तब उन्होंने उस बछड़े को जो उन्हें दिया गया था ले कर तैयार किया, और भोर से ले कर दोपहर तक वह यह कह कर बाल से प्रार्थना करते रहे, कि हे बाल हमारी सुन, हे बाल हमारी सुन! परन्तु न कोई शब्द और न कोई उत्तर देने वाला हुआ। तब वे अपनी बनाई हुई वेदी पर उछलने कूदने लगे।

and called וַיִּקְרְא֣וּ qārāʾ ka-RA
on the name בְשֵׁם šēm shame
of Baal הַ֠בַּעַל baʿal ba-AL
from morning מֵֽהַבֹּ֨קֶר bōqer boh-KER
even until וְעַד ʿad ad
noon, הַצָּֽהֳרַ֤יִם ṣōhar tsoh-HAHR
saying, לֵאמֹר֙ ʾāmar ah-MAHR
O Baal, הַבַּ֣עַל baʿal ba-AL

us. But no וְאֵ֥ין ʾayin ah-YEEN
voice, ק֖וֹל qôl kole

And they leaped וַֽיְפַסְּח֔וּ pāsaḥ pa-SAHK
upon עַל ʿal al
the altar הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ mizbēaḥ meez-BAY-ak
which אֲשֶׁ֥ר ʾăšer uh-SHER
was made. עָשָֽׂה׃ ʿāśâ ah-SA
