ਪਰ ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਦਿਓਁਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਰਬਾ ਦੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਕਰ ਦਿਉਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਨਾਮ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਖਸ਼ਾਂਗਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸੋ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਦੱਸੋ ਕਿ ਉਸਦਾ ਕੀ ਅਰਬ ਹੈ।”

ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਜਾਦੂਗਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਕਸਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਵਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਿਆਣਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਇਸ ਲਿਖਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਸੱਕੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸਦਾ ਅਰਬ ਸਮਝਾ ਸੱਕੇਗਾ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਨਾਮ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਰਮਚੀ ਵਸਤਰ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਨੇ ਦਾ ਹਾਰ ਪਾਵਾਂਗਾ। ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੀਸਰਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹਾਕਮ ਬਣਾ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।”

ਫ਼ੇਰ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਦਾਨੀਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਕੰਮ ਸੌਂਪਿਆ। ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਦਾਨੀਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮਹਿੰਗੀਆਂ ਸੁਗਾਤਾਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ। ਨਬੂਕਦਨੱਸਰ ਨੇ ਦਾਨੀਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਦਾ ਹਾਕਮ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦਾਨੀਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਫ਼ੇਰ ਬੇਲਸ਼ੱਸਰ ਨੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਦਾਨੀਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਰਮਚੀ ਦੇ ਵਸਤਰ ਪਹਿਨਾੇ ਜਾਣ। ਇਹ ਸੋਨੇ ਦਾ ਹਾਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਿਅ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਤੀਸਰਾ ਸਰਵੁਚ੍ਚ ਹਾਕਮ ਐਲਾਨਿਆ ਗਿਆ।

ਮੋਆਬ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਦਯਾਨ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਬਾਲਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਚੱਲੇ ਗਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਪੈਸੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਲਾਕ ਦੀ ਆਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹਰ ਗੱਲ ਦੱਸੀ।

ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਰਬ ਸਮਝਾ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਔਖੇ ਮਸਲੇ ਹੱਲ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਕੰਧ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਇਸ ਲਿਖਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਸੱਕੇਁ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸਦਾ ਅਰਬ ਸਮਝਾ ਸੱਕੇਁ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ: ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਰਮਚੀ ਵਸਤਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਗਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਨੇ ਦਾ ਹਾਰ ਪਾਵਾਂਗਾ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਤੀਸਰਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹਾਕਮ ਬਣ ਜਾਵੇਂਗਾ।”

ਜਦੋਂ ਬਾਲਾਕ ਨੇ ਬਿਲਆਮ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ। ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਸੀ। ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ? ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਦੇਣ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ।”
