And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.

when	כִּֽי	kî	kee
was strong,	חָזַ֣ק	ḥāzaq	ha-ZAHK
Israel	יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל	yiśrāʾēl	yees-ra-ALE
that they put	וַיָּ֥שֶׂם	śûm	soom
	אֶת	ʾēt	ate
the Canaanites	הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י	kĕnaʿanî	keh-na-ah-NEE
to tribute,	לָמַ֑ס	mas	mahs
utterly	וְהוֹרֵ֖ישׁ	yāraš	ya-RAHSH
