அவர்கள் பெத்பேயோரைத் தாண்டியுள்ள பள்ளத்தாக்கில் யோர்தான் நதிக்குக் கிழக்கில் இருந்தபொழுது, மோசே இச்சட்டங்களை அவர்களுக்கு வழங்கினான். எஸ்போனில் வசித்த எமோரிய அரசனாகிய சீகோனின் நாட்டில் அவர்கள் இருந்தார்கள். (எகிப்திலிருந்து வெளியேறிய பொழுது மோசேயும் இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்களும் சீகோனைத் தோற்கடித்தனர்.
