Proverbs 26 in Tamil

1 உஷ்ணகாலத்திலே உறைந்தபனியும், அறுப்புக்காலத்திலே மழையும் தகாததுபோல, மூடனுக்கு மகிமை தகாது. As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool.

2 அடைக்கலான் குருவி அலைந்துபோவதுபோலும், தகைவிலான் குருவி பறந்துபோவதுபோலும், காரணமில்லாமல் இட்ட சாபம் தங்காது. As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.

3 குதிரைக்குச் சவுக்கும், கழுதைக்குக் கடிவாளமும், மூடனுடைய முதுகுக்குப் பிரம்பும் ஏற்றது. A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back.

4 மூடனுக்கு அவன் மதியீனத்தின்படி மறுஉத்தரவு கொடாதே; கொடுத்தால் நீயும் அவனைப் போலாவாய். Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.

5 மூடனுக்கு அவன் மதியீனத்தின்படி மறுஉத்தரவு கொடு; கொடாவிட்டால் அவன் தன் பார்வைக்கு ஞானியாயிருப்பான். Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.

6 மூடன் கையிலே செய்தி அனுப்புகிறவன் தன் கால்களையே தறித்துக்கொண்டு நஷ்டத்தை அடைகிறான். He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage.

7 நொண்டியின் கால்கள் குந்திக்குந்தி நடக்கும், அப்படியே மூடரின் வாயிலுள்ள உவமைச்சொல்லும் குந்தும். The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools.

8 மூடனுக்குக் கனத்தைக் கொடுக்கிறவன் கவணிலே கல்லைக்கட்டுகிறவன் போலிருப்பான். As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.

9 மூடன் வாயில் அகப்பட்ட பழமொழி வெறியன் கையில் அகப்பட்ட முள்ளு. As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouths of fools.

10 பெலத்தவன் அனைவரையும் நோகப்பண்ணி, மூடனையும் வேலைகொள்ளுகிறான், மீறி நடக்கிறவர்களையும் வேலைகொள்ளுகிறான். The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.

11 நாயானது தான் கக்கினதைத் தின்னும்படி திரும்புவதுபோல, மூடனும் தன் மூடத்தனத்துக்குத் திரும்புகிறான். As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.

12 தன் பார்வைக்கு ஞானியாயிருப்பவனைக் கண்டாயானால், அவனைப்பார்க்கிலும் மூடனைக்குறித்து அதிக நம்பிக்கையாயிருக்கலாம். Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

13 வழியிலே சிங்கம் இருக்கும், நடு வீதியிலே சிங்கம் இருக்கும் என்று சோம்பேறி சொல்லுவான். The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.

14 கதவு கீல்மூளையில் ஆடுகிறதுபோல,சோம்பேறியும் படுக்கையில் ஆடிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான். As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.

15 சோம்பேறி தன் கையைக் கலத்திலே வைத்து அதைத் தன் வாய்க்குத் திரும்ப எடுக்க வருத்தப்படுகிறான். The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth.

16 புத்தியுள்ள மறுஉத்தரவு சொல்லத்தகும் ஏழுபேரைப்பார்க்கிலும் சோம்பேறி தன் பார்வைக்கு அதிக ஞானமுள்ளவன். The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.

17 வழியே போகையில் தனக்கடாத வழக்கில் தலையிடுகிறவன் நாயைக் காதைப் பிடித்திழுக்கிறவனைப்போலிருக்கிறான். He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.

18 கொள்ளிகளையும் அம்புகளையும் சாவுக்கேதுவானவைகளையும் எறிகிற பைத்தியக்காரன் எப்படியிருக்கிறானோ, As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death,

19 அப்படியே, தனக்கடுத்தவனை வஞ்சித்து: நான் விளையாட்டுக்கல்லவோ செய்தேன் என்று சொல்லுகிற மனுஷனும் இருக்கிறான். So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?

20 விறகில்லாமல் நெருப்பு அவியும்; கோள்சொல்லுகிறவனில்லாமல் சண்டை அடங்கும். Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

21 கரிகள் தழலுக்கும், விறகு நெருப்புக்கும் ஏதுவானதுபோல, வாதுப்பிரியன் சண்டைகளை மூட்டுகிறதற்கு ஏதுவானவன். As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

22 கோள்காரனுடைய வார்த்தைகள் விளையாட்டுப்போலிருக்கும்; ஆனாலும் அவைகள் உள்ளத்திற்குள் தைக்கும். The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

23 நேச அனலைக் காண்பிக்கிற உதடுகளோடு கூடிய தீயநெஞ்சம் வெள்ளிப்பூச்சு பூசிய ஓட்டைப்போலிருக்கும். Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.

24 பகைஞன் தன் உள்ளத்தில் கபடத்தை மறைத்து, தன் உதடுகளினால் சூதுபேசுகிறான். He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him;

25 அவன் இதம்பேசினாலும் அவனை நம்பாதே; அவன் இருதயத்தில் ஏழு அருவருப்புகள் உண்டு. When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.

26 பகையை வஞ்சகமாய் மறைத்துவைக்கிறவனெவனோ அவனுடைய பொல்லாங்கு மகா சபையிலே வெளிப்படுத்தப்படும். Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.

27 படுகுழியை வெட்டுகிறவன் தானே அதில் விழுவான்; கல்லைப் புரட்டுகிறவன்மேல் அந்தக் கல் திரும்ப விழும். Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

28 கள்ளநாவு தன்னால் கிலேசப்பட்டவர்களைப் பகைக்கும்; இச்சகம்பேசும் வாய் அழிவை உண்டுபண்ணும். A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.

1 Ushnakaalaththilae urainthapaniyum, araுppukkaalaththilae malaiyum thakaathathupola, moodanukku makimai thakaathu. As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool.

2 Ataikkalaan kuruvi alainthupovathupolum, thakaivilaan kuruvi paranthupovathupolum, kaaranamillaamal itta saapam thangaathu. As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.

3 Kuthiraikkuch savukkum, kaluthaikkuk kativaalamum, moodanutaiya muthukukkup pirampum aettathu. A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back.

4 Moodanukku avan mathiyeenaththinpati maraுuththaravu kodaathae; koduththaal neeyum avanaip polaavaay. Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.

5 Moodanukku avan mathiyeenaththinpati maraுuththaravu kodu; kodaavittal avan than paarvaikku njaaniyaayiruppaan. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.

7 Nonntiyin kaalkal kunthikkunthi nadakkum, appatiyae moodarin vaayilulla uvamaichchaொllum kunthum. The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools.

8 Moodanukkuk kanaththaik kodukkiravan kavannilae kallaikkattukiravan poliruppaan. As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.

9 Moodan vaayil akappatta palamoli veriyan kaiyil akappatta mullu. As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouths of fools.

10 Pelaththavan anaivaraiyum Nnokappannnni, moodanaiyum vaelaikollukiraan, meeri nadakkiravarkalaiyum vaelaikollukiraan. The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.

11 Naayaanathu thaan kakkinathaith thinnumpati thirumpuvathupola, moodanum than moodaththanaththukkuth thirumpukiraan. As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.

12 Than paarvaikku njaaniyaayiruppavanaik kanndaayaanaal, avanaippaarkkilum moodanaikkuriththu athika nampikkaiyaayirukkalaam. Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

13 Valiyilae singam irukkum, nadu veethiyilae singam irukkum entu sompaeri solluvaan. The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.

14 Kathavu geelmoolaiyil aadukirathupola,sompaeriyum padukkaiyil aatikkonntirukkiraan. As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.

15 Sompaeri than kaiyaik kalaththilae vaiththu athaith than vaaykkuth thirumpa edukka varuththappadukiraan. The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth.

16 Puththiyulla maraுuththaravu sollaththakum aelupaeraippaarkkilum sompaeri than paarvaikku athika njaanamullavan. The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.

17 Valiyae pokaiyil thanakkadaatha valakkil thalaiyidukiravan naayaik kaathaip pitiththilukkiravanaippolirukkiraan. He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.

18 Kollikalaiyum ampukalaiyum saavukkaethuvaanavaikalaiyum erikira paiththiyakkaaran eppatiyirukkiraano, As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death,

19 Appatiyae, thanakkaduththavanai vanjiththu: naan vilaiyaattukkallavo seythaen entu sollukira manushanum irukkiraan. So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?

20 Virakillaamal neruppu aviyum; kolsollukiravanillaamal sanntai adangum. Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

21 Karikal thalalukkum, viraku neruppukkum aethuvaanathupola, vaathuppiriyan sanntaikalai moottukiratharku aethuvaanavan. As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

24 Pakainjan than ullaththil kapadaththai maraiththu, than uthadukalinaal soothupaesukiraan. He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him;

25 Avan ithampaesinaalum avanai nampaathae; avan iruthayaththil aelu aruvaruppukal unndu. When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.

26 Pakaiyai vanjakamaay maraiththuvaikkiravanevano avanutaiya pollaangu makaa Sabaiyilae velippaduththappadum. Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.

27 Padukuliyai vettukiravan thaanae athil viluvaan; kallaip purattukiravanmael anthak kal thirumpa vilum. Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

28 Kallanaavu thannaal kilaesappattavarkalaip pakaikkum; ichchakampaesum vaay alivai unndupannnum. A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
