அப்பொழுது அவன்: அவன் பெயர் யாக்கோபு என்னப்படுவது சரியல்லவா? இதோடே இரண்டுதரம் என்னை மோசம்போக்கினான்; என் சேஷ்ட புத்திரபாகத்தை எடுத்துக்கொண்டான்; இதோ, இப்பொழுது என் ஆசீர்வாதத்தையும் வாங்கிக்கொண்டான் என்று சொல்லி; நீர் எனக்கு ஒரு ஆசீர்வாதத்தையாகிலும் வைத்துவைக்கவில்லையா என்றான்.

அப்பொழுது அவன்: அவனுடைய பெயர் யாக்கோபு என்பது சரியல்லவா? இதோடு இரண்டுமுறை என்னை ஏமாற்றினான்; என் பிறப்புரிமையை எடுத்துக்கொண்டான்; இதோ, இப்பொழுது என் ஆசீர்வாதத்தையும் வாங்கிக்கொண்டான் என்று சொல்லி, நீர் எனக்கு ஒரு ஆசீர்வாதத்தையாவது வைத்திருக்கவில்லையா என்றான்.

“அவன் பெயரே யாக்கோபு, (தந்திரசாலி என்றும் பொருள்.) அவனுக்குப் பொருத்தமான பெயர்தான். அவன் இருமுறை என்னை ஏமாற்றி இருக்கிறான். முன்பு முதல் மகன் என்ற உரிமைப் பங்கையும் அவன் பெற்றுக்கொண்டான். இப்போதோ எனது ஆசீர்வாதங்களையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டானே” என்று புலம்பினான். பிறகு, “எனக்கென்று ஏதாவது ஆசீர்வாதம் மீதி இருக்கிறதா” என்று கேட்டான்.

அதைக் கேட்ட ஏசா, “யாக்கோபு* என்னும் பெயர் அவனுக்குப் பொருத்தமே. ஏனெனில், அவன் இருமுறை என்னை ஏமாற்றிவிட்டான். ஏற்கெனவே எனக்குரிய தலைமகனுரிமையைப் பறித்துக் கொண்டான். இப்பொழுது எனக்குரிய ஆசியையும் பிடுங்கிக்கொண்டான்” என்று சொல்லி, திரும்பவும் தந்தையை நோக்கி; “நீர் எனக்கென வேறு எந்த ஆசியும் ஒதுக்கி வைக்கவில்லையா?” என்று கேட்டான்.

Appoluthu avan: avan peyar yaakkopu ennappaduvathu sariyallavaa? Ithotae iranndutharam ennai mosampokkinaan; en seshda puththirapaakaththai eduththukkonndaan; itho, ippoluthu en aaseervaathaththaiyum vaangikkonndaan entu solli; neer enakku oru aaseervaathaththaiyaakilum vaiththuvaikkavillaiyaa entan.
