તો એ આમ થયું છે: ઈસ્રાએલના લોકોએ દેવ-પ્રાપ્તિ માટે યોગ્યતા કેળવવાનો પ્રયત્ન કર્યો. પરંતુ તેઓ સફળ ન થયા. પરંતુ દેવે જે માણસો પસંદ કર્યા, તેઓ સુપાત્ર થયા. બીજા લોકો કઠણ થયા અને તેમણે દેવનો આદેશ સાંભળવાનો ઈન્કાર કરી દીઘો.
