Proverbs 18 - ASV (Gujarati)

1 He that separateth himself seeketh `his own' desire, And rageth against all sound wisdom.એકલો માણસ ફકત પોતાની ઇચ્છાઓ વિશે જ વિચારે છે અને બધી સારી સલાહોને ગુસ્સાથી નકારે છે.

2 A fool hath no delight in understanding, But only that his heart may reveal itself.મૂર્ખને બુદ્ધિમાં રસ નથી હોતો, તેને ફકત પોતાના મંતવ્યોને જ રજૂ કરવા હોય છે.

3 When the wicked cometh, there cometh also contempt, And with ignominy `cometh' reproach.જ્યારે દુરાચાર આવે છે ત્યારે ધિક્કાર તેને અનુસરે છે, અને અપકીતિર્ સાથે શરમ પણ આવે છે.

4 The words of a man's mouth are `as' deep waters; The wellspring of wisdom is `as' a flowing brook.શાણી વ્યકિતની વાણી, ઊંડા પાણી, વહેતું ઝરણું અને જ્ઞાનની નદી જેવી છે.

5 To respect the person of the wicked is not good, `Nor' to turn aside the righteous in judgment.ન્યાયાલયમાં દુર્જનની તરફેણ કરીને નિદોર્ષ વ્યકિતને અન્યાય કરવો એ સારું નથી.

6 A fool's lips enter into contention, And his mouth calleth for stripes.મૂર્ખ બોલે બોલે કજિયા કરાવે છે અને શબ્દે શબ્દે ડફણાં મારે છે.

7 A fool's mouth is his destruction, And his lips are the snare of his soul.મૂર્ખની વાણી તેનો વિનાશ નોતરે છે. અને તે પોતાની શબ્દોનીજ જાળમાં સપડાય છે.

8 The words of a whisperer are as dainty morsels, And they go down into the innermost parts.કૂથલીના શબ્દો સ્વાદિષ્ટ ભોજન જેવા હોય છે, તે તરત ગળે ઉતરી જાય છે અને શરીરના અંતરતમ ભાગમાં પહોચી જાય છે.

9 He also that is slack in his work Is brother to him that is a destroyer.વળી જે પોતાનાં કામ પ્રત્યે શિથિલ છે તે ઉડાઉનો ભાઇ છે.

10 The name of Jehovah is a strong tower; The righteous runneth into it, and is safe.યહોવાનું નામ મજબૂત કિલ્લો છે, જ્યાં ભાગી જઇને સજ્જન સુરક્ષિત રહે છે.

11 The rich man's wealth is his strong city, And as a high wall in his own imagination.ધનવાન માને છે કે, મારું ધન મારું કિલ્લેબંદીવાળું નગર છે, ઊંચો કોટ છે.

12 Before destruction the heart of man is haughty; And before honor `goeth' humility.અભિમાન વિનાશને નોતરે છે, પહેલી નમ્રતા છે પછી સન્માન પ્રાપ્ત થાય છે.

13 He that giveth answer before he heareth, It is folly and shame unto him.સાંભળ્યા પહેલાઁ જવાબ આપવામાં મૂર્ખાઇ તથા લજ્જા છે.

14 The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; But a broken spirit who can bear?હિમ્મતવાન માણસ પોતાનું દુ:ખસહન કરી શકશે; પણ ઘાયલ મન કોણ વેઠી શકે?

15 The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; And the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.બુદ્ધિશાળી વ્યકિત જ્ઞાન પ્રાપ્ત કરવા મથે છે, જ્ઞાની વ્યકિતના કાન જ્ઞાન શોધે છે.

16 A man's gift maketh room for him, And bringeth him before great men.વ્યકિતની ભેટ તેને માટે માર્ગ ખુલ્લો કરે છે, અને મહત્વની વ્યકિતની સમક્ષ લઇ જાય છે.

17 He that pleadeth his cause first `seemeth' just; But his neighbor cometh and searcheth him out.ન્યાયાલયમાં પહેલા બોલે તે સાચો લાગે, પણ બીજો આવીને તેની ઊલટ તપાસ કરે છે.

18 The lot causeth contentions to cease, And parteth between the mighty.સમર્થ વ્યકિત વચ્ચેનો મામલો જામીનથી નીપટાવાય છે.

19 A brother offended `is harder to be won' than a strong city; And `such' contentions are like the bars of a castle.દુભાયેલા ભાઇને મનાવવો ગઢ જીતવા કરતાં કપરું છે; તે કજિયા કિલ્લાની ભૂંગળો જેવા છે.

20 A man's belly shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; With the increase of his lips shall he be satisfied.યકિત જેવું બોલે છે તેવાં ફળ તે ભોગવે છે; પોતાની વાણીનો બદલો તેને ચોક્કસ મળશે.

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue; And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.જન્મમૃત્યુ જીભના સાર્મથ્યમાં છે; અને જીભ તેને જે પ્રેમ પૂર્વક વાપરે છે, તેઓ તે પ્રમાણે બદલો મેળવે છે.

22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, And obtaineth favor of Jehovah.જેને પત્ની મળે તેને સારી ચીજ મળી જાણવી, અને યહોવાની કૃપા પામ્યો જાણવો.

23 The poor useth entreaties; But the rich answereth roughly.ગરીબ કાલાવાલા કરે છે; પરંતુ દ્વવ્યવાન ઉદ્ધતાઇથી જવાબ આપે છે.

24 He that maketh many friends `doeth it' to his own destruction; But there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.ઘણા મિત્રો આફત લાવી શકે છે; પરંતુ એક ખાસ પ્રકારનો મિત્ર છે કે જે એક ભાઇ કરતા વધુ નિકટ છે.
