek אֵ֑ל of God: ʾēl הָ֝עֹשׂוֹ he that made ʿāśâ יַגֵּ֥שׁ to approach nāgaš חַרְבּֽוֹ׃ him can make his sword ḥereb

  21. תַּֽחַת under taḥat צֶאֱלִ֥ים the shady trees, ṣeʾel יִשְׁכָּ֑ב He lieth šākab בְּסֵ֖תֶר in the covert sēter קָנֶ֣ה of the reed, qāne וּבִצָּֽה׃ and fens. biṣṣâ
  22. יְסֻכֻּ֣הוּ cover sākak צֶאֱלִ֣ים The shady trees ṣeʾel צִֽלֲל֑וֹ him their shadow; ṣēlel יְ֝סֻבּ֗וּהוּ compass him about. sābab עַרְבֵי the willows ʿārāb נָֽחַל׃ of the brook naḥal
  23. הֵ֤ן Behold, hēn יַעֲשֹׁ֣ק he drinketh up ʿāšaq נָ֭הָר a river, nāhār לֹ֣א not: lōʾ יַחְפּ֑וֹז hasteth ḥāpaz יִבְטַ֓ח׀ he trusteth bāṭaḥ כִּֽי that יָגִ֖יחַ he can draw up gîaḥ יַרְדֵּ֣ן Jordan yardēn אֶל into ʾēl פִּֽיהוּ׃ his mouth. pe
