ரூபன் புத்திரர் காத் புத்திரர் ஆகிய உங்களுக்கும் எங்களுக்கும் நடுவே கர்த்தர் யோர்தானை எல்லையாக வைத்தார்; கர்த்தரிடத்தில் உங்களுக்குப் பங்கில்லை என்று சொல்லி, எங்கள் பிள்ளைகளைக் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படாதிருக்கச் செய்வார்கள் என்கிற ஐயத்தினாலே நாங்கள் சொல்லிக்கொண்டது என்னவென்றால்:

யோர்தான் நதிக்கு மறு பக்கத்தில் தேவன் எங்களுக்கு நிலத்தைக் கொடுத்தார். யோர்தான் நதி நம்மைப் பிரிக்கிறது. உங்கள் பிள்ளைகள் வளர்ந்து தேசத்தை ஆளும்போது, நாங்களும் உங்களைச் சார்ந்தவர்களே என்று அவர்கள் எண்ணமாட்டார்கள். அவர்கள் எங்களை நோக்கி, ‘ரூபன், காத் ஜனங்கள் இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்கள் அல்ல!’ என்று சொல்லக்கூடும். அப்போது எங்கள் பிள்ளைகள் கர்த்தரை ஆராதிக்க உங்கள் பிள்ளைகள் தடை செய்யக்கூடும்.
