  1. עַל upon ʿal מִשְׁמַרְתִּ֣י my watch, mišmeret אֶעֱמֹ֔דָה I will stand ʿāmad וְאֶֽתְיַצְּבָ֖ה and set yāṣab עַל me upon ʿal מָצ֑וֹר the tower, māṣôr וַאֲצַפֶּ֗ה and will watch ṣāpâ לִרְאוֹת֙ to see rāʾâ מַה what יְדַבֶּר he will say dābar בִּ֔י וּמָ֥ה unto me, and what אָשִׁ֖יב I shall answer šûb עַל when ʿal תּוֹכַחְתִּֽי׃ I am reproved. tôkēḥâ
  2. וַיַּעֲנֵ֤נִי answered ʿānâ יְהוָה֙ And the Lord yĕhōwâ וַיֹּ֔אמֶר me, and said, ʾāmar כְּתֹ֣ב Write kātab חָז֔וֹן the vision, ḥāzôn וּבָאֵ֖ר and make plain bāʾar עַל upon ʿal הַלֻּח֑וֹת tables, lûaḥ לְמַ֥עַן that maʿan יָר֖וּץ he may run rûṣ ק֥וֹרֵא that readeth it. qārāʾ בֽוֹ׃
  3. כִּ֣י For ע֤וֹד yet ʿôd חָזוֹן֙ the vision ḥāzôn לַמּוֹעֵ֔ד for an appointed time, môʿēd וְיָפֵ֥חַ it shall speak, pûaḥ לַקֵּ֖ץ but at the end qēṣ וְלֹ֣א and not lōʾ יְכַזֵּ֑ב lie: kāzab אִם though ʾim יִתְמַהְמָהּ֙ it tarry, māhah חַכֵּה wait ḥākâ ל֔וֹ כִּֽי for it; because בֹ֥א it will surely bôʾ יָבֹ֖א come, bôʾ לֹ֥א it will not lōʾ יְאַחֵֽר׃ tarry. ʾāḥar
  4. הִנֵּ֣ה Behold, hinnē עֻפְּלָ֔ה is lifted up ʿāpal לֹא lōʾ יָשְׁרָ֥ה is not upright yāšar נַפְשׁ֖וֹ his soul nepeš בּ֑וֹ וְצַדִּ֖יק in him: but the just ṣaddîq בֶּאֱמוּנָת֥וֹ by his faith. ʾĕmûnâ יִחְיֶֽה׃ shall live ḥāyâ
  5. וְאַף֙ Yea ʾap כִּֽי also, because הַיַּ֣יִן by wine, yayin בּוֹגֵ֔ד he transgresseth bāgad גֶּ֥בֶר man, geber יָהִ֖יר a proud yāhîr וְלֹ֣א neither lōʾ יִנְוֶ֑ה keepeth at home, nāwâ אֲשֶׁר֩ who ʾăšer הִרְחִ֨יב enlargeth rāḥab כִּשְׁא֜וֹל as hell, šĕʾôl נַפְשׁ֗וֹ his desire nepeš וְה֤וּא hûʾ כַמָּ֙וֶת֙ and as death, māwet וְלֹ֣א and cannot lōʾ יִשְׂבָּ֔ע be satisfied, śābaʿ וַיֶּאֱסֹ֤ף but gathereth ʾāsap אֵלָיו֙ unto ʾēl כָּל him all kōl הַגּוֹיִ֔ם nations, gôy וַיִּקְבֹּ֥ץ and heapeth qābaṣ אֵלָ֖יו unto ʾēl כָּל him all kōl הָעַמִּֽים׃ people: ʿam
  6. הֲלוֹא Shall not lōʾ אֵ֣לֶּה these ʾēlle כֻלָּ֗ם all kōl עָלָיו֙ against ʿal מָשָׁ֣ל a parable māšāl יִשָּׂ֔אוּ take up nāśāʾ וּמְלִיצָ֖ה him, and a taunting mĕlîṣâ חִיד֣וֹת proverb ḥîdâ ל֑וֹ וְיֹאמַ֗ר against him, and say, ʾāmar ה֚וֹי Woe hôy הַמַּרְבֶּ֣ה to him that increaseth rābâ לֹּא not lōʾ ל֔וֹ עַד his! how long? ʿad מָתַ֕י mātay וּמַכְבִּ֥יד and to him that ladeth kābad עָלָ֖יו ʿal עַבְטִֽיט׃ himself with thick clay! ʿabṭîṭ
  7. הֲל֣וֹא Shall they not lōʾ פֶ֗תַע suddenly petaʿ יָק֙וּמוּ֙ rise up qûm נֹשְׁכֶ֔יךָ that shall bite nāšak וְיִקְצ֖וּ thee, and awake qûṣ מְזַעְזְעֶ֑יךָ that shall vex thee, zûaʿ וְהָיִ֥יתָ and thou shalt be hāyâ לִמְשִׁסּ֖וֹת for booties unto them? mĕšissâ לָֽמוֹ׃
  8. כִּֽי Because אַתָּ֤ה thou ʾattâ שַׁלּ֙וֹתָ֙ hast spoiled šālal גּוֹיִ֣ם nations, gôy רַבִּ֔ים many rab יְשָׁלּ֖וּךָ shall spoil šālal כָּל all kōl יֶ֣תֶר the remnant yeter עַמִּ֑ים of the people ʿam מִדְּמֵ֤י blood, dām אָדָם֙ thee; because of men's ʾādām וַחֲמַס and the violence ḥāmās אֶ֔רֶץ of the land, ʾereṣ קִרְיָ֖ה of the city, qiryâ וְכָל and of all kōl יֹ֥שְׁבֵי that dwell therein. yāšab בָֽהּ׃
  9. ה֗וֹי Woe hôy בֹּצֵ֛עַ to him that coveteth bāṣaʿ בֶּ֥צַע covetousness beṣaʿ רָ֖ע an evil raʿ לְבֵית֑וֹ to his house, bayit לָשׂ֤וּם that he may set śûm בַּמָּרוֹם֙ on high, mārôm קִנּ֔וֹ his nest qēn לְהִנָּצֵ֖ל that he may be delivered nāṣal מִכַּף from the power kap רָֽע׃ of evil! raʿ
  10. יָעַ֥צְתָּ Thou hast consulted yāʿaṣ בֹּ֖שֶׁת shame bōšet לְבֵיתֶ֑ךָ to thy house bayit קְצוֹת by cutting off qāṣâ עַמִּ֥ים people, ʿam רַבִּ֖ים many rab וְחוֹטֵ֥א and hast sinned ḥāṭāʾ נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃ thy soul. nepeš
  11. כִּי For אֶ֖בֶן the stone ʾeben מִקִּ֣יר of the wall, qîr תִּזְעָ֑ק shall cry out zāʿaq וְכָפִ֖יס and the beam out kāpîs מֵעֵ֥ץ of the timber ʿēṣ יַעֲנֶֽנָּה׃ shall answer it. ʿānâ
  12. ה֛וֹי Woe hôy בֹּנֶ֥ה to him that buildeth bānâ עִ֖יר a town ʿîr בְּדָמִ֑ים with blood, dām וְכוֹנֵ֥ן and stablisheth kûn קִרְיָ֖ה a city qiryâ בְּעַוְלָֽה׃ by iniquity! ʿewel
  13. הֲל֣וֹא not lōʾ הִנֵּ֔ה Behold, hinnē מֵאֵ֖ת of ʾēt יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ צְבָא֑וֹת of hosts ṣābāʾ וְיִֽיגְע֤וּ shall labour yāgaʿ עַמִּים֙ that the people ʿam בְּדֵי in the very day אֵ֔שׁ fire, ʾēš וּלְאֻמִּ֖ים and the people lĕʾōm בְּדֵי themselves for very day רִ֥יק vanity? rîq יִעָֽפוּ׃ shall weary yāʿap
  14. כִּ֚י For תִּמָּלֵ֣א shall be filled mālēʾ הָאָ֔רֶץ the earth ʾereṣ לָדַ֖עַת with the knowledge yādaʿ אֶת ʾēt כְּב֣וֹד of the glory kābôd יְהוָ֑ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ כַּמַּ֖יִם as the waters mayim יְכַסּ֥וּ cover kāsâ עַל ʿal יָֽם׃ the sea. yām
  15. ה֚וֹי Woe hôy מַשְׁקֵ֣ה drink, šāqâ רֵעֵ֔הוּ unto him that giveth his neighbour rēaʿ מְסַפֵּ֥חַ that puttest sāpaḥ חֲמָתְךָ֖ thy bottle ḥēmet וְאַ֣ף also, ʾap שַׁכֵּ֑ר to and makest drunken šākar לְמַ֥עַן that maʿan הַבִּ֖יט thou mayest look nābaṭ עַל on ʿal מְעוֹרֵיהֶֽם׃ their nakedness! māʿôr
  16. שָׂבַ֤עְתָּ Thou art filled śābaʿ קָלוֹן֙ with shame qālôn מִכָּב֔וֹד for glory: kābôd שְׁתֵ֥ה drink šātâ גַם also, gam אַ֖תָּה thou ʾattâ וְהֵֽעָרֵ֑ל and let thy foreskin be uncovered: ʿārēl תִּסּ֣וֹב shall be turned sābab עָלֶ֗יךָ unto ʿal כּ֚וֹס the cup kôs יְמִ֣ין right hand yāmîn יְהוָ֔ה of the Lord's yĕhōwâ וְקִיקָל֖וֹן thee, and shameful spewing qîqālôn עַל on ʿal כְּבוֹדֶֽךָ׃ thy glory. kābôd
  17. כִּ֣י For חֲמַ֤ס the violence ḥāmās לְבָנוֹן֙ of Lebanon lĕbānôn יְכַסֶּ֔ךָּ shall cover kāsâ וְשֹׁ֥ד thee, and the spoil šōd בְּהֵמ֖וֹת of beasts, bĕhēmâ יְחִיתַ֑ן made them afraid, ḥātat מִדְּמֵ֤י blood, dām אָדָם֙ because of men's ʾādām וַחֲמַס and for the violence ḥāmās אֶ֔רֶץ of the land, ʾereṣ קִרְיָ֖ה of the city, qiryâ וְכָל and of all kōl יֹ֥שְׁבֵי that dwell therein. yāšab בָֽהּ׃
  18. מָֽה What הוֹעִ֣יל profiteth yāʿal פֶּ֗סֶל the graven image pesel כִּ֤י that פְסָלוֹ֙ thereof hath graven pāsal יֹֽצְר֔וֹ of his work yēṣer מַסֵּכָ֖ה it; the molten image, massēkâ וּמ֣וֹרֶה and a teacher yārâ שָּׁ֑קֶר of lies, šeqer כִּ֣י that בָטַ֞ח trusteth bāṭaḥ יֹצֵ֤ר the maker yāṣar יִצְרוֹ֙ the maker yāṣar עָלָ֔יו therein, ʿal לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת to make ʿāśâ אֱלִילִ֥ים idols? ʾĕlîl אִלְּמִֽים׃ dumb ʾillēm
  19. ה֣וֹי Woe hôy אֹמֵ֤ר unto him that saith ʾāmar לָעֵץ֙ to the wood, ʿēṣ הָקִ֔יצָה Awake; qûṣ ע֖וּרִי Arise, ʿûr לְאֶ֣בֶן stone, ʾeben דּוּמָ֑ם to the dumb dûmām ה֣וּא it hûʾ יוֹרֶ֔ה shall teach! yārâ הִנֵּה Behold, hinnē ה֗וּא it hûʾ תָּפוּשׂ֙ laid over tāpaś זָהָ֣ב with gold zāhāb וָכֶ֔סֶף and silver, kesep וְכָל at all kōl ר֖וּחַ breath rûaḥ אֵ֥ין and no ʾayin בְּקִרְבּֽוֹ׃ in the midst of it. qereb
  20. וַֽיהוָ֖ה But the Lord yĕhōwâ בְּהֵיכַ֣ל temple: hêkāl קָדְשׁ֑וֹ in his holy qōdeš הַ֥ס keep silence hāsâ מִפָּנָ֖יו before him. pānîm כָּל let all kōl הָאָֽרֶץ׃ the earth ʾereṣ
