அந்த மனுஷரோடே அவன் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறதை அவன் மூத்த சகோதரனாகிய எலியாப் கேட்டபோது, அவன் தாவீதின்மேல் கோபங்கொண்டு: நீ இங்கே வந்தது என்ன? வனாந்தரத்திலுள்ள அந்தக் கொஞ்ச ஆடுகளை நீ யார் வசத்தில் விட்டாய்? யுத்தத்தைப் பார்க்க அல்லவா வந்தாய்? உன் துணிகரத்தையும், உன் இருதயத்தின் அகங்காரத்தையும் நான் அறிவேன் என்றான்.

தாவீதின் மூத்த அண்ணனான எலியாப் தனது தம்பி, வீரர்களிடம் சொன்னதைக் கேட்டு கோபத்தோடு, “இங்கு ஏன் வந்தாய்? ஆடுகளைக் காட்டில் யாரிடம் விட்டு வந்தாய்? நீ எதற்காக இங்கு வந்தாய் என்று எனக்குத் தெரியும்! உனக்கு சொல்லப்பட்டதைச் செய்ய உனக்கு விருப்பம் இல்லை. யுத்தத்தை வேடிக்கை பார்க்கவே நீ இங்கு வந்தாய்!” என்றான்.

Vanaantharaththilulla anthak konja aadukalai nee yaar vasaththil vittay? Yuththaththaip paarkka allavaa vanthaay? Un thunnikaraththaiyum, un iruthayaththin akangaaraththaiyum naan arivaen entan.
