ശിമെയാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യോസാഖാർ, ശോമേരിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോസാബാദ് എന്നീ ഭൃത്യന്മരായിരുന്നു അവനെ വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നതു. ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടുകൂടെ അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ അമസ്യാവു അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായ്തീർന്നു.
