ஞானத்தை அறிகிறதற்கும், பைத்தியத்தையும் மதியீனத்தையும் அறிகிறதற்கும், நான் என் மனதைப் பிரயோகம்பண்ணினேன்; இதுவும் மனதுக்குச் சஞ்சலமாயிருக்கிறதென்று கண்டேன்.

my heart לִבִּי֙ lēb lave
to know לָדַ֣עַת yādaʿ ya-DA
wisdom, חָכְמָ֔ה ḥokmâ hoke-MA
and to know וְדַ֥עַת yādaʿ ya-DA
madness הוֹלֵל֖וֹת hôlēlâ hoh-lay-LA
and folly: וְשִׂכְל֑וּת siklût seek-LOOT
I perceived יָדַ֕עְתִּי yādaʿ ya-DA
also שֶׁגַּם gam ɡahm
this זֶ֥ה ze zeh
that ה֖וּא hûʾ hoo
is vexation רַעְי֥וֹן raʿyôn ra-YONE
of spirit. רֽוּחַ׃ rûaḥ ROO-ak
