וַיְהִ֛י And it came to pass hāyâ בְּעַשְׁתֵּֽי in the eleventh ʿaštê עֶשְׂרֵ֥ה ʿāśār שָׁנָ֖ה year, šāne בְּאֶחָ֣ד in the first ʾeḥād לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ of the month, ḥōdeš הָיָ֥ה came hāyâ דְבַר the word dābār יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵלַ֥י unto ʾēl לֵאמֹֽר׃ me, saying, ʾāmar

בֶּן Son bēn אָדָ֗ם of man, ʾādām יַ֠עַן because that yaʿan אֲשֶׁר ʾăšer אָ֨מְרָה hath said ʾāmar צֹּ֤ר Tyrus ṣōr עַל against ʿal יְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim הֶאָ֔ח Aha, heʾāḥ נִשְׁבְּרָ֛ה she is broken šābar דַּלְת֥וֹת the gates delet הָעַמִּ֖ים of the people: ʿam נָסֵ֣בָּה she is turned sābab אֵלָ֑י unto ʾēl אִמָּלְאָ֖ה me: I shall be replenished, mālēʾ הָחֳרָֽבָה׃ she is laid waste: ḥārab

לָכֵ֗ן Therefore kēn כֹּ֤ה thus kō אָמַר֙ saith ʾāmar אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִ֔ה God; yĕhōwi הִנְנִ֥י Behold, hēn עָלַ֖יִךְ I against ʿal צֹ֑ר thee, O Tyrus, ṣōr וְהַעֲלֵיתִ֤י to come up ʿālâ עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ against ʿal גּוֹיִ֣ם nations gôy רַבִּ֔ים and will cause many rab כְּהַעֲל֥וֹת to come up. ʿālâ הַיָּ֖ם thee, as the sea yām לְגַלָּֽיו׃ causeth his waves gal

וְשִׁחֲת֞וּ And they shall destroy šāḥat חֹמ֣וֹת the walls ḥômâ צֹ֗ר of Tyrus, ṣōr וְהָֽרְסוּ֙ and break down hāras מִגְדָּלֶ֔יהָ her towers: migdāl וְסִֽחֵיתִ֥י I will also scrape sāḥâ עֲפָרָ֖הּ her dust ʿāpār מִמֶּ֑נָּה from min וְנָתַתִּ֥י her, and make nātan אוֹתָ֖הּ ʾēt לִצְחִ֥יחַ her like the top ṣĕḥîaḥ סָֽלַע׃ of a rock. selaʿ

מִשְׁטַ֨ח the spreading mišṭôaḥ חֲרָמִ֤ים of nets ḥērem תִּֽהְיֶה֙ It shall be hāyâ בְּת֣וֹךְ in the midst tāwek הַיָּ֔ם of the sea: yām כִּ֚י for kî אֲנִ֣י I ʾănî דִבַּ֔רְתִּי have spoken dābar נְאֻ֖ם saith nĕʾum אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִ֑ה God: yĕhōwi וְהָיְתָ֥ה and it shall become hāyâ לְבַ֖ז a spoil baz לַגּוֹיִֽם׃ to the nations. gôy

וּבְנוֹתֶ֙יהָ֙ And her daughters bat אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה in the field śāde בַּחֶ֖רֶב by the sword; ḥereb תֵּהָרַ֑גְנָה shall be slain hārag וְיָדְע֖וּ and they shall know yādaʿ כִּי that kî אֲנִ֥י I ʾănî יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord. yĕhōwâ

כִּ֣י For kî כֹ֤ה thus kō אָמַר֙ saith ʾāmar אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִ֔ה God; yĕhōwi הִנְנִ֧י Behold, hēn מֵבִ֣יא I will bring bôʾ אֶל upon ʾēl צֹ֗ר Tyrus ṣōr נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּ֧ר Nebuchadrezzar nĕbûkadneʾṣṣar מֶֽלֶךְ king melek בָּבֶ֛ל of Babylon, bābel מִצָּפ֖וֹן from the north, ṣāpôn מֶ֣לֶךְ a king melek מְלָכִ֑ים of kings, melek בְּס֛וּס with horses, sûs וּבְרֶ֥כֶב and with chariots, rekeb וּבְפָרָשִׁ֖ים and with horsemen, pāroš וְקָהָ֥ל and companies, qāhāl וְעַם people. ʿam רָֽב׃ and much rab

בְּנוֹתַ֥יִךְ thy daughters bat בַּשָּׂדֶ֖ה in the field: śāde בַּחֶ֣רֶב with the sword ḥereb יַהֲרֹ֑ג He shall slay hārag וְנָתַ֨ן and he shall make nātan עָלַ֜יִךְ against ʿal דָּיֵ֗ק a fort dāyēq וְשָׁפַ֤ךְ thee, and cast šāpak עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ against ʿal סֹֽלְלָ֔ה a mount sōlĕlâ וְהֵקִ֥ים thee, and lift up qûm עָלַ֖יִךְ against thee. ʿal צִנָּֽה׃ the buckler ṣinnâ

וּמְחִ֣י engines mĕḥî קָֽבָלּ֔וֹ of war qōbel יִתֵּ֖ן And he shall set nātan בְּחֹֽמוֹתָ֑יִךְ against thy walls, ḥômâ וּמִ֨גְדְּלֹתַ֔יִךְ thy towers. migdāl יִתֹּ֖ץ he shall break down nātaṣ בְּחַרְבוֹתָֽיו׃ and with his axes ḥereb

מִשִּׁפְעַ֥ת By reason of the abundance šipʿâ סוּסָ֖יו of his horses sûs יְכַסֵּ֣ךְ shall cover kāsâ אֲבָקָ֑ם their dust ʾābāq מִקּוֹל֩ at the noise qôl פָּרַ֨שׁ of the horsemen, pāroš וְגַלְגַּ֜ל and of the wheels, galgal וָרֶ֗כֶב and of the chariots, rekeb תִּרְעַ֙שְׁנָה֙ shall shake rāʿaš חֽוֹמוֹתַ֔יִךְ thee: thy walls ḥômâ בְּבֹאוֹ֙ when he shall enter bôʾ בִּשְׁעָרַ֔יִךְ into thy gates, šaʿar כִּמְבוֹאֵ֖י as men enter into mābôʾ עִ֥יר a city ʿîr מְבֻקָּעָֽה׃ wherein is made a breach. bāqaʿ

בְּפַרְס֣וֹת With the hoofs parsâ סוּסָ֔יו of his horses sûs יִרְמֹ֖ס shall he tread down rāmas אֶת ʾēt כָּל all kōl חֽוּצוֹתָ֑יִךְ thy streets: ḥûṣ עַמֵּךְ֙ thy people ʿam בַּחֶ֣רֶב by the sword, ḥereb יַהֲרֹ֔ג he shall slay hārag וּמַצְּב֥וֹת garrisons maṣṣēbâ עֻזֵּ֖ךְ and thy strong ʿōz לָאָ֥רֶץ to the ground. ʾereṣ תֵּרֵֽד׃ shall go down yārad

וְשָׁלְל֣וּ And they shall make a spoil šālal חֵילֵ֗ךְ of thy riches, ḥayil וּבָֽזְזוּ֙ and make a prey bāzaz רְכֻלָּתֵ֔ךְ of thy merchandise: rĕkullâ וְהָֽרְסוּ֙ and they shall break down hāras חוֹמוֹתַ֔יִךְ thy walls, ḥômâ וּבָתֵּ֥י houses: bayit חֶמְדָּתֵ֖ךְ thy pleasant ḥemdâ יִתֹּ֑צוּ and destroy nātaṣ וַאֲבָנַ֤יִךְ thy stones ʾeben וְעֵצַ֙יִךְ֙ and thy timber ʿēṣ וַֽעֲפָרֵ֔ךְ and thy dust ʿāpār בְּת֥וֹךְ in the midst tāwek מַ֖יִם of the water. mayim יָשִֽׂימוּ׃ and they shall lay śûm

וְהִשְׁבַּתִּ֖י to cease; šābat הֲמ֣וֹן And I will cause the noise hāmôn שִׁירָ֑יִךְ of thy songs šîr וְק֣וֹל and the sound qôl כִּנּוֹרַ֔יִךְ of thy harps kinnôr לֹ֥א shall be no lōʾ יִשָּׁמַ֖ע heard. šāmaʿ עֽוֹד׃ more ʿôd

וּנְתַתִּ֞יךְ And I will make nātan לִצְחִ֣יחַ thee like the top ṣĕḥîaḥ סֶ֗לַע of a rock: selaʿ מִשְׁטַ֤ח to spread mišṭôaḥ חֲרָמִים֙ nets ḥērem תִּֽהְיֶ֔ה thou shalt be hāyâ לֹ֥א no lōʾ תִבָּנֶ֖ה upon; thou shalt be built bānâ ע֑וֹד more: ʿôd כִּ֣י for kî אֲנִ֤י I ʾănî יְהוָה֙ God. yĕhōwi דִּבַּ֔רְתִּי have spoken dābar נְאֻ֖ם saith nĕʾum אֲדֹנָ֥י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִֽה׃ the Lord yĕhōwâ

כֹּ֥ה Thus kō אָמַ֛ר saith ʾāmar אֲדֹנָ֥י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִ֖ה God yĕhōwi לְצ֑וֹר to Tyrus; ṣōr הֲלֹ֣א׀ Shall not lōʾ מִקּ֣וֹל at the sound qôl מַפַּלְתֵּ֗ךְ of thy fall, mappelet בֶּאֱנֹ֨ק cry, ʾānaq חָלָ֜ל when the wounded ḥālāl בֵּהָ֤רֵֽג is made hārag הֶ֙רֶג֙ when the slaughter hereg בְּתוֹכֵ֔ךְ in the midst of thee? tāwek יִרְעֲשׁ֖וּ shake rāʿaš הָאִיִּֽים׃ the isles ʾî

וְֽיָרְד֞וּ shall come down yārad מֵעַ֣ל from ʿal כִּסְאוֹתָ֗ם their thrones, kissēʾ כֹּ֚ל Then all kōl נְשִׂיאֵ֣י the princes nāśîʾ הַיָּ֔ם of the sea yām וְהֵסִ֙ירוּ֙ and lay away sûr אֶת ʾēt מְעִ֣ילֵיהֶ֔ם their robes, mĕʿîl וְאֶת ʾēt בִּגְדֵ֥י garments: beged רִקְמָתָ֖ם their broidered riqmâ יִפְשֹׁ֑טוּ and put off pāšaṭ חֲרָד֤וֹת׀ themselves with trembling; ḥărādâ יִלְבָּ֙שׁוּ֙ they shall clothe lābaš עַל upon ʿal הָאָ֣רֶץ the ground, ʾereṣ יֵשֵׁ֔בוּ they shall sit yāšab וְחָֽרְדוּ֙ and shall tremble ḥārad לִרְגָעִ֔ים at moment, regaʿ וְשָׁמְמ֖וּ and be astonished šāmēm עָלָֽיִךְ׃ at thee. ʿal

וְנָשְׂא֨וּ And they shall take up nāśāʾ עָלַ֤יִךְ for ʿal קִינָה֙ a lamentation qînâ וְאָ֣מְרוּ thee, and say ʾāmar לָ֔ךְ אֵ֣יךְ to thee, How ʾêk אָבַ֔דְתְּ art thou destroyed, ʾābad נוֹשֶׁ֖בֶת inhabited yāšab מִיַּמִּ֑ים of seafaring men, yām הָעִ֣יר city, ʿîr הַהֻלָּ֗לָה the renowned hālal אֲשֶׁר֩ which ʾăšer הָיְתָ֨ה wast hāyâ חֲזָקָ֤ה strong ḥāzāq בַיָּם֙ in the sea, yām הִ֣יא she hûʾ וְיֹשְׁבֶ֔יהָ and her inhabitants, yāšab אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer נָתְנ֥וּ cause nātan חִתִּיתָ֖ם their terror ḥittît לְכָל on all kōl יוֹשְׁבֶֽיהָ׃ that haunt it! yāšab

עַתָּה֙ Now ʿattâ יֶחְרְד֣וּ tremble ḥārad הָֽאִיִּ֔ן shall the isles ʾî י֖וֹם in the day yôm מַפַּלְתֵּ֑ךְ of thy fall; mappelet וְנִבְהֲל֛וּ shall be troubled bāhal הָאִיִּ֥ים yea, the isles ʾî אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer בַּיָּ֖ם in the sea yām מִצֵּאתֵֽךְ׃ at thy departure. yāṣāʾ

כִּ֣י For kî כֹ֤ה thus kō אָמַר֙ saith ʾāmar אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִ֔ה God; yĕhōwi בְּתִתִּ֤י When I shall make nātan אֹתָךְ֙ ʾēt עִ֣יר city, ʿîr נֶחֱרֶ֔בֶת thee a desolate ḥārab כֶּעָרִ֖ים like the cities ʿîr אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer לֹֽא are not lōʾ נוֹשָׁ֑בוּ inhabited; yāšab בְּהַעֲל֤וֹת when I shall bring up ʿālâ עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ upon ʿal אֶת ʾēt תְּה֔וֹם the deep tĕhôm וְכִסּ֖וּךְ shall cover thee; kāsâ הַמַּ֥יִם waters mayim הָרַבִּֽים׃ thee, and great rab

וְהוֹרַדְתִּיךְ֩ When I shall bring thee down yārad אֶת with ʾēt י֨וֹרְדֵי them that descend yārad ב֜וֹר into the pit, bôr אֶל with ʾēl עַ֣ם the people ʿam עוֹלָ֗ם of old time, ʿôlām וְ֠הוֹשַׁבְתִּיךְ and shall set yāšab בְּאֶ֨רֶץ of the earth, ʾereṣ תַּחְתִּיּ֜וֹת thee in the low parts taḥtî כָּחֳרָב֤וֹת in places desolate ḥorbâ מֵֽעוֹלָם֙ of old, ʿôlām אֶת with ʾēt י֣וֹרְדֵי them that go down yārad ב֔וֹר to the pit, bôr לְמַ֖עַן that maʿan לֹ֣א thou be not lōʾ תֵשֵׁ֑בִי inhabited; yāšab וְנָתַתִּ֥י and I shall set nātan צְבִ֖י glory ṣĕbî בְּאֶ֥רֶץ in the land ʾereṣ חַיִּֽים׃ of the living; ḥay

בַּלָּה֥וֹת thee a terror, ballāhâ אֶתְּנֵ֖ךְ I will make nātan וְאֵינֵ֑ךְ and thou no ʾayin וּֽתְבֻקְשִׁ֗י though thou be sought for, bāqaš וְלֹֽא lōʾ תִמָּצְאִ֥י be found māṣāʾ עוֹד֙ again, ʿôd לְעוֹלָ֔ם yet shalt thou never ʿôlām נְאֻ֖ם saith nĕʾum אֲדֹנָ֥י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִֹֽה׃ God. yĕhōwi
