பிறகு காத் தாவீதிடம் சென்று, அவனிடம், “‘தாவீதே நீ விரும்புகிற தண்டனையைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்துக்கொள்: மூன்று ஆண்டுகள் உணவில்லாமல் இருப்பது, அல்லது மூன்று மாதங்கள் உனது பகைவர்கள் தம் ஆயுதங்களால் துரத்த ஓடிக்கொண்டே இருப்பது, அல்லது மூன்று நாட்கள் கர்த்தர் தரும் தண்டனை. இதனால் பயங்கரமான நோய் நாடு முழுவதும் பரவும், கர்த்தருடைய தூதன் இஸ்ரவேல் முழுவதுமுள்ள ஜனங்களை அழிப்பான்’ என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்கிறார். தேவன் என்னை அனுப்பினார். இப்போது, நான் அவருக்கு என்ன பதில் சொல்ல வேண்டும் என்று நீ முடிவு செய்” என்றான்.
