1 ராஜாவாகிய யெரொபெயாமின் பதினெட்டாம் வருஷத்தில் அபியா யூதாவின்மேல் ராஜாவாகி, Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah.

2 மூன்று வருஷம் எருசலேமில் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணினான்; கிபியா ஊரானாகிய ஊரியேலின் குமாரத்தியாகிய அவனுடைய தாயின் பேர் மிகாயாள்; அபியாவுக்கும் யெரொபெயாமுக்கும் யுத்தம் நடந்தது. He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Michaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

3 அபியா தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட நாலுலட்சம்பேராகிய பராக்கிரம சேவகரின் இராணுவத்தாரை யுத்தத்திற்கு ஆயத்தம்பண்ணினான்; யெரொபெயாம் தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட எட்டுலட்சம் பேராகிய பலத்த பராக்கிரமசாலிகளை அவனுக்கு எதிராக யுத்தத்திற்கு நிறுத்தினான். And Abijah set the battle in array with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: Jeroboam also set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, being mighty men of valor.

4 அப்பொழுது அபியா எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசத்திலுள்ள செமராயிம் என்னும் மலையின்மேல் ஏறிநின்று, யெரொபெயாமே, எல்லா இஸ்ரவேலரே, கேளுங்கள். And Abijah stood up upon mount Zemaraim, which is in mount Ephraim, and said, Hear me, thou Jeroboam, and all Israel;

5 இஸ்ரவேலை என்றைக்கும் ஆளும் ராஜ்யபாரத்தை இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் தாவீதுக்கும் அவன் குமாரருக்கும் மாறாத உடன்படிக்கையாய்க் கட்டளையிட்டதை நீங்கள் அறியீர்களா? Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?

6 ஆகிலும் தாவீதின் குமாரனாகிய சாலொமோனின் ஊழியக்காரனான யெரொபெயாம் என்னும் நேபாத்தின் குமாரன் எழும்பி, தன் எஜமானுக்கு விரோதமாகக் கலகம்பண்ணினான். Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, is risen up, and hath rebelled against his lord.

7 பேலியாளின் மக்களாகிய வீணர் அவனோடேகூடி, சாலொமோனின் குமாரனாகிய ரெகொபெயாம் அவர்களை எதிர்க்கக் கூடாமல் வாலவயதும் திடனற்ற மனதுமாயிருக்கையில், அவனுக்கு விரோதமாய்த் தங்களைப் பலப்படுத்திக்கொண்டார்கள். And there are gathered unto him vain men, the children of Belial, and have strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.

8 இப்போதும் தாவீதுடைய குமாரன் கையிலிருக்கிற கர்த்தருடைய ராஜ்யத்திற்கு விரோதமாக நீங்கள் பெலன்கொள்ளலாமென்று நினைக்கிறீர்கள்; நீங்கள் ஏராளமான கூட்டம்; யெரொபெயாம் உங்களுக்கு தேவர்களாக உண்டாக்கினபொன் கன்றுக்குட்டிகளும் உங்களிடத்தில் இருக்கிறதே. And now ye think to withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hand of the sons of David; and ye be a great multitude, and there are with your golden calves, which Jeroboam made you for gods.

9 நீங்கள் ஆரோனின் குமாரராகிய கர்த்தருடைய ஆசாரியரையும் லேவியரையும் தள்ளிவிட்டு, தேசாதேசங்களின் ஜனங்களைப்போல உங்களுக்கு ஆசாரியர்களை உண்டுபண்ணவில்லையோ? இளங்காளையினாலும், ஏழு கடாக்களினாலும், தன்னைப் பிரதிஷ்டையாக்கும்படி வருகிற எவனும் தெய்வம் அல்லாதவைகளுக்கு ஆசாரியனாகிறானே. Have ye not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the nations of other lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, the same may be a priest of them that are no gods.

10 எங்களுக்கோ கர்த்தரே தேவன்; நாங்கள் அவரைவிட்டு விலகவில்லை; கர்த்தருக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்கிற ஆசாரியர்கள் ஆரோனின் குமாரரும், பணிவிடை செய்கிறவர்கள் லேவியருமாமே. But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests, which minister unto the LORD, are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites wait upon their business:

11 அவர்கள் தினந்தோறும் கர்த்தருக்குச் சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளையும் சுகந்தவாசனையான தூபத்தையும் செலுத்தி, காலையிலும் மாலையிலும் பரிசுத்தமான மேஜையின்மேல் சமுகத்தப்பங்களை அடுக்கிவைக்கிறதையும், பொன் குத்துவிளக்கையும் அதின் விளக்குகளைச் சாயங்காலந்தோறும் ஏற்றுகிறதையும் விசாரிக்கிறார்கள்; நாங்கள் எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் காவலைக் காக்கிறோம்; நீங்களோ அவரை விட்டு விலகினீர்கள். And they burn unto the LORD every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the shewbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but ye have forsaken him.

And, behold, God himself is with us for our captain, and his priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the LORD God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.

13 யெரொபெயாம் அவர்களுக்குப் பின்னாக வரத்தக்கதாக ஒரு பதிவிடையைச் சுற்றிப்போகப்பண்ணினான்; அப்படியே அவர்கள் யூதாவுக்கு முன் இருந்தார்கள்; அந்தப் பதிவிடை அவர்களுக்குப்பின் இருந்தது. But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambushment was behind them.

14 யூதா ஜனங்கள் திரும்பிப்பார்க்கிறபோது, முன்னும் பின்னும் யுத்தம் நடக்கிறதைக் கண்டு, கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டார்கள்; ஆசாரியர்கள் பூரிகைகளை முழக்கினார்கள். And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind: and they cried unto the LORD, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.

15 யூதா மனுஷர் ஆர்ப்பரித்தார்கள்; யூதா மனுஷர் ஆர்ப்பரிக்கிறபோது, தேவன் யெரொபெயாமையும் இஸ்ரவேலனைத்தையும் அபியாவுக்கும் யூதாவுக்கும் முன்பாக முறிய அடித்தார். Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

16 இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் யூதாவுக்கு முன்பாக முறிந்தோடினார்கள்; தேவன் அவர் களை இவர்கள் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார். And the children of Israel fled before Judah: and God delivered them into their hand.

17 அபியாவும் அவனுடைய ஜனங்களும் அவர்களில் மகா சங்காரம்பண்ணினார்கள்; தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட ஐந்துலட்சம்பேர் இஸ்ரவேலிலே வெட்டுண்டுவிழுந்தார்கள். And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.

18 அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் அக்காலத்திலே தாழ்த்தப்பட்டார்கள்; யூதா புத்திரரோ தங்கள் பிதாக்களின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரைச் சார்ந்துகொண்டதினால் மேற்கொண்டர்கள். Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the LORD God of their fathers.

19 அபியா யெரொபெயாமைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து, அவனுக்கு உண்டான பட்டணங்களாகிய பெத்தேலையும் அதின் கிராமங்களையும், எஷானாவையும் அதின் கிராமங்களையும், எப்பெரோனையும் அதின் கிராமங்களையும் பிடித்தான். And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and Ephraim with the towns thereof.

20 அப்புறம் அபியாவின் நாட்களில் யெரொபெயாம் பலங்கொள்ளமாட்டாதேபோய், கர்த்தர் அவனை அடித்ததால் மரணமடைந்தான். Neither did Jeroboam recover strength again in the days of Abijah: and the LORD struck him, and he died.

21 அபியா பலத்துப்போனான்; அவன் பதினாலு ஸ்திரீகளை விவாகம்பண்ணி, இருபத்திரண்டு குமாரரையும் பதினாறு குமாரத்திகளையும் பெற்றான். But Abijah waxed mighty, and married fourteen wives, and begat twenty and two sons, and sixteen daughters.

1 Raajaavaakiya yeropeyaamin pathinettam varushaththil apiyaa yoothaavinmael raajaavaaki, Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah.

2 Moontu varusham erusalaemil raajyapaarampannnninaan; kipiyaa ooraanaakiya ooriyaelin kumaaraththiyaakiya avanutaiya thaayin paer mikaayaal; apiyaavukkum yeropeyaamukkum yuththam nadanthathu. He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Michaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

3 Apiyaa therinthukollappatta naalulatchampaeraakiya paraakkirama sevakarin iraanuvaththaarai yuththaththirku aayaththampannnninaan; yeropeyaam therinthukollappatta ettulatcham paeraakiya palaththa paraakkiramasaalikalai avanukku ethiraaka yuththaththirku niraுththinaan. And Abijah set the battle in array with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: Jeroboam also set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, being mighty men of valor.

4 Appoluthu apiyaa eppiraayeem malaiththaesaththilulla semaraayim ennum malaiyinmael aerinintu, yeropeyaamae, ellaa isravaelarae, kaelungal. And Abijah stood up upon mount Zemaraim, which is in mount Ephraim, and said, Hear me, thou Jeroboam, and all Israel;

5 Isravaelai entaikkum aalum raajyapaaraththai isravaelin thaevanaakiya Karththar Davidkkum avan kumaararukkum maaraatha udanpatikkaiyaayk kattalaiyittathai neengal ariyeerkalaa? Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?

6 Aakilum thaaveethin kumaaranaakiya saalomonin ooliyakkaaranaana yeropeyaam ennum naepaaththin kumaaran elumpi, than ejamaanukku virothamaakak kalakampannnninaan. Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, is risen up, and hath rebelled against his lord.

7 Paeliyaalin makkalaakiya veenar avanotaekooti, saalomonin kumaaranaakiya rekopeyaam avarkalai ethirkkak koodaamal vaalavayathum thidanatta manathumaayirukkaiyil, avanukku virothamaayth thangalaip palappaduththikkonndaarkal. 8 Ippothum Davidtaiya kumaaran kaiyilirukkira karththarutaiya raajyaththirku virothamaaka neengal pelankollalaamentu ninaikkireerkal; neengal aeraalamaana koottam; yeropeyaam ungalukku thaevarkalaaka unndaakkinapon kantukkuttikalum ungalidaththil irukkirathae. 9 Neengal aaronin kumaararaakiya karththarutaiya aasaariyaraiyum laeviyaraiyum thallivittu, thaesaathaesangalin janangalaippola ungalukku aasaariyarkalai unndupannnavillaiyo? Ilangaalaiyinaalum, aelu kadaakkalinaalum, thannaip pirathishtaiyaakkumpati varukira evanum theyvam allaathavaikalukku aasaariyanaakiraanae. 10 Engalukko karththarae Dhevan; naangal avaraivittu vilakavillai; karththarukku ooliyanjaெykira aasaariyarkal aaronin kumaararum, pannivitai seykiravarkal laeviyarumaamae. But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests, which minister unto the LORD, are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites wait upon their business:

11 Avarkal thinanthoraுm karththarukkuch sarvaanga thakanapalikalaiyum sukanthavaasanaiyaana thoopaththaiyum seluththi, kaalaiyilum maalaiyilum Parisuththamaana maejaiyinmael samukaththappangalai adukkivaikkirathaiyum, pon kuththuvilakkaiyum athin vilakkukalaich saayangaalanthoraுm aettaுkirathaiyum visaarikkiraarkal; naangal engal thaevanaakiya karththarin kaavalaik kaakkirom; neengalo avarai vittu vilakineerkal. 12 Itho, Dhevan engal senaapathiyaay engalotaekooda irukkiraar; ungalukku virothamaakap poorikaikalaip perunthoniyaay mulakkukira aasaariyarkalum irukkiraarkal; Israel puththirarae, ungal pithaakkalin thaevanaakiya karththarukku virothamaaka yuththanjaெyyaathaeyungal; seythaal ungalukkuch siththikkaathu entan. And, behold, God himself is with us for our captain, and his priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the LORD God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.

13 Yeropeyaam avarkalukkup pinnaaka varaththakkathaaka oru pathivitaiyaich suttippokappannnninaan; appatiyae avarkal yoothaavukku mun irunthaarkal; anthap pathivitai avarkalukkuppin irunthathu. But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambushment was behind them.

14 Yoothaa janangal thirumpippaarkkirapothu, munnum pinnum yuththam nadakkirathaik kanndu, karththarai Nnokkik kooppittarkal; aasaariyarkal poorikaikalai mulakkinaarkal. And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind: and they cried unto the LORD, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.

15 Yoothaa manushar aarppariththaarkal; yoothaa manushar aarpparikkirapothu, Dhevan yeropeyaamaiyum isravaelanaiththaiyum apiyaavukkum yoothaavukkum munpaaka muriya atiththaar. Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

16 Israel puththirar yoothaavukku munpaaka murinthotinaarkal; Dhevan avar kalai ivarkal kaiyil oppukkoduththaar. And the children of Israel fled before Judah: and God delivered them into their hand.

17 Apiyaavum avanutaiya janangalum avarkalil makaa sangaarampannnninaarkal; therinthukollappatta ainthulatchampaer isravaelilae vettunnduvilunthaarkal. And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.

18 Appatiyae Israel puththirar akkaalaththilae thaalththappattarkal; yoothaa puththiraro thangal pithaakkalin thaevanaakiya karththaraich saarnthukonndathinaal maerkonndarkal. Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the LORD God of their fathers.

19 Apiyaa yeropeyaamaip pinthodarnthu, avanukku unndaana pattanangalaakiya peththaelaiyum athin kiraamangalaiyum, eshaanaavaiyum athin kiraamangalaiyum, epperonaiyum athin kiraamangalaiyum pitiththaan. And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and Ephraim with the towns thereof.

20 Appuram apiyaavin naatkalil yeropeyaam palangaொllamaattathaepoy, Karththar avanai atiththathaal maranamatainthaan. Neither did Jeroboam recover strength again in the days of Abijah: and the LORD struck him, and he died.

21 Apiyaa palaththupponaan; avan pathinaalu sthireekalai vivaakampannnni, irupaththiranndu kumaararaiyum pathinaaraு kumaaraththikalaiyum pettaாn. But Abijah waxed mighty, and married fourteen wives, and begat twenty and two sons, and sixteen daughters.
