அப்படியே மோசே தன் கையைச் சமுத்திரத்தின்மேல் நீட்டினான்; விடியற்காலத்தில் சமுத்திரம் பலமாய் திரும்பி வந்தது; எகிப்தியர் அதற்கு எதிராக ஓடும்போது, கர்த்தர் அவர்களைக் கடலின் நடுவே கவிழ்த்துப்போட்டார்.

எனவே விடிவதற்குச் சற்றுமுன் மோசே கடலுக்கு மேலாகத் தன் கரங்களை உயர்த்தினான். தண்ணீர் முன்புபோல் சமமாக வந்து நின்றது. எகிப்தியர்கள் தங்களால் முடிந்த அளவு தண்ணீரிலிருந்து தப்பி ஓட முயன்றார்கள். ஆனால் கர்த்தர் அவர்களைக் கடலில் மூழ்கடித்துவிட்டார்.

மோசே தம் கையைக் கடல்மேல் நீட்டவே, காலையில் விடியும் நேரத்தில் கடல் தன் முன்னைய நிலைக்குத் திரும்பிவந்தது. அதற்குஎதிர்ப்பட அஞ்சி, எகிப்தியர்கள் விரைந்தோடுகையில் ஆண்டவர் எகிப்தியரை நடுக்கடலில் அமிழ்த்தினார்.
