  1. שִׁמְע֥וּ Hearken šāmaʿ אֵלַ֛י to ʾēl רֹ֥דְפֵי me, ye that follow after rādap צֶ֖דֶק righteousness, ṣedeq מְבַקְשֵׁ֣י ye that seek bāqaš יְהוָ֑ה the Lord: yĕhōwâ הַבִּ֙יטוּ֙ look nābaṭ אֶל unto ʾēl צ֣וּר the rock ṣûr חֻצַּבְתֶּ֔ם ye are hewn, ḥāṣab וְאֶל and to ʾēl מַקֶּ֥בֶת the hole maqqebet בּ֖וֹר of the pit bôr נֻקַּרְתֶּֽם׃ ye are digged. nāqar
  2. הַבִּ֙יטוּ֙ Look nābaṭ אֶל unto ʾēl אַבְרָהָ֣ם Abraham ʾabrāhām אֲבִיכֶ֔ם your father, ʾāb וְאֶל and unto ʾēl שָׂרָ֖ה Sarah śārâ תְּחוֹלֶלְכֶ֑ם bare ḥûl כִּי you: for אֶחָ֣ד him alone, ʾeḥād קְרָאתִ֔יו I called qārāʾ וַאֲבָרְכֵ֖הוּ and blessed bārak וְאַרְבֵּֽהוּ׃ him, and increased him. rābâ
  3. כִּֽי For נִחַ֨ם shall comfort nāḥam יְהוָ֜ה the Lord yĕhōwâ צִיּ֗וֹן Zion: ṣiyyôn נִחַם֙ he will comfort nāḥam כָּל all kōl חָרְבֹתֶ֔יהָ her waste places; ḥorbâ וַיָּ֤שֶׂם and he will make śûm מִדְבָּרָהּ֙ her wilderness midbār כְּעֵ֔דֶן like Eden, ʿēden וְעַרְבָתָ֖הּ and her desert ʿărābâ כְּגַן like the garden gan יְהוָ֑ה of the Lord; yĕhōwâ שָׂשׂ֤וֹן joy śāśôn וְשִׂמְחָה֙ and gladness śimḥâ יִמָּ֣צֵא shall be found māṣāʾ בָ֔הּ תּוֹדָ֖ה therein, thanksgiving, tôdâ וְק֥וֹל and the voice qôl זִמְרָֽה׃ of melody. zimrâ
  4. הַקְשִׁ֤יבוּ Hearken qāšab אֵלַי֙ unto ʾēl עַמִּ֔י me, my people; ʿam וּלְאוּמִּ֖י me, O my nation: lĕʾōm אֵלַ֣י unto ʾēl הַאֲזִ֑ינוּ and give ear ʾāzan כִּ֤י for תוֹרָה֙ a law tôrâ מֵאִתִּ֣י from ʾēt תֵצֵ֔א shall proceed yāṣāʾ וּמִשְׁפָּטִ֔י me, and I will make my judgment mišpāṭ לְא֥וֹר for a light ʾôr עַמִּ֖ים of the people. ʿam אַרְגִּֽיעַ׃ to rest rāgaʿ
  5. קָר֤וֹב near; qārôb צִדְקִי֙ My righteousness ṣedeq יָצָ֣א is gone forth, yāṣāʾ יִשְׁעִ֔י my salvation yešaʿ וּזְרֹעַ֖י and mine arms zĕrôaʿ עַמִּ֣ים the people; ʿam יִשְׁפֹּ֑טוּ shall judge šāpaṭ אֵלַי֙ upon ʾēl אִיִּ֣ים the isles ʾî יְקַוּ֔וּ shall wait qāwâ וְאֶל me, and on ʾēl זְרֹעִ֖י mine arm zĕrôaʿ יְיַחֵלֽוּן׃ shall they trust. yāḥal
  6. שְׂאוּ֩ Lift up nāśāʾ לַשָּׁמַ֨יִם to the heavens, šāmayim עֵֽינֵיכֶ֜ם your eyes ʿayin וְֽהַבִּ֧יטוּ and look nābaṭ אֶל upon ʾēl הָאָ֣רֶץ the earth ʾereṣ מִתַּ֗חַת beneath: taḥat כִּֽי for שָׁמַ֜יִם the heavens šāmayim כֶּעָשָׁ֤ן like smoke, ʿāšān נִמְלָ֙חוּ֙ shall vanish away mālaḥ וְהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ and the earth ʾereṣ כַּבֶּ֣גֶד like a garment, beged תִּבְלֶ֔ה shall wax old bālâ וְיֹשְׁבֶ֖יהָ and they that dwell yāšab כְּמוֹ in like manner: kĕmô כֵ֣ן kēn יְמוּת֑וּן therein shall die mût וִישֽׁוּעָתִי֙ but my salvation yĕšûʿâ לְעוֹלָ֣ם for ever, ʿôlām תִּֽהְיֶ֔ה shall be hāyâ וְצִדְקָתִ֖י and my righteousness ṣĕdāqâ לֹ֥א shall not lōʾ תֵחָֽת׃ be abolished. ḥātat
  7. שִׁמְע֤וּ Hearken šāmaʿ אֵלַי֙ unto ʾēl יֹ֣דְעֵי me, ye that know yādaʿ צֶ֔דֶק righteousness, ṣedeq עַ֖ם the people ʿam תּוֹרָתִ֣י my law; tôrâ בְלִבָּ֑ם in whose heart lēb אַל ye not ʾal תִּֽירְאוּ֙ fear yārēʾ חֶרְפַּ֣ת the reproach ḥerpâ אֱנ֔וֹשׁ of men, ʾĕnôš וּמִגִּדֻּפֹתָ֖ם of their revilings. giddûp אַל neither ʾal תֵּחָֽתּוּ׃ be ye afraid ḥātat
  8. כִּ֤י For כַבֶּ֙גֶד֙ like a garment, beged יֹאכְלֵ֣ם shall eat them up ʾākal עָ֔שׁ the moth ʿoš וְכַצֶּ֖מֶר them like wool: ṣemer יֹאכְלֵ֣ם shall eat ʾākal סָ֑ס and the worm sās וְצִדְקָתִי֙ but my righteousness ṣĕdāqâ לְעוֹלָ֣ם for ever, ʿôlām תִּֽהְיֶ֔ה shall be hāyâ וִישׁוּעָתִ֖י and my salvation yĕšûʿâ לְד֥וֹר from generation dôr דּוֹרִֽים׃ to generation. dôr
  9. עוּרִ֨י Awake, ʿûr עוּרִ֤י awake, ʿûr לִבְשִׁי put on lābaš עֹז֙ strength, ʿōz זְר֣וֹעַ O arm zĕrôaʿ יְהוָ֔ה of the Lord; yĕhōwâ ע֚וּרִי awake, ʿûr כִּ֣ימֵי days, yôm קֶ֔דֶם as in the ancient qedem דֹּר֖וֹת in the generations dôr עוֹלָמִ֑ים of old. ʿôlām הֲל֥וֹא not lōʾ אַתְּ thou ʾattâ הִ֛יא it hûʾ הַמַּחְצֶ֥בֶת that hath cut ḥāṣab רַ֖הַב Rahab, rahab מְחוֹלֶ֥לֶת wounded ḥālal תַּנִּֽין׃ the dragon? tannîn
  10. הֲל֤וֹא not lōʾ אַתְּ thou ʾattâ הִיא֙ it hûʾ הַמַּחֲרֶ֣בֶת which hath dried ḥārab יָ֔ם the sea, yām מֵ֖י the waters mayim תְּה֣וֹם deep; tĕhôm רַבָּ֑ה of the great rab הַשָּׂ֙מָה֙ that hath made śûm מַֽעֲמַקֵּי the depths maʿămāq יָ֔ם of the sea yām דֶּ֖רֶךְ a way derek לַעֲבֹ֥ר to pass over? ʿābar גְּאוּלִֽים׃ for the ransomed gāʾal
  11. וּפְדוּיֵ֨י Therefore the redeemed pādâ יְהוָ֜ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ יְשׁוּב֗וּן shall return, šûb וּבָ֤אוּ and come bôʾ צִיּוֹן֙ unto Zion; ṣiyyôn בְּרִנָּ֔ה with singing rinnâ וְשִׂמְחַ֥ת joy śimḥâ עוֹלָ֖ם and everlasting ʿôlām עַל upon ʿal רֹאשָׁ֑ם their head: rōš שָׂשׂ֤וֹן gladness śāśôn וְשִׂמְחָה֙ and joy; śimḥâ יַשִּׂיג֔וּן they shall obtain nāśag נָ֖סוּ shall flee away. nûs יָג֥וֹן sorrow yāgôn וַאֲנָחָֽה׃ and mourning ʾănāḥâ
  12. אָנֹכִ֧י I, ʾānōkî אָנֹכִ֛י I, ʾānōkî ה֖וּא he hûʾ מְנַחֶמְכֶ֑ם that comforteth nāḥam מִֽי you: who אַ֤תְּ thou, ʾattâ וַתִּֽירְאִי֙ that thou shouldest be afraid yārēʾ מֵאֱנ֣וֹשׁ of a man ʾĕnôš יָמ֔וּת shall die, mût וּמִבֶּן and of the son bēn אָדָ֖ם of man ʾādām חָצִ֥יר grass; ḥāṣîr יִנָּתֵֽן׃ shall be made nātan
  13. וַתִּשְׁכַּ֞ח And forgettest šākaḥ יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ עֹשֶׂ֗ךָ thy maker, ʿāśâ נוֹטֶ֣ה that hath stretched forth nāṭâ שָׁמַיִם֮ the heavens, šāmayim וְיֹסֵ֣ד and laid the foundations yāsad אָרֶץ֒ of the earth; ʾereṣ וַתְּפַחֵ֨ד and hast feared pāḥad תָּמִ֜יד continually tāmîd כָּל every kōl הַיּ֗וֹם day yôm מִפְּנֵי֙ because pānîm חֲמַ֣ת of the fury ḥēmâ הַמֵּצִ֔יק of the oppressor, ṣûq כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר as if ʾăšer כּוֹנֵ֖ן he were ready kûn לְהַשְׁחִ֑ית to destroy? šāḥat וְאַיֵּ֖ה and where ʾayyē חֲמַ֥ת the fury ḥēmâ הַמֵּצִֽיק׃ of the oppressor? ṣûq
  14. מִהַ֥ר hasteneth māhar צֹעֶ֖ה The captive exile ṣāʿâ לְהִפָּתֵ֑חַ that he may be loosed, pātaḥ וְלֹא and that he should not lōʾ יָמ֣וּת die mût לַשַּׁ֔חַת in the pit, šaḥat וְלֹ֥א nor lōʾ יֶחְסַ֖ר should fail. ḥāsēr לַחְמֽוֹ׃ that his bread leḥem
  15. וְאָֽנֹכִי֙ But I ʾānōkî יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ thy God, ʾĕlōhîm רֹגַ֣ע that divided rāgaʿ הַיָּ֔ם the sea, yām וַיֶּהֱמ֖וּ roared: hāmâ גַּלָּ֑יו whose waves gal יְהוָ֥ה The Lord yĕhōwâ צְבָא֖וֹת of hosts ṣābāʾ שְׁמֽוֹ׃ his name. šēm
  16. וָאָשִׂ֤ם And I have put śûm דְּבָרַי֙ my words dābār בְּפִ֔יךָ in thy mouth, pe וּבְצֵ֥ל thee in the shadow ṣēl יָדִ֖י of mine hand, yād כִּסִּיתִ֑יךָ and I have covered kāsâ לִנְטֹ֤עַ that I may plant nāṭaʿ שָׁמַ֙יִם֙ the heavens, šāmayim וְלִיסֹ֣ד and lay the foundations yāsad אָ֔רֶץ of the earth, ʾereṣ וְלֵאמֹ֥ר and say ʾāmar לְצִיּ֖וֹן unto Zion, ṣiyyôn עַמִּי my people. ʿam אָֽתָּה׃ Thou ʾattâ
  17. הִתְעוֹרְרִ֣י Awake, ʿûr הִֽתְעוֹרְרִ֗י awake, ʿûr ק֚וּמִי stand up, qûm יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם O Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer שָׁתִ֛ית hast drunk šātâ מִיַּ֥ד at the hand yād יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶת ʾēt כּ֣וֹס the cup kôs חֲמָת֑וֹ of his fury; ḥēmâ אֶת ʾēt קֻבַּ֜עַת the dregs qubbaʿat כּ֧וֹס of the cup kôs הַתַּרְעֵלָ֛ה of trembling, tarʿēlâ שָׁתִ֖ית thou hast drunken šātâ מָצִֽית׃ wrung out. māṣâ
  18. אֵין none ʾayin מְנַהֵ֣ל to guide nāhal לָ֔הּ מִכָּל her among all kōl בָּנִ֖ים the sons bēn יָלָ֑דָה she hath brought forth; yālad וְאֵ֤ין neither ʾayin מַחֲזִיק֙ that taketh ḥāzaq בְּיָדָ֔הּ her by the hand yād מִכָּל of all kōl בָּנִ֖ים the sons bēn גִּדֵּֽלָה׃ she hath brought up. gādal
  19. שְׁתַּ֤יִם two šĕnayim הֵ֙נָּה֙ These hēnnâ קֹֽרְאֹתַ֔יִךְ are come qārāʾ מִ֖י unto thee; who יָנ֣וּד shall be sorry nûd לָ֑ךְ הַשֹּׁ֧ד for thee? desolation, šōd וְהַשֶּׁ֛בֶר and destruction, šeber וְהָרָעָ֥ב and the famine, rāʿāb וְהַחֶ֖רֶב and the sword: ḥereb מִ֥י by whom אֲנַחֲמֵֽךְ׃ shall I comfort thee? nāḥam
  20. בָּנַ֜יִךְ Thy sons bēn עֻלְּפ֥וּ have fainted, ʿālap שָׁכְב֛וּ they lie šākab בְּרֹ֥אשׁ at the head rōš כָּל of all kōl חוּצ֖וֹת the streets, ḥûṣ כְּת֣וֹא as a wild bull tĕʾô מִכְמָ֑ר in a net: makmār הַֽמְלֵאִ֥ים they are full mālēʾ חֲמַת of the fury ḥēmâ יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ גַּעֲרַ֥ת the rebuke gĕʿārâ אֱלֹהָֽיִךְ׃ of thy God. ʾĕlōhîm
  21. לָכֵ֛ן Therefore kēn שִׁמְעִי hear šāmaʿ נָ֥א now nāʾ זֹ֖את this, zōt עֲנִיָּ֑ה thou afflicted, ʿānî וּשְׁכֻרַ֖ת and drunken, šākar וְלֹ֥א but not lōʾ מִיָּֽיִן׃ with wine: yayin
  22. כֹּֽה Thus אָמַ֞ר saith ʾāmar אֲדֹנַ֣יִךְ thy Lord ʾādôn יְהוָ֗ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ וֵאלֹהַ֙יִךְ֙ and thy God ʾĕlōhîm יָרִ֣יב pleadeth rîb עַמּ֔וֹ the cause of his people, ʿam הִנֵּ֥ה Behold, hinnē לָקַ֛חְתִּי I have taken out lāqaḥ מִיָּדֵ֖ךְ of thine hand yād אֶת ʾēt כּ֣וֹס the cup kôs הַתַּרְעֵלָ֑ה of trembling, tarʿēlâ אֶת ʾēt קֻבַּ֙עַת֙ the dregs qubbaʿat כּ֣וֹס of the cup kôs חֲמָתִ֔י of my fury; ḥēmâ לֹא thou shalt no lōʾ תוֹסִ֥יפִי more yāsap לִשְׁתּוֹתָ֖הּ drink it again: šātâ עֽוֹד׃ ʿôd
  23. וְשַׂמְתִּ֙יהָ֙ But I will put śûm בְּיַד it into the hand yād מוֹגַ֔יִךְ of them that afflict yāgâ אֲשֶׁר thee; which ʾăšer אָמְר֥וּ have said ʾāmar לְנַפְשֵׁ֖ךְ to thy soul, nepeš שְׁחִ֣י Bow down, šāḥâ וְנַעֲבֹ֑רָה that we may go over: ʿābar וַתָּשִׂ֤ימִי and thou hast laid śûm כָאָ֙רֶץ֙ as the ground, ʾereṣ גֵּוֵ֔ךְ thy body gēw וְכַח֖וּץ and as the street, ḥûṣ לַעֹבְרִֽים׃ to them that went over. ʿābar
