கர்த்தர் உங்களை அழிப்பேன் என்று சொன்னபடியினால், நான் முன்போல் கர்த்தரின் சமுகத்தில் இரவும் பகலும் நாற்பதுநாள் விழுந்துகிடந்தேன்; அப்பொழுது நான் கர்த்தரை நோக்கிப் பண்ணின விண்ணப்பமாவது:

	וְאֶת	ʾēt	ate
and forty	אַרְבָּעִ֥ים	ʾarbāʿîm	ar-ba-EEM
nights,	הַלַּ֖יְלָה	layil	la-YEEL
as	אֲשֶׁ֣ר	ʾăšer	uh-SHER
I fell down	הִתְנַפָּ֑לְתִּי	nāpal	na-FAHL
because	כִּֽי	kî	kee
had said	אָמַ֥ר	ʾāmar	ah-MAHR
the Lord	יְהוָ֖ה	yĕhōwâ	yeh-hoh-VA
he would destroy you.	לְהַשְׁמִ֥יד	šāmad	sha-MAHD
