ר֛וּחַ The Spirit rûaḥ אֲדֹנָ֥י of the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִ֖ה God yĕhōwi עָלָ֑י upon ʿal יַ֡עַן me; because yaʿan מָשַׁח֩ hath anointed māšaḥ יְהוָ֨ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֹתִ֜י ʾēt לְבַשֵּׂ֣ר me to preach good tidings bāśar עֲנָוִ֗ים unto the meek; ʿānāw שְׁלָחַ֙נִי֙ he hath sent šālaḥ לַחֲבֹ֣שׁ me to bind up ḥābaš לְנִשְׁבְּרֵי the brokenhearted, šābar לֵ֔ב lēb לִקְרֹ֤א to proclaim qārāʾ לִשְׁבוּיִם֙ to the captives, šābâ דְּר֔וֹר liberty dĕrôr וְלַאֲסוּרִ֖ים to bound; ʾāsar פְּקַח קֽוֹחַ׃ and the opening of the prison pĕqaḥ qôaḥ

לִקְרֹ֤א To proclaim qārāʾ שְׁנַת year šāne רָצוֹן֙ the acceptable rāṣôn לַֽיהוָ֔ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ וְי֥וֹם and the day yôm נָקָ֖ם of vengeance nāqām לֵאלֹהֵ֑ינוּ of our God; ʾĕlōhîm לְנַחֵ֖ם to comfort nāḥam כָּל all kōl אֲבֵלִֽים׃ that mourn; ʾābēl

לָשׂ֣וּם׀ To appoint śûm לַאֲבֵלֵ֣י unto them that mourn ʾābēl צִיּ֗וֹן in Zion, ṣiyyôn לָתֵת֩ to give nātan לָהֶ֨ם פְּאֵ֜ר unto them beauty pĕʾēr תַּ֣חַת for taḥat אֵ֗פֶר ashes, ʾēper שֶׁ֤מֶן the oil šemen שָׂשׂוֹן֙ of joy śāśôn תַּ֣חַת for taḥat אֵ֔בֶל mourning, ʾēbel מַעֲטֵ֣ה the garment maʿăṭe תְהִלָּ֔ה of praise tĕhillâ תַּ֖חַת for taḥat ר֣וּחַ the spirit rûaḥ כֵּהָ֑ה of heaviness; kēhe וְקֹרָ֤א that they might be called qārāʾ לָהֶם֙ אֵילֵ֣י trees ʾayil הַצֶּ֔דֶק of righteousness, ṣedeq מַטַּ֥ע the planting maṭṭāʿ יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ לְהִתְפָּאֵֽר׃ that he might be glorified. pāʾar

וּבָנוּ֙ And they shall build bānâ חָרְב֣וֹת wastes, ḥorbâ עוֹלָ֔ם the old ʿôlām שֹׁמְמ֥וֹת desolations, šāmēm רִֽאשֹׁנִ֖ים the former riʾšôn יְקוֹמֵ֑מוּ they shall raise up qûm וְחִדְּשׁוּ֙ and they shall repair ḥādaš עָ֣רֵי cities, ʿîr חֹ֔רֶב the waste ḥōreb שֹׁמְמ֖וֹת the desolations šāmēm דּ֥וֹר of many dôr וָדֽוֹר׃ generations. dôr

וְעָמְד֣וּ shall stand ʿāmad זָרִ֔ים And strangers zûr וְרָע֖וּ and feed rāʿâ צֹאנְכֶ֑ם your flocks, ṣōn וּבְנֵ֣י and the sons bēn נֵכָ֔ר of the alien nēkār אִכָּרֵיכֶ֖ם your plowmen ʾikkār וְכֹרְמֵיכֶֽם׃ and your vinedressers. kōrēm

וְאַתֶּ֗ם But ye ʾattâ כֹּהֲנֵ֤י the Priests kōhēn יְהוָה֙ of the Lord: yĕhōwâ תִּקָּרֵ֔אוּ shall be named qārāʾ מְשָׁרְתֵ֣י you the Ministers šārat אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ of our God: ʾĕlōhîm יֵאָמֵ֖ר shall call ʾāmar לָכֶ֑ם חֵ֤יל the riches ḥayil גּוֹיִם֙ of the Gentiles, gôy תֹּאכֵ֔לוּ ye shall eat ʾākal וּבִכְבוֹדָ֖ם and in their glory kābôd תִּתְיַמָּֽרוּ׃ shall ye boast yourselves. yāmar

תַּ֤חַת For taḥat בָּשְׁתְּכֶם֙ your shame bōšet מִשְׁנֶ֔ה double; mišne וּכְלִמָּ֖ה and confusion kĕlimmâ יָרֹ֣נּוּ they shall rejoice rānan חֶלְקָ֑ם in their portion: ḥēleq לָכֵ֤ן therefore kēn בְּאַרְצָם֙ in their land ʾereṣ מִשְׁנֶ֣ה the double: mišne יִירָ֔שׁוּ they shall possess yāraš שִׂמְחַ֥ת joy śimḥâ עוֹלָ֖ם everlasting ʿôlām תִּהְיֶ֥ה shall be unto them. hāyâ לָהֶֽם׃

כִּ֣י For kî אֲנִ֤י I ʾănî יְהוָה֙ the Lord yĕhōwâ אֹהֵ֣ב love ʾāhab מִשְׁפָּ֔ט judgment, mišpāṭ שֹׂנֵ֥א I hate śānēʾ גָזֵ֖ל robbery gāzēl בְּעוֹלָ֑ה for burnt offering; ʿōlâ וְנָתַתִּ֤י and I will direct nātan פְעֻלָּתָם֙ their work pĕʿullâ בֶּאֱמֶ֔ת in truth, ʾemet וּבְרִ֥ית covenant with them. bĕrît עוֹלָ֖ם an everlasting ʿôlām אֶכְר֥וֹת and I will make kārat לָהֶֽם׃

וְנוֹדַ֤ע shall be known yādaʿ בַּגּוֹיִם֙ among the Gentiles, gôy זַרְעָ֔ם And their seed zeraʿ וְצֶאֱצָאֵיהֶ֖ם and their offspring ṣeʾĕṣāʾ בְּת֣וֹךְ among tāwek הָעַמִּ֑ים the people: ʿam כָּל all kōl רֹֽאֵיהֶם֙ that see rāʾâ יַכִּיר֔וּם them shall acknowledge nākar כִּ֛י them, that kî הֵ֥ם they hēm זֶ֖רַע the seed zeraʿ בֵּרַ֥ךְ hath blessed. bārak יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord yĕhōwâ

שׂ֧וֹשׂ I will greatly śûś אָשִׂ֣ישׂ rejoice śûś בַּֽיהוָ֗ה in the Lord, yĕhōwâ תָּגֵ֤ל shall be joyful gîl נַפְשִׁי֙ my soul nepeš בֵּֽאלֹהַ֔י in my God; ʾĕlōhîm כִּ֤י for kî הִלְבִּישַׁ֙נִי֙ he hath clothed lābaš בִּגְדֵי me with the garments beged יֶ֔שַׁע of salvation, yešaʿ מְעִ֥יל me with the robe mĕʿîl צְדָקָ֖ה of righteousness, ṣĕdāqâ יְעָטָ֑נִי he hath covered yāʿaṭ כֶּֽחָתָן֙ as a bridegroom ḥātān יְכַהֵ֣ן decketh kāhan פְּאֵ֔ר with ornaments, pĕʾēr וְכַכַּלָּ֖ה and as a bride kallâ תַּעְדֶּ֥ה adorneth ʿādâ כֵלֶֽיהָ׃ with her jewels. kĕlî

כִּ֤י For kî כָאָ֙רֶץ֙ as the earth ʾereṣ תּוֹצִ֣יא bringeth forth yāṣāʾ צִמְחָ֔הּ her bud, ṣemaḥ וּכְגַנָּ֖ה and as the garden gannâ זֵרוּעֶ֣יהָ causeth the things that are sown zērûaʿ תַצְמִ֑יחַ in it to spring forth; ṣāmaḥ כֵּ֣ן׀ so kēn אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִ֗ה God yĕhōwâ יַצְמִ֤יחַ to spring forth ṣāmaḥ צְדָקָה֙ will cause righteousness ṣĕdāqâ וּתְהִלָּ֔ה and praise tĕhillâ נֶ֖גֶד before neged כָּל all kōl הַגּוֹיִֽם׃ the nations. gôy
