1 In the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah.ରାଜା ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ଙ୍କ ରାଜତ୍ବର ଅଠର ବର୍ଷ ରେ ଅବିଯ ଯିହୁଦାର ନୂତନ ରାଜା ହେଲେ।

2 Three years reigned he in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. There was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.ଅବିଯ ୟିରୁଶାଲମ ରେ ତିନିବର୍ଷ ରାଜାରୂପେ ରହିଲେ। ଅବିଯଙ୍କର ମାତା ଥିଲେ ମୀଖାଯା, ସେ ଉରିଯଲଙ୍କେର କନ୍ଯା ଥିଲେ। ଉରିଯଲେ ଗିବିଯା ସହରରୁ ଆସିଥିଲେ। ଅବିଯ ଓ ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ଙ୍କ ମଧିଅରେ ୟୁଦ୍ଧ ଲାଗି ରହିଥିଲା।

3 Abijah joined battle with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: and Jeroboam set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, who were mighty men of valor.ଅବିଯଙ୍କ ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳ ରେ 4,00,000 ଜଣ ସାହସୀ ସୈନିକ ଥିଲେ। ଅବିଯ ସହେି ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳକୁ ୟୁଦ୍ଧକ୍ଷେତ୍ରକୁ କଢ଼ାଇ ନେଲେ। ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ଙ୍କ ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳ ରେ 8,00,000 ଜଣ ସାହସୀ ସୈନିକ ଥିଲେ। ଅବିଯଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଏକ ୟୁଦ୍ଧ ନିମନ୍ତେ ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ହେଲେ।

4 Abijah stood up on Mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill-country of Ephraim, and said, Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel:ଏହାପରେ ଇଫ୍ରଯିମର ପାର୍ବତ୍ଯମଯ, ଦେଶସ୍ଥ ସମାରଯିମ୍ ପର୍ବତ ଉପରେ ଅବିଯ ଠିଆ ହେଲେ। ଅବିଯ କହିଲେ, ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ ଓ ସମଗ୍ର ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲ, ମାେ କଥା ଶୁଣ !

5 Ought you not to know that Yahweh, the God of Israel, gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ଜାଣିବା ଉଚିତ ଯେ, ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ପରମେଶ୍ବର ଦାଉଦ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ପୁତ୍ରମାନଙ୍କୁ ଚିରକାଳ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ରାଜା ହବୋ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅଧିକାର ଦଇେଥିଲେ। ପରମେଶ୍ବର ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଲବଣ ଚୁକ୍ତି ସହିତ ଏହି ଅଧିକାର ପ୍ରଦାନ କରିଥିଲେ।

6 Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up, and rebelled against his lord.କିନ୍ତୁ ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ ତାଙ୍କର ମାଲିକଙ୍କର ବିରୁଦ୍ଧ ରେ ଉଠିଲେ। ନବାଟର ପୁତ୍ର ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର ଶଲୋମନଙ୍କ ଜଣେ ଦାସର ପୁତ୍ର ଥିଲା।

7 There were gathered to him worthless men, base fellows, who strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tender-hearted, and could not withstand them.ଏହାପରେ ନିହାତି ଅ ଯୋଗ୍ଯ, ମନ୍ଦ ଲୋକମାନେ ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ର ସାଙ୍ଗୀ ହେଲେ। ଆଉ ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ ଓ ସହେି ମନ୍ଦ ଲୋକମାନେ ଶଲୋମନଙ୍କର ପୁତ୍ର ରିହବିଯାମ୍ଙ୍କର ବିପକ୍ଷ ରେ ଉଠିଲେ। ରିହବିଯାମ୍ ଅଳ୍ପବଯସ୍କ ଓ ଅନୁଭୂତିହୀନ ଥିଲେ। ତେଣୁ ରିହବିଯାମ୍, ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ମନ୍ଦ ସଙ୍ଗୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ଅଟକାଇ ପାରିଲେ ନାହିଁ।

8 Now you think to withstand the kingdom of Yahweh in the hand of the sons of David; and you are a great multitude, and there are with you the golden calves which Jeroboam made you for gods.ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ, ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ରାଜତ୍ବକୁ ପରାସ୍ତ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ସିଦ୍ଧାନ୍ତ ନଇେଅଛ ଯେଉଁ ରାଜ୍ଯ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ରମାନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ବାରା ଶାସିତ ହେଉଅଛି। ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ବହୁତ ସଂଖ୍ଯକ ଲୋକ ଅଛନ୍ତି ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ସହେି ସୁବର୍ଣ୍ଣ ବାଛୁରୀଗୁଡ଼ିକ ଅଛି, ଯେଉଁ ' ଦବେତାମାନଙ୍କୁ' ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ନିର୍ମାଣ କରିଅଛ।

9 Haven't you driven out the priests of Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and made you priests after the manner of the peoples of [other] lands? so that whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams, the same may be a priest of [those who are] no gods.ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ହାରୋଣଙ୍କ ବଂଶଧର, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଯାଜକମାନଙ୍କୁ ବାହାର କରି ଦେଲେ। ଆଉ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ଲବେୀୟମାନଙ୍କୁ ବାହାର କରିଦଲେ। ଏହାପରେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ନିଜେ ନିଜର ଯାଜକମାନଙ୍କୁ ବାଛିଲ, ଠିକ୍ ଯେପରି ପୃଥିବୀର ଅନ୍ୟ ଦେଶର ଲୋକମାନେ କରିଥାଆନ୍ତି। ଆଉ ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ଯେ କୌଣସି ବ୍ଯକ୍ତି ଗୋଟିଏ ଅଳ୍ପବଯସ୍କ ବୃଷ ଓ ସାତାଟେି ମେଣ୍ଢା ଆଣି ଦେଲେ ଜଣେ ଯାଜକ ହାଇପୋରିବ। ଜଣେ ଯାଜକ ୟିଏକି 'ଅଣ ଦବେତାମାନଙ୍କର ସବୋ କରିବ।

10 But as for us, Yahweh is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and [we have] priests ministering to Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites in their work:କିନ୍ତୁ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ପରମେଶ୍ବର ଅଟନ୍ତି। ଆମ୍ଭମାନେେ ଯିହୁଦାର ଲୋକମାନେ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କୁ ମାନିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ମନା କରି ନାହୁଁ। ଆମ୍ଭମାନେେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ପରିତ୍ଯାଗ କରି ନାହୁଁ। ଯେଉଁ ଯାଜକମାନେ ସଦପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ସବୋ କରନ୍ତି, ସମାନେେ ହାରୋଣଙ୍କର ପୁତ୍ରଗଣ ଅଟନ୍ତି। ଲବେୀୟମାନେ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ସମାନଙ୍କେର କାମ କରିବା ରେ ସାହାୟ୍ଯ କରନ୍ତି।

11 and they burn to Yahweh every morning and every evening burnt offerings and sweet incense: the show bread also [set they] in order on the pure table; and the lampstand of gold with the lamps of it, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of Yahweh our God; but you have forsaken him.ସମାନେେ ପ୍ରତି ପ୍ରଭାତ ରେ ଓ ପ୍ରତି ସନ୍ଧ୍ଯା ରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ହାମବେଳି ଓ ସୁଗନ୍ଧି ଧୂପ ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗ କରନ୍ତି। ସମାନେେ ମନ୍ଦିର ମଧିଅରେ ଥିବା ବିଶଷେ ମଜେ ଉପରେ ଧାଡ଼ି ରେ ରୋଟୀ ସଜାଇ ରଖନ୍ତି। ଆଉ ସମାନେେ ସୁବର୍ଣ୍ଣ ପ୍ରଦୀପଧାର ଗୁଡ଼ିକର ଯତ୍ନ ନିଅନ୍ତି, ତେଣୁ ପ୍ରେତ୍ୟକକ ସନ୍ଧ୍ଯା ରେ ପ୍ରଦୀପ ଝକ୍ମକ୍ କରେ। ଆମ୍ଭମାନେେ ଅତି ଯତ୍ନପୂର୍ବକ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପରମେଶ୍ବର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ସବୋ କରୁ। କିନ୍ତୁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ତାଙ୍କୁ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣରୂପେ ତ୍ଯାଗ କରିଅଛ।

12 Behold, God is with us at our head, and his priests with the trumpets of alarm to sound an alarm against you. Children of Israel, don't you fight against Yahweh, the God of your fathers; for you shall not prosper.ପରମେଶ୍ବର ସ୍ବଯଂ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ରହିଛନ୍ତି। ସେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଶାସକ ଅଟନ୍ତି, ଆଉ ତାଙ୍କର ଯାଜକମାନେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଅଛନ୍ତି। ତୁମ୍ଭ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧ ରେ ୟୁଦ୍ଧର ଆହ୍ବାନ ରୂପେ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ଯାଜକମାନେ ତାଙ୍କର ତୂରୀ ବଜାନ୍ତି। ହେ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ଲୋକମାନେ, ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ପୂର୍ବପୁରୁଷମାନଙ୍କର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧ ରେ ୟୁଦ୍ଧ କର ନାହିଁ। ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ କବେେ ସଫଳ ହବେ ନାହିଁ।

13 But Jeroboam caused an ambush to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambush was behind them.କିନ୍ତୁ ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ ଅବିଯଙ୍କ ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳର ପେଛ ପେଛ ଗୋପନ ରେ ୟିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏକ ଦଳ ସୈନ୍ଯଙ୍କୁ ପଠାଇଲେ। ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ଙ୍କ ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳ ୟିହୁଦୀଯଙ୍କ ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳର ସମ୍ମୁଖ ରେ ଥିଲେ। ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ଙ୍କ ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳର ଲୁଚି ରହିଥିବା ସୈନ୍ଯମାନେ ଯିହୁଦାର ପଶ୍ଚାତ୍ ରେ ଥିଲେ।

14 When Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind them; and they cried to Yahweh, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.ଅବିଯଙ୍କ ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳ ରେ ଥିବା ଯିହୁଦାର ସୈନ୍ଯଗଣ ଯେତବେେଳେ ଚତୁର୍ଦ୍ଦିଗକୁ ଚାହିଁଲେ, ସମାନେେ ଦେଖିଲେ ଯେ, ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ଙ୍କ ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳ ସମ୍ମୁଖରୁ ଓ ପଶ୍ଚାତ୍ରୁ ଉଭୟ ପାଶର୍‌ବରୁ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କରୁଛନ୍ତି। ଯିହୁଦାର ଲୋକମାନେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ପାଟି କରି ଡାକ ପକାଇଲେ ଓ ଯାଜକମାନେ ତୂରୀ ବଜାଇଲେ।

15 Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it happened, that God struck Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.ଏହା ପରେ ଯିହୁଦାର ଲୋକମାନେ ଜୋର୍ ରେ ଚିତ୍କାର କଲେ। ଯିହୁଦାର ଲୋକମାନେ ଯେତବେେଳେ ଜୋର୍ ରେ ଚିତ୍କାର କଲେ, ପରମେଶ୍ବର ୟାରବିଯାମଙ୍କ ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳକୁ ପରାସ୍ତ କଲେ। ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲରୁ ଆଗତ ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ଙ୍କ ସମସ୍ତ ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳ ଯିହୁଦାରୁ ଆଗତ ଅବିଯଙ୍କ ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳ ଦ୍ବାରା ପରାସ୍ତ ହେଲେ।

16 The children of Israel fled before Judah; and God delivered them into their hand.ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ଲୋକମାନେ ଯିହୁଦାର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ପଳାଯନ କଲେ। ପରମେଶ୍ବର ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ସୈନ୍ଯଗଣଙ୍କୁ ପରାସ୍ତ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଯିହୁଦାର ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳକୁ ଆଗଇେ ନେଲେ।

17 Abijah and his people killed them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.ଅବିଯଙ୍କ ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳକୁ ଅତି ଗୁରୁତର ଭାବରେ ପରାସ୍ତ କଲେ ଓ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର 5,00,000 ଜଣ ସର୍ବଶ୍ ରେଷ୍ଠ ବ୍ଯକ୍ତିମାନେ ନିହତ ହେଲେ।

18 Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied on Yahweh, the God of their fathers.ତେଣୁ ସହେି ସମୟରେ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ଲୋକମାନେ ପରାସ୍ତ ହେଲେ ଓ ଯିହୁଦାର ଲୋକମାନେ ବିଜଯୀ ହେଲେ। ଯିହୁଦାର ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳ ସମାନଙ୍କେ ପୂର୍ବପୁରୁଷମାନଙ୍କର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ନିର୍ଭର କରିଥିବାରୁ ବିଜଯଲାଭ କଲେ।

19 Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with the towns of it, and Jeshanah with the towns of it, and Ephron with the towns of it.ଅବିଯଙ୍କ ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳ ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ଙ୍କ ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳର ପେଛ ପେଛ ଗୋଡ଼ାଇଲେ। ଅବିଯଙ୍କ ସୈନ୍ଯଦଳ ବୈଥଲ, ୟିଶାନା ଓ ଇଫ୍ରୋନ୍ ସହରଗୁଡ଼ିକ ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଦଖଲ କରି ନେଲେ। ସହେି ସହର ଓ ସହେି ସହରଗୁଡ଼ିକର ନିକଟରେ ଥିବା କ୍ଷୁଦ୍ରଗ୍ରାମଗୁଡ଼ିକୁ ମଧ୍ଯ ସମାନେେ ଅଧିକାର କରି ନେଲେ।

20 Neither did Jeroboam recover strength again in the days of Abijah: and Yahweh struck him, and he died.ଅବିଯ ଜୀବିତ ଥିବା ପର୍ୟ୍ଯନ୍ତ ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ ଆଉ କଦାପି ପରାକ୍ରମୀ ହାଇପୋରିଲେ ନାହିଁ। ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ୟାରବିଯାମ୍ଙ୍କୁ ବଧ କଲେ।

21 But Abijah grew mighty, and took to himself fourteen wives, and became the father of twenty-two sons, and sixteen daughters.କିନ୍ତୁ ଅବିଯ ପରାକ୍ରମୀ ହାଇେ ଉଠିଲେ। ସେ ଚଉଦ ଜଣ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀଙ୍କୁ ବିବାହ କଲେ, ଏବଂ ବାଇଶ ଜଣ ପୁତ୍ର ଓ ଷୋହଳ ଜଣ କନ୍ଯାଙ୍କର ପିତା ହେଲେ।

22 The rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his sayings, are written in the commentary of the prophet Iddo.ଅବିଯ ଆଉ ଯେଉଁସବୁ କର୍ମ କରିଥିଲେ, ତାହା ଉଦ୍ଦୋ ଭବିଷ୍ଯଦ୍ବକ୍ତାଙ୍କର ପୁସ୍ତକମାନଙ୍କ ରେ ଲଖାୟୋଇଅଛି।
