וַיָּ֣שֶׁב Then he brought me back šûb אֹתִ֗י ʾēt דֶּ֣רֶךְ the way derek שַׁ֤עַר of the gate šaʿar הַמִּקְדָּשׁ֙ sanctuary miqdoš הַֽחִיצ֔וֹן of the outward ḥîṣôn הַפֹּנֶ֖ה which looketh pānâ קָדִ֑ים toward the east; qādîm וְה֖וּא and it hûʾ סָגֽוּר׃ shut. sāgar

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר Then said ʾāmar אֵלַ֜י unto ʾēl יְהוָ֗ה the Lord yĕhōwâ הַשַּׁ֣עַר gate šaʿar הַזֶּה֩ me; This ze סָג֨וּר shut, sāgar יִהְיֶ֜ה shall be hāyâ לֹ֣א it shall not lōʾ יִפָּתֵ֗חַ be opened, pātaḥ וְאִישׁ֙ man ʾîš לֹא and no lōʾ יָ֣בֹא shall enter in bôʾ ב֔וֹ כִּ֛י by it; because kî יְהוָ֥ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵֽי the God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl בָּ֣א hath entered in bôʾ ב֑וֹ וְהָיָ֖ה by it, therefore it shall be hāyâ סָגֽוּר׃ shut. sāgar

אֶֽת ʾēt הַנָּשִׂ֗יא for the prince; nāśîʾ נָ֥שִׂיא the prince, nāśîʾ ה֛וּא he hûʾ יֵֽשֶׁב shall sit yāšab בּ֥וֹ לֶֽאֱכָול in it to eat ʾākal לֶ֖חֶם bread leḥem לִפְנֵ֣י before pānîm יְהוָ֑ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ מִדֶּ֨רֶךְ by the way derek אוּלָ֤ם of the porch ʾûlām הַשַּׁ֙עַר֙ of gate, šaʿar יָב֔וֹא he shall enter bôʾ וּמִדַּרְכּ֖וֹ by the way of the same. derek יֵצֵֽא׃ and shall go out yāṣāʾ

וַיְבִיאֵ֜נִי Then brought bôʾ דֶּֽרֶךְ he me the way derek שַׁ֣עַר gate šaʿar הַצָּפוֹן֮ of the north ṣāpôn אֶל ʾēl פְּנֵ֣י before pānîm הַבַּיִת֒ the house: bayit וָאֵ֕רֶא and I looked, rāʾâ וְהִנֵּ֛ה and, behold, hinnē מָלֵ֥א filled mālēʾ כְבוֹד the glory kābôd יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶת ʾēt בֵּ֣ית the house bayit יְהוָ֑ה of the Lord: yĕhōwâ וָאֶפֹּ֖ל and I fell nāpal אֶל upon ʾēl פָּנָֽי׃ my face. pānîm

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said ʾāmar אֵלַ֜י unto ʾēl יְהוָֹ֗ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ בֶּן me, Son bēn אָדָ֡ם of man, ʾādām שִׂ֣ים mark śûm לִבְּךָ֩ well, lēb וּרְאֵ֨ה and behold rāʾâ בְעֵינֶ֜יךָ with thine eyes, ʿayin וּבְאָזְנֶ֣יךָ with thine ears ʾōzen שְּׁמָ֗ע and hear šāmaʿ אֵ֣ת ʾēt כָּל all kōl אֲשֶׁ֤ר that ʾăšer אֲנִי֙ I ʾănî מְדַבֵּ֣ר say dābar אֹתָ֔ךְ ʾēt לְכָל unto thee concerning all kōl חֻקּ֥וֹת the ordinances ḥuqqâ בֵּית of the house bayit יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ וּלְכָל and all kōl תּֽוֹרֹתָ֑ו the laws tôrâ וְשַׂמְתָּ֤ thereof; and mark śûm לִבְּךָ֙ well lēb לִמְב֣וֹא the entering in mābôʾ הַבַּ֔יִת of the house, bayit בְּכֹ֖ל with every kōl מוֹצָאֵ֥י going forth môṣāʾ הַמִּקְדָּֽשׁ׃ of the sanctuary. miqdoš

וְאָמַרְתָּ֤ And thou shalt say ʾāmar אֶל to ʾēl מֶ֙רִי֙ the rebellious, mĕrî אֶל to ʾēl בֵּ֣ית the house bayit יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl כֹּ֥ה Thus kō אָמַ֖ר saith ʾāmar אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִ֑ה God; yĕhōwi רַב let it suffice rab לָכֶ֛ם מִֽכָּל you of all kōl תּוֹעֲב֥וֹתֵיכֶ֖ם your abominations, tôʿēba בֵּ֥ית O ye house bayit יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel, yiśrāʾēl

בַּהֲבִיאֲכֶ֣ם In that ye have brought bôʾ בְּנֵֽי strangers, bēn נֵכָ֗ר nēkār עַרְלֵי uncircumcised ʿārēl לֵב֙ in heart, lēb וְעַרְלֵ֣י and uncircumcised ʿārēl בָשָׂ֔ר in flesh, bāśār לִהְי֥וֹת to be hāyâ בְּמִקְדָּשִׁ֖י in my sanctuary, miqdoš לְחַלְּל֣וֹ to pollute ḥālal אֶת it, ʾēt בֵּיתִ֑י my house, bayit בְּהַקְרִֽיבְכֶ֤ם when ye offer qārab אֶת ʾēt לַחְמִי֙ my bread, leḥem חֵ֣לֶב the fat ḥeleb וָדָ֔ם and the blood, dām וַיָּפֵ֙רוּ֙ and they have broken pārar אֶת ʾēt בְּרִיתִ֔י my covenant bĕrît אֶ֖ל because of ʾēl כָּל all kōl תּוֹעֲבוֹתֵיכֶֽם׃ your abominations. tôʿēba

וְלֹ֥א And ye have not lōʾ שְׁמַרְתֶּ֖ם kept šāmar מִשְׁמֶ֣רֶת the charge mišmeret קָדָשָׁ֑י of mine holy things: qōdeš וַתְּשִׂימ֗וּן but ye have set śûm לְשֹׁמְרֵ֧י keepers šāmar מִשְׁמַרְתִּ֛י of my charge mišmeret בְּמִקְדָּשִׁ֖י in my sanctuary for yourselves. miqdoš לָכֶֽם׃

כֹּה Thus kō אָמַר֮ saith ʾāmar אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִה֒ God; yĕhōwâ כָּל kōl בֶּן stranger, bēn נֵכָ֗ר nēkār עֶ֤רֶל uncircumcised ʿārēl לֵב֙ in heart, lēb וְעֶ֣רֶל nor uncircumcised ʿārēl בָּשָׂ֔ר in flesh, bāśār לֹ֥א No lōʾ יָב֖וֹא shall enter bôʾ אֶל into ʾēl מִקְדָּשִׁ֑י my sanctuary, miqdoš לְכָל of any kōl בֶּן stranger bēn נֵכָ֔ר nēkār אֲשֶׁ֕ר that ʾăšer בְּת֖וֹךְ among tāwek בְּנֵ֥י the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel. yiśrāʾēl

כִּ֣י And kî אִם ʾim הַלְוִיִּ֗ם the Levites lēwiyyî אֲשֶׁ֤ר that ʾăšer רָֽחֲקוּ֙ are gone away far rāḥaq מֵֽעָלַ֔י from ʿal בִּתְע֤וֹת went astray, tāʿâ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ me, when Israel yiśrāʾēl אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer תָּע֣וּ went astray away tāʿâ מֵֽעָלַ֔י from ʿal אַחֲרֵ֖י me after ʾaḥar גִּלּֽוּלֵיהֶ֑ם their idols; gillûl וְנָשְׂא֖וּ they shall even bear nāśāʾ עֲוֹנָֽם׃ their iniquity. ʿāwōn

וְהָי֤וּ Yet they shall be hāyâ בְמִקְדָּשִׁי֙ in my sanctuary, miqdoš מְשָׁ֣רְתִ֔ים ministers šārat פְּקֻדּוֹת֙ charge pĕquddâ אֶל at ʾēl שַׁעֲרֵ֣י the gates šaʿar הַבַּ֔יִת of the house, bayit וּֽמְשָׁרְתִ֖ים and ministering šārat אֶת ʾēt הַבָּ֑יִת to the house: bayit הֵ֠מָּה they hēm יִשְׁחֲט֨וּ shall slay šāḥaṭ אֶת ʾēt הָעוֹלָ֤ה the burnt offering ʿōlâ וְאֶת ʾēt הַזֶּ֙בַח֙ and the sacrifice zebaḥ לָעָ֔ם for the people, ʿam וְהֵ֛מָּה and they hēm יַעַמְד֥וּ shall stand ʿāmad לִפְנֵיהֶ֖ם before pānîm לְשָֽׁרְתָֽם׃ them to minister unto them. šārat

יַ֗עַן Because yaʿan אֲשֶׁ֨ר ʾăšer יְשָׁרְת֤וּ they ministered unto šārat אוֹתָם֙ ʾēt לִפְנֵ֣י them before pānîm גִלּֽוּלֵיהֶ֔ם their idols, gillûl וְהָי֥וּ and caused hāyâ לְבֵֽית the house bayit יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl לְמִכְשׁ֣וֹל to fall mikšôl עָוֹ֑ן into iniquity; ʿāwōn עַל therefore ʿal כֵּן֩ kēn נָשָׂ֨אתִי have I lifted up nāśāʾ יָדִ֜י mine hand yād עֲלֵיהֶ֗ם against ʿal נְאֻם֙ them, saith nĕʾum אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִ֔ה God, yĕhōwi וְנָשְׂא֖וּ and they shall bear nāśāʾ עֲוֹנָֽם׃ their iniquity. ʿāwōn

וְלֹֽא And they shall not lōʾ יִגְּשׁ֤וּ come near nāgaš אֵלַי֙ unto ʾēl לְכַהֵ֣ן me, to do the office of a priest kāhan לִ֔י וְלָגֶ֙שֶׁת֙ unto me, nor to come near nāgaš עַל to ʿal כָּל any kōl קָ֣דָשַׁ֔י of my holy things, qōdeš אֶל in ʾēl קָדְשֵׁ֖י the most holy qōdeš הַקְּדָשִׁ֑ים qōdeš וְנָֽשְׂאוּ֙ but they shall bear nāśāʾ כְּלִמָּתָ֔ם their shame, kĕlimmâ וְתוֹעֲבוֹתָ֖ם and their abominations tôʿēba אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer עָשֽׂוּ׃ they have committed. ʿāśâ

וְנָתַתִּ֣י But I will make nātan אוֹתָ֔ם ʾēt שֹׁמְרֵ֖י them keepers šāmar מִשְׁמֶ֣רֶת of the charge mišmeret הַבָּ֑יִת of the house, bayit לְכֹל֙ for all kōl עֲבֹ֣דָת֔וֹ the service ʿăbōdâ וּלְכֹ֛ל thereof, and for all kōl אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer יֵעָשֶׂ֖ה shall be done therein. ʿāśâ בּֽוֹ׃

וְהַכֹּהֲנִ֨ים But the priests kōhēn הַלְוִיִּ֜ם the Levites, lēwiyyî בְּנֵ֣י the sons bēn צָד֗וֹק of Zadok, ṣādôq אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ʾăšer שָׁמְר֜וּ kept šāmar אֶת ʾēt מִשְׁמֶ֤רֶת the charge mišmeret מִקְדָּשִׁי֙ of my sanctuary miqdoš בִּתְע֤וֹת went astray tāʿâ בְּנֵֽי when the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel yiśrāʾēl מֵֽעָלַ֔י from ʿal הֵ֛מָּה me, they hēm יִקְרְב֥וּ shall come near qārab אֵלַ֖י to ʾēl לְשָֽׁרְתֵ֑נִי me to minister šārat וְעָמְד֣וּ unto me, and they shall stand ʿāmad לְפָנַ֗י before pānîm לְהַקְרִ֥יב me to offer qārab לִי֙ חֵ֣לֶב unto me the fat ḥeleb וָדָ֔ם and the blood, dām נְאֻ֖ם saith nĕʾum אֲדֹנָ֥י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִֽה׃ God: yĕhōwi

הֵ֜מָּה They hēm יָבֹ֣אוּ shall enter bôʾ אֶל into ʾēl מִקְדָּשִׁ֗י my sanctuary, miqdoš וְהֵ֛מָּה and they hēm יִקְרְב֥וּ shall come near qārab אֶל to ʾēl שֻׁלְחָנִ֖י my table, šulḥān לְשָׁרְתֵ֑נִי to minister šārat וְשָׁמְר֖וּ unto me, and they shall keep šāmar אֶת ʾēt מִשְׁמַרְתִּֽי׃ my charge. mišmeret

וְהָיָ֗ה And it shall come to pass, hāyâ בְּבוֹאָם֙ when they enter in bôʾ אֶֽל at ʾēl שַׁעֲרֵי֙ the gates šaʿar הֶחָצֵ֣ר court, ḥāṣēr הַפְּנִימִ֔ית of the inner pĕnîmî בִּגְדֵ֥י garments; beged פִשְׁתִּ֖ים linen pište יִלְבָּ֑שׁוּ they shall be clothed with lābaš וְלֹֽא and no lōʾ יַעֲלֶ֤ה shall come ʿālâ עֲלֵיהֶם֙ upon ʿal צֶ֔מֶר wool ṣemer בְּשָֽׁרְתָ֗ם them, whiles they minister šārat בְּשַׁעֲרֵ֛י in the gates šaʿar הֶחָצֵ֥ר court, ḥāṣēr הַפְּנִימִ֖ית of the inner pĕnîmî וָבָֽיְתָה׃ and within. bayit

פַּאֲרֵ֤י bonnets pĕʾēr פִשְׁתִּים֙ linen pište יִהְי֣וּ They shall have hāyâ עַל upon ʿal רֹאשָׁ֔ם their heads, rōš וּמִכְנְסֵ֣י breeches miknās פִשְׁתִּ֔ים linen pište יִהְי֖וּ and shall have hāyâ עַל upon ʿal מָתְנֵיהֶ֑ם their loins; mōten לֹ֥א they shall not lōʾ יַחְגְּר֖וּ gird ḥāgar בַּיָּֽזַע׃ with any thing that causeth sweat. yezaʿ

וּ֠בְצֵאתָם And when they go forth yāṣāʾ אֶל into ʾēl הֶחָצֵ֨ר court, ḥāṣēr הַחִיצוֹנָ֜ה the utter ḥîṣôn אֶל into ʾēl הֶחָצֵ֣ר court ḥāṣēr הַחִיצוֹנָה֮ the utter ḥîṣôn אֶל to ʾēl הָעָם֒ the people, ʿam יִפְשְׁט֣וּ they shall put off pāšaṭ אֶת ʾēt בִּגְדֵיהֶ֗ם their garments beged אֲשֶׁר wherein ʾăšer הֵ֙מָּה֙ they hēm מְשָׁרְתִ֣ם ministered, šārat בָּ֔ם וְהִנִּ֥יחוּ and lay yānaḥ אוֹתָ֖ם ʾēt בְּלִֽשְׁכֹ֣ת chambers, liškâ הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ them in the holy qōdeš וְלָֽבְשׁוּ֙ and they shall put on lābaš בְּגָדִ֣ים garments; beged אֲחֵרִ֔ים other ʾaḥēr וְלֹֽא and they shall not lōʾ יְקַדְּשׁ֥וּ sanctify qādaš אֶת ʾēt הָעָ֖ם the people ʿam בְּבִגְדֵיהֶֽם׃ with their garments. beged

וְרֹאשָׁם֙ their heads, rōš לֹ֣א Neither lōʾ יְגַלֵּ֔חוּ shall they shave gālaḥ וּפֶ֖רַע suffer their locks peraʿ לֹ֣א nor lōʾ יְשַׁלֵּ֑חוּ to grow long; šālaḥ כָּס֥וֹם they shall only kāsam יִכְסְמ֖וּ poll kāsam אֶת ʾēt רָאשֵׁיהֶֽם׃ their heads. rōš

וְיַ֥יִן wine, yayin לֹֽא Neither lōʾ יִשְׁתּ֖וּ drink šātâ כָּל shall any kōl כֹּהֵ֑ן priest kōhēn בְּבוֹאָ֖ם when they enter bôʾ אֶל into ʾēl הֶחָצֵ֥ר court. ḥāṣēr הַפְּנִימִֽית׃ the inner pĕnîmî

וְאַלְמָנָה֙ a widow, ʾalmānâ וּגְרוּשָׁ֔ה nor her that is put away: gāraš לֹֽא Neither lōʾ יִקְח֥וּ shall they take lāqaḥ לָהֶ֖ם לְנָשִׁ֑ים for their wives ʾiššâ כִּ֣י but kî אִם ʾim בְּתוּלֹ֗ת maidens bĕtûlâ מִזֶּ֙רַע֙ of the seed zeraʿ בֵּ֣ית of the house bayit יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl וְהָֽאַלְמָנָה֙ zeraʿ אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer תִּֽהְיֶ֣ה had hāyâ אַלְמָנָ֔ה or a widow ʾalmānâ מִכֹּהֵ֖ן a priest before. kōhēn יִקָּֽחוּ׃ they shall take lāqaḥ

וְאֶת ʾēt עַמִּ֣י my people ʿam יוֹר֔וּ And they shall teach yārâ בֵּ֥ין between bên קֹ֖דֶשׁ the holy qōdeš לְחֹ֑ל and profane, ḥōl וּבֵין between bên טָמֵ֥א the unclean ṭāmēʾ לְטָה֖וֹר and the clean. ṭāhôr יוֹדִעֻֽם׃ and cause them to discern yādaʿ

וְעַל And in ʿal רִ֗יב controversy rîb הֵ֚מָּה they hēm יַעַמְד֣וּ shall stand ʿāmad לְשְׁפָּ֔ט in judgment; šāpaṭ בְּמִשְׁפָּטַ֖י it according to my judgments: mišpāṭ וִשְׁפְּטֻ֑הוּ they shall judge šāpaṭ וְאֶת ʾēt תּוֹרֹתַ֤י my laws tôrâ וְאֶת ʾēt חֻקֹּתַי֙ and my statutes ḥuqqâ בְּכָל in all kōl מוֹעֲדַ֣י mine assemblies; môʿēd יִשְׁמֹ֔רוּ and they shall keep šāmar וְאֶת ʾēt שַׁבְּתוֹתַ֖י my sabbaths. šabbāt יְקַדֵּֽשׁוּ׃ and they shall hallow qādaš

וְאֶל at ʾēl מֵ֣ת dead mût אָדָ֔ם person ʾādām לֹ֥א no lōʾ יָב֖וֹא And they shall come bôʾ לְטָמְאָ֑ה to defile ṭāmēʾ כִּ֣י themselves: but kî אִם ʾim לְאָ֡ב for father, ʾāb וּ֠לְאֵם or for mother, ʾēm וּלְבֵ֨ן or for son, bēn וּלְבַ֜ת or for daughter, bat לְאָ֗ח for brother, ʾāḥ וּלְאָח֛וֹת or for sister ʾāḥôt אֲשֶֽׁר that ʾăšer לֹא no lōʾ הָיְתָ֥ה hath had hāyâ לְאִ֖ישׁ husband, ʾîš יִטַּמָּֽאוּ׃ they may defile themselves. ṭāmēʾ

וְאַחֲרֵ֖י And after ʾaḥar טָֽהֳרָת֑וֹ he is cleansed, ṭohŏrâ שִׁבְעַ֥ת unto him seven šebaʿ יָמִ֖ים days. yôm יִסְפְּרוּ they shall reckon sāpar לֽוֹ׃

וּבְיוֹם֩ And in the day yôm בֹּא֨וֹ that he goeth bôʾ אֶל into ʾēl הַקֹּ֜דֶשׁ the sanctuary, qōdeš אֶל unto ʾēl הֶחָצֵ֤ר court, ḥāṣēr הַפְּנִימִית֙ the inner pĕnîmî לְשָׁרֵ֣ת to minister šārat בַּקֹּ֔דֶשׁ in the sanctuary, qōdeš יַקְרִ֖יב he shall offer qārab חַטָּאת֑וֹ his sin offering, ḥaṭṭāʾâ נְאֻ֖ם saith nĕʾum אֲדֹנָ֥י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִֽה׃ God. yĕhōwi

וְהָיְתָ֤ה And it shall be hāyâ לָהֶם֙ לְֽנַחֲלָ֔ה unto them for an inheritance: naḥălâ אֲנִ֖י I ʾănî נַֽחֲלָתָ֑ם their inheritance: naḥălâ וַאֲחֻזָּ֗ה possession ʾăḥuzzâ לֹֽא them no lōʾ תִתְּנ֤וּ and ye shall give nātan לָהֶם֙ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל in Israel: yiśrāʾēl אֲנִ֖י I ʾănî אֲחֻזָּתָֽם׃ their possession. ʾăḥuzzâ

הַמִּנְחָה֙ the meat offering, minḥâ וְהַחַטָּ֣את and the sin offering, ḥaṭṭāʾâ וְהָאָשָׁ֔ם and the trespass offering; ʾāšām הֵ֖מָּה They hēm יֹֽאכְל֑וּם shall eat ʾākal וְכָל and every kōl חֵ֥רֶם dedicated thing ḥērem בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל in Israel yiśrāʾēl לָהֶ֥ם יִהְיֶֽה׃ shall be theirs. hāyâ

וְרֵאשִׁית֩ And the first rēʾšît כָּל of all kōl בִּכּ֨וּרֵי the firstfruits bikkûr כֹ֜ל of all kōl וְכָל and every kōl תְּר֣וּמַת oblation tĕrûmâ כֹּ֗ל of all, kōl מִכֹּל֙ of every kōl תְּרוּמ֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם of your oblations, tĕrûmâ לַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים the priest's: kōhēn יִֽהְיֶ֑ה shall be hāyâ וְרֵאשִׁ֤ית the first rēʾšît עֲרִסֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙ of your dough, ʿărîsâ תִּתְּנ֣וּ ye shall also give nātan לַכֹּהֵ֔ן unto the priest kōhēn לְהָנִ֥יחַ to rest nûaḥ בְּרָכָ֖ה that he may cause the blessing bĕrākâ אֶל in ʾēl בֵּיתֶֽךָ׃ thine house. bayit

כָּל of any thing kōl נְבֵלָה֙ that is dead of itself, nĕbēlâ וּטְרֵפָ֔ה or torn, ṭĕrēpâ מִן whether min הָע֖וֹף it be fowl ʿôp וּמִן or min הַבְּהֵמָ֑ה beast. bĕhēmâ לֹ֥א shall not lōʾ יֹאכְל֖וּ eat ʾākal הַכֹּהֲנִֽים׃ The priests kōhēn
