എന്നാൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ ജ്യേഷ്ഠനായ ശിമെയയുടെ മകനായ യോനാദാബ് പറഞ്ഞതു: അവർ രാജകുമാരന്മാരായ യുവാക്കളെ ഒക്കെയും കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു യജമാനൻ വിചാരിക്കരുതു; അമ്നോൻ മാത്രമെ മരിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളു; തന്റെ സഹോദരിയായ താമാരിനെ അവൻ അവമാനിച്ച നാൾമുതൽ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ മുഖത്തു ഈ നിർണ്ണയം കാണ്മാൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother, answered and said, Let not my lord suppose that they have slain all the young men the king's sons; for Amnon only is dead: for by the appointment of Absalom this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.

my lord אֲדֹנִי֙ ʾādôn ah-DONE
אֵ֣ת ʾēt ate

the young men הַנְּעָרִ֤ים naʿar na-AR
sons; בְּנֵֽי bēn bane
the king's הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ melek meh-LEK
they have slain הֵמִ֔יתוּ mût moot

Amnon אַמְנ֥וֹן ʾamnôn am-NONE
only לְבַדּ֖וֹ bad bahd

the appointment פִּ֤י pe peh
of Absalom אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ ʾăbîšālôm uh-vee-sha-LOME

from the day מִיּוֹם֙ yôm yome
that he forced עַנֹּת֔וֹ ʿānâ ah-NA
